  1. On HFboards they said it was a bogus rumour. Look in the Hossa/Richards got traded according to yahoo thread.
  2. It is to all the Europeans on our team...
  3. It's not like they're '30 million dollar complex collapsed'. It's under construction and a part of the frame collapsed.
  4. You sound like the typical pessimist, you're either right or you're pleasantly surprised. Like Wamsley said, you've called them falling apart a few times this season, and you were proven wrong. Was it you who was so disgusted after a loss in November or something that you said you would stay away from the board until February? How did that work out? Now, I don't agree with people who are completely sold on this team, and I never thought we would be a first place team (although we got a lot closer than I thought we would). But your attitude seems to be narrow-mindedly negative, you bank on them failing so if and when they do you can say "I told you so!" to anyone who believed in this team. I also have a problem with your idea of benchings. Koivu certainly deserved a few benchings that he didn't receive earlier in the year, but he's picked it up in the last month (although he was awful on Saturday). Higgins might deserve some reduced minutes, and I think that's happened to him a couple of times. But neither of these guys should be scratched. And benching Komi and Markov, are you crazy? They haven't had their best games lately, but you don't bench your top defensive pairing. Then you'll just see a lot more of Bouillon - Gorges, and then you'll be calling for them to be benched.
  5. What really makes it bad are the ridiculous amount of rumours getting our hopes up every few days. I think Bob will make a trade, though, even if it's just something minor to help our stretch run, or just getting rid of unnecessary baggage like with the Rivet deal.
  6. Yeah, I'd take the Rangers over Brodeur as well, although Lundqvist would be a tough challenge. It's early to make a call, but it looks like it'll be NJ, NYR, Pittsburgh and us competing for the 4,5,6 seeds, with one of those teams taking the Atlantic division. In that case I think it would be better for us to finish 6th and face the winner of the Southeast, even if it's Carolina.
  7. So you would not have put Huet on the list if he was in nets and the game went exactly the same? Yeah, that was a killer. At that moment I kind of knew that we would lose, we can't keep coming back from 2 or 3 goal first period deficits.
  8. Meh, I wasn't too convinced that either one of them should get the start, so this doesn't bother me. Hopefully Price does the job, but if neither one is getting it done in the next two games, I'd really like to see a little Halak around here.
  9. That would suck, unless we end up sixth we'd likely get the Devils, or maybe the Rangers.
  10. Gerber's mask is badass, the black bullet. I didn't really notice Price's mask and how lame it supposedly is. He should really get the most ridiculously ostenatious mask, neon red with devil horns or something.
  11. I was thinking the same thing during the game, too bad Gui wasn't in the line-up. No one was standing in front of the net on point shots, Leclaire would just snag them out of the air. One thing that we're lacking is someone who's good at tipping pucks.
  12. He'll never be as good as Hossa, that's guaranteed. His absolute ceiling is becoming like Sullivan or maybe Briere, and that's not too likely.
  13. Yeah, what the hell is Brian doing here? Gahhd, I guess he's better at face-offs than Chips, but in every other aspect of the game he's worse.
  14. Durrr, yes? How low can the hypothetical price drop? "They're asking for a bag of pucks, but they want 50 pucks in the bag..."
  15. So is this why I shouldn't get in a pissing contest with a 'skunk', you'll insult me to the core with stinging barbs like 'tool'? Do you mind actually responding to the post I was agreeing with, or can you only muster a cliché like 'rose-coloured glasses' as your argument? Off to bed now, little one.
  16. Oh come on, you have to include Price as one of your blameworthy people, you would do it if it was Huet who made the exact same saves and let in the exact same goals. Price came through with maybe 2 or 3 big saves, but was weak on all of the goals. He got us in a hole quickly and Columbus has a conservative style that makes it hard to come back. I also don't see how you blame Kovalev, he had a good game. Markov was also pretty good, he made that brilliant set-up to Plex who missed an open net. I agree with blaming Koivu, he was just bad. I still think that if Plex and A Kost were out on the 5 on 3 instead of Koivu and Ryder then we would have scored there, so that could be some blame for Carbo.
  17. This is pretty much my view, I'm by no means the biggest Koivu fan, I've argued for him and against him on this board. The bolded part especially is where people here tend to go wonky.
  18. Yeah, in the two series that he got past the first round he had 10 points in 12 games and 16 points in 18 games. Before that he was only one of many players on his team who was considered a playoff choke, he was playing behind Alfredsson and Yashin.
  19. I agree that Halak deserves an opportunitiy, but your stats comparison is pretty meaningless, considering Jaro's NHL games were a year ago, and there's no use comparing Price's AHL time in January with Jaro's in February. Anyways, like it's been said, one of our three goalies may be gone by Tuesday.
  20. I think they're all pretty near the same level in performance at the moment. Halak could probably come in and do Huet's job, in fact I think he'd play pretty well right now because he'd be so hungry. The difference is Huet is a free agent who will either get a big contract from us or be gone next year, and if he's not number 1 material then we won't be giving him a big contract anyways.
  21. That was a good tribute, aside from the yawner of a speech given by his sister. The Larry Robinson one seemed more emotional, but that was probably largely due to Bob wanting to downplay it all. And I want to get me some of that younger Gainey daughter, I like the looka that! All in all I think it's cool that this organization with such a storied history that is so choosy about whose jersey gets to go into the rafters picked a defensive forward who never had a 50 point season. Well deserved.
