Nightmare scenario in Vancouver as it sounds like Pettersson wants out like Tkachuk did from Calgary.
One of HuGort's toughest tasks is to offset all the extra baggage of playing in a Canadian market and to make stars want to stay.

If we have the opportunity to move on from Anderson, I'd say we do it. His contract is teetering on the brink of being a toxic asset with his injury history and limited production. If we get Mikheyev back for instance, just getting out of that final year of Andy's deal would be huge for us, because we'd presumably be good at that point and need that money for our key contributors.

On the bright side, nice to get the win for the home fans - we could easily lose another five straight with our difficult upcoming schedule. Happy for Suze to get the empty netter and for Slaf to send that guy flying. Slaf is still late on many of his reads, but that's something I expect he'll continue to improve upon.
Armia has been really solid for several weeks now. Maybe Pearson's goal will wake him up and he'll get some interest at the deadline.

Feels like we should have started Allen or Primeau tonight.
-
Wow, what a pass from HondaCivic to hit Suzuki in stride at the end of the period there.
Habs getting dominated on the shot clock but winning undeservedly.
-
Nice shot from Harris. He has the tools to stay in the league for a long time, if we trade him it better be for something good.

That had to be one of the least energetic games of the season. That was tough to watch.
It's a tradition going back to the Brodeur days that Habs-Devils games are snoozers that we lose.

I thought Newhook had a good game and made some nice passes. Roy looked solid as well. Our first line had some chances but just didn't click. Slaf's shot still needs a lot of work.
Primeau was decent but tipped in the first Pens goal. See ya in three weeks.
-
Not great for Slaf to take three penalties, but it's a part of the learning curve.
Roy looks like he belongs already. He could do well on the powerplay in Newhook's spot.

Just now, Prime Minister Koivu said:
I liked that quick tic-tac-toe play they were trying on the PP.
Suzuki to Slafkovsky to Caufield for the tap or redirect.
I thought Slaf should have shot it the first time, but the second try almost worked. Cole was taking some punishment by the net.

Another bomb from Arber. This kid is special and when we get back to the playoffs he'll be a difference maker.
-
whoops you beat me by a few minutes.

Our Large Slovakian Murder Toddler rides again. Same lineup as last game? Puck drop at 7.
-
Minny and Vancouver put up a 10-7 football score with Casey Desmith letting in 8 on 25 shots.
Matthews keeps scoring and looks like he'll hit 70 easily.

I agree, they are hard to pass over but there are also some outstanding defensemen available and stud defensemen who can log a lot of minutes and anchor a defense are also hard to pass over so there is a chance Lindstrom could fall to 5 or 6. Probably a small chance he falls that far.
There's also the Russian factor working against a few of the top D men (as well as Demidov), so a big Canadian C is a safer pick.
If we somehow win the lottery and get a top 2 pick I'll be over the moon.

Agree 100%, Lindstrom is the guy I would love to see the Habs get (assuming we don't win the lottery and have a chance at Celebrini) but I think he is almost for sure gone in the top 5.
Probably gone in the top 2, 3 at the latest. Hard to pass over a big physical centre with a nose for the net.
We still have a decent shot at the #5 slot if Ottawa and Arizona get their act together.

I love the passion from Slaf. He really hates to lose.
-
Tough night for Kovacevic, who is usually pretty low event. I'd rather not give up 7 every other night. On the other hand, Slaf and Cole continue to produce. I thought Anderson was decent as well.
This team is a long way from being solid defensively. Matheson is good but isn't an anchor that the kids can lean on.

Perfect tank season win. Blowout at home, shutout for our goalie, some fights with our guys standing up for each other, our young studs show out. That was a pitiful showing by a terrible Ducks team so we can temper our glee, but a fun night to remove the stink of the last game.
-
Pearson had a nice period, maybe someone will want him at the deadline.
-
Another nice setup from Slaf.
-
Damn I just saw the Harris hit, absolutely brutal. Guhle also went down, didn't see what happened though.
As for positives, Roy showed some flashes in the third.
-
Jakey's not helping his trade value today.
Slaf looks like a top 6 player with so much room to grow.

Great pass from Arber too.
How does Evans take a penalty with 4 seconds on the clock?
