  1. Some pretty big snubs from the different teams. Obviously a lot has been said about Ryan and Yandle (I can understand the reasons behind Ryan but Yandle is a real shocker), but how about Hedman not making Sweden? Russia leaving off Semin and Yakupov. Perhaps the weirdest one to me was Czechs leaving off Vrbata, but going with the 42 year old Nedved.
  2. So, did Reway secretly become one of out top prospects overnight? Tied for the lead in tournament scoring after 3 games. But of course, he's a smurf.
  3. Any word on other Habs prospects in the WJC? Is it likely that Collberg and De la Rose will attend?
  4. Dreger says teams are calling about Patches, but is 'absolutely not' being shopped.
  5. While I wouldn't mind trading Bourque, it's important to remember he's one of the few offensive threats with size that we possess. He may not be an elite power forward, but he is a power forward nonetheless. Since we are clearly a team that rolls 3 offensive lines, I think Bourque fits in well because he's not really expected to produce on a nightly basis. In fact, you can say the same thing for most of the team. Score by committee.
  6. I don't believe in swapping out core players during dry spells. Pacioretty is one of a key group of young players coing out of the organization. Let him, Price, Subban, Galchenyuk, Gallgher, etc. grow as a team together. Obviously, if the circumstances are extreme (Desharnais), exceptions can be made. Patches is a hard-worker and a proven goal-scorer. Give him time, and he will score.
  7. Actually excited to see Briere play center with offensive wingers. Even before the season, it was well-known that he produced better at center. The fact that he will probably be playing 3rd-line minutes should allow him to be matched up against lines that can be exploited.
  8. Maybe MT figures he can more easily get two points against Minny, so why not put all your chips on a safer bet. If we beat the Avs, great, but if we lose, it's against one of the league's best. Not sure why they traded Downie though. He wasn't exactly stinking it up on their top line.
  9. They are simply introducing him to NHL hockey in the healthiest way possible. Let him get a sense for the pace of the game without over-exposing him. Obsiously, the 4th line sees the least amount of minutes, so not only are you not going to wear him out (you can't expect someone with the experience of Holland, who is in his first pro season, to play top 9 minutes), but also it represents the least amount of risk for the overall team having someone so inexperienced in the line-up. Also, playing with defensive-minded players like Moen can only be a good influence on young guys. Even if they have top 9 skill, you still want them to be responsible players. This strategy is only really a problem if he becomes a fixture on the 4th line or ends up in the press box for an extended period of time.
  10. Not to mention Streit, Weber... I'm surprised they never put Markov on the 4th line.
  11. Apparently Bourque is out with the flu. TSN reporting that Beaulieu may play on the 4th line... Is there really no one we can call up to fill a forward position? MT must be really sour on Leblanc.
  12. Team called up Beaulieu (again). Even though I don't think he's ready for a full time job, would be nice to test him out and see how he does.
  13. If it's any consolation, Pacioretty and Eller have shown that having your skull caved in basically means you'll come back as a top 6 forward.
  14. How about Pacioretty's wrist? I'm glad we don't play again till Saturday... I was pretty 'meh' about the Parros signing until last night. You can argue about the usefulness of fighting in games, but it was refreshing to watch 3 different Habs beat the crap out of the Leafs (would have been 2 for George if he didn't fit his head). Apart from the fighting, he didn't look completely out of place playing the game either. He made a few smart plays in the offensive zone, something we never saw with Laraque. I hope he's not out too long, because Moen - Prust - Parros is a line I would be excited to see again.
  15. Kessel gets an 8 year extension for 8 million a season, apparently.
  16. Thanks for all the info. I was able to find what looks like an excellent streaming site, but I think in the end I will get a videotron package to have access to a few other stations I like. It's just a shame that North America gets a major shaft in terms of cable options/costs compared to the rest of the world...
  17. I looked into that, but... Game broadcasts that are available to watch on television in your local market and nationally televised games are not available to watch live or within 48 hours of game completion in NHL GameCenter LIVE™. Preseason games are not included in NHL GameCenter LIVE™. I guess it's not meant to compete with the TV stations, but makes it kind of pointless unless you live somewhere else.
  18. I'm already aware of a few, but I was hoping some kind of online subscription program or something so I could watch it in HD/high quality.
  19. So I no longer have a cable package this season (Videotron are such crooks!), so I won't have access to RDS. Is there any other service, online or otherwise, that has all 82 Habs games?
  20. I don't believe we have any roster spots open among forwards. But if injuries strike, I would prefer to have Morrow over Gagne any day (although I still believe Gagne can be a productive middle 6 player).
