  1. Not a great start for Montreal, but Hamrlik and Huet saved a goal there. Great hustle by Hamrlik to get back and cut off Erat's angle, and Huet read it perfectly. Erat could only either shoot or go 5-hole because Hammer cut off the cross-crease lane. Really need to get some pressure going, though. Too many odd-man rushes going against us. On a plus note, Kostitsyn and Grabs look good out there. And Higgins pots one as I'm typing this. Atta guy, I like this line. They need a winger on that line with speed and a nose for the net. Maybe people will jump back on the Higgins bandwagon now.
  2. Got that right back, baby! Take that Kilger. If you weren't such a one-game wonder, you wouldn't have been put on waivers way back when.
  3. And that great 5 minutes was followed by the worst powerplay of the year. The Sens answered back.
  4. That was the best 5 minutes of hockey I've seen this team play in a long time. Unlucky on the finish, but Ottawa looked like a Peewee team out there.
  5. I think Boston is about to get a penalty to last them the rest of the game...
  6. And Ryder just showed why he was demoted. Shoot that biscuit, Michael...
  7. Which is about 15 games longer than he managed to string together at any point last season
  8. Kovalev seems to be reborn, and part of that credit has to go to Gainey and Carbonneau, as well as whomever else on the team may have had a hand in it. Whatever happened last year between Carbo and certain players seems to be gone. The respect looks like it's going both ways now, and the Habs front office has really tried to solidify the team. As was mentioned on the last TSN broadcast, Kovalev is having fun now; he's not the same person we got as a desperate move to try and save this team from the brink of the abyss. I beleive he genuinly enjoys the city, the team, and now his coaching staff. He may not have to like his coach all the time, and no player usually does, but as long as they both respect each other and make decisions for the betterment of the team, then it's a happy union. It's also nice to see two young stars on our roster feeding off what Kovalev is giving almost every shift, every game. The same way Higgins has become a more complete player playing with Saku, Kostitsyn and Pleckanc seem to be learning from Kovalev. Plekanec has learned how to be responsible on a line that features two offensive talents without sacrificing his own, and Kostitsyn could stand to learn a thing or two from Alex (this years Kovalev, not last years). While it wasn't a great game to watch, in the end it almost was. You need to find ways to win even when you shouldn't; and we definitely shouldn't have tonight. This team IS different from last years team, and it's plain as daylight. We're a team now, not a group of individuals carrying a team. We're not always gonna be the best team on any given night, but as long as you're at least the 8th best team come April...well, that's a step up from where we were last year. Two steps up, in fact.
  9. ...did that just occur? I can't even begin to explain how many things were not meant to happen with that winner.
  10. Isn't that the second time we've scored right after you turned the TV off? You're not allowed to watch the game anymore!
  11. Man, we can't even catch a break when the Refs DON'T call penalties on us.
  12. Hahahaha. When was the last time we had a star player get a penalty shot?
  13. Allright, that call gives the referees at least a one or two game berth on making bad calls. It always seems like we're getting the short end of the stick when it comes to reffing, but that was definitely a gift there.
  14. Did I miss something there? Brisebois high sticks someone, the play goes on, then the goal gets reviewed and Patrice gets a penalty?
  15. Just because we overpaid him doesn't mean we can't use him. He lost his spot on defence, and he's making up for it by providing speed and energy on the lower lines as well as giving us a stronger PP unit. No, it's not worth 1.7 million, but it's better than $1.7 million sitting in the box. Also, nice work Pleks. Right into Miller. At first I thought it was him being held and driven into the goalie, but he went right into him without trying to move.
  16. Higgins has really impressed me with his play deep in the offensive zone. He's got some hands, that's for sure.
  17. When Mats Sundin busts someone's face open with a high stick, it's self defence. In fact, Komisarek should get a double-minor for hitting Mats...bloody CBC...
  18. Saku Koivu is on pace for 164 goals this season. .. .. Oh, sorry. *knockonwood*
  19. Did I really see right? I saw Kovalev bodycheck a Carolina player off the puck on the backcheck, and then the next shift I saw Grabovsky seperate Staal from the puck on the cycle.
  20. Wow. This officiating is brutal. Three miscalls in a row, two for the Habs one for Carowhina.
  21. Mark Streit is like an owl. "Sheldon whooooo? Sheldon whoooo?"
  22. I feel a little akward complaining about a french channel in english, but whatever it takes As long as I have at least regular RDS, I'll be happy. But not ecstatic. Especially if RDSHD is going to have F1, in that case I'd be stupid not to get it. If any of you other BCers know, be sure to put it up here. And if you're on the island, come on over for some brewskies and HD Habs.
  23. Does anyone what's up with the RDS HD feed? I haven't seen an RDS HD channel pop up, so I'm not sure how they're going to go about doing that. I need to know if I'm going to bother buying an HD terminal to hook up to my 1080p LCD monitor...assuming Shaw offers RDS HD out here in BC.
  24. Pierre, let me congratulate you on coming to one of the most beautiful places in North America. I've lived in Victoria all 21 years of my life, and while it tends to get old, all it takes is a road trip away from here to remind me how nice it is. If you feel like grabbing a few beers a pub while you're passing by, let me know. I'll show you South VanIsle. Congratulations again, Malaspina is a great place to learn.
