  1. Confidence was the word. Leafs-Bruins-Bruins. What an opertunity to gain that confidence. Kick some Leafs around and then wrestle the bear!
  2. If the Kings moved "Notan" so make room for Souray why couldn't a plain trade been made?
  3. Can't say Im happy about yesterday. I was hoping for something to happen. The Islanders got Smyth for Robert Nilsson and picks. I can't stop thinking what Smyth could have done in Montreal. Even if it's just a rental I think the Islanders got him cheap. Compare it with Rivet and the San Jose trade. Plekanec and a first round pick and maybe another throw-in prospect might have been enough? In my opinion Ryan Smyth would even be worth more to our team. Im really trying to figure out what happened, but I guess time will tell. Did Bon try to get a boost or did he want to sell Souray but couldn't get what he asked for in return? Or did he dump Rivet just to clear cap-space so he can resign Souray? And why did he claim Leighton without moving another goaltender? There's no doubt that Montreal has too many goaltenders that has the potential to be solid starters.
  4. I like the 3-point system. Every game is worth 3 point. If it's a tie after full time both teams get a point. And the sudden death and shotout is just for the extra point.
  5. If Bon won't pick up that second line center then why hasn't he dealt Souray by now? Souray and Aebischer gone soon for someone like Brendan Morrison?
  6. NOOOO!!! I don't want to see Perreault in a Leafs jersey! Not again! To me he will always be a Canadiens, but I think this perhaps make him a Maple Leaf for good. God forbid.
  7. Another goalie. So the situation right now is that the Habs have five goaltenders with NHL experience. Yann Danis, Jaroslav Halak, David Aebischer, Cristoball Huet and Michael Leighton. And comming closer each day is Carey Price. To me it seems like this move was made just to make another. Aebischer or Halak? Aebischer is the number one and Halak the young one that should have a raised some interest latley...
  8. Interesting deal! San Jose get's a right handed defenceman with lots of experince. Since he's a UFA at season end I think they made a good deal. Montreal gets a first rounder and a young defenceman with NHL experince! That's something much needed! Habs also dumped some salary. Saku Koivu's play won't be affected. He's a pro. I expect nothing other from out captain who now is the longest serving team member. Funny thing. Guess who's second? Franky B. But the real questions starts with this trade... What's the purpose? Salary dump so they can keep guys like Souray? Use the pick like bait to get a second line center? Or have the scouting staff seen somthing I have missed? I tought this comming draft was so-so?
  9. This is the exact same team that was fourh in the east during christmas. That should tell something. Small, small things can have huge impact. Montreal won't have to sell the whole team but it is time to make a move to ignite some sparks. If Souray will sign with a western californa team then the timing could be right to deal him. But a complete selloff?
  10. That's why the pick is conditional. In a perfect world the other team in San Jose... Everybody wins.
  11. A conditional first rounder and and a second line center for Souray is not too much. Souray's shot from the blue line and powerplay potential should make his price somewhat high.
  12. Our current situation might force Souray to California. Sheldon would be vital to the Habs in a playoff, but as the team perform right now, they won't even be there and Souray will probably sign elsewhere. Therefore I expect him to be gone before the deadline. San Jose would be the first choice but what could he get us back?
  13. Im trying to say something about finns in general. Koivu getting critizised for being himself. Finnish leadership differs from North American. I don't think many disagree. Europeans doesn't have the same "GO". Im not saying it's a bad thing, just different. Canada has won more titles than any other hockey-country and a major factor is the winning-mentality. Think about it, how would Montral fans react if the Habs had played in 7 Stanley Cup finals but only won one? It would be a standing joke in Toronto...
  14. Things can change fast. Assume Koivu carries this team to the cup. I'd say his jersey could go up there. Problem is: He's from Finland. Finns never win. Just look at their national team. 7 international finals and one win. Just look at the stanley cups. The teams with most finns lost. They lack the mentality.
  15. I love them. Fantastic team and always fun games to watch when they play the Habs. And about the fans... They're like a mixture of Leafs and Habs fan.
  16. Maybe this is the start of a hectic week. Now get Forsberg to Detroit so we can have Robert Lang or Pavel Datsuyk!
  17. Lots of talk but the only ones that making it is the Flames. I blame it on Forsberg. Once he finds a new home I expect the avalanche to start. No matther what team he ends up they will have to move a body to a team that will have to do the same thing, and the chain reaction is on. Im almost hoping that he will end up in Detroit so they have to move one of Datsyuk or Lang. Lang-Kovalev has clicked before and Samsonov-Datsuyk shoudl be leathal...
  18. No idea what so ever. My opinion is just that it would be awesome since I see him as one of the most underrated players in the NHL.
  19. Shawn Horcoff would be awesome. During the lockout season Shawn Horcoff was the hottest player in Europe. Forsberg, Näslund, Hossa, Kipprusoff and a lot of stars played in Sweden that season. The top 3 where Horcoff, Kiprusoff and Brendan Morrison...
  20. You´re right and that old rumor about daddy Fedorov being a Habs-fan could possibly make Sergei to give it a try... Long-shot, I know, but right now that could be worth something.
  21. Pushing for a deal. Here's my solution: Samsonov - X - Kovalev Higgins - Koivu - Ryder Latendresse - Bonk - Johnson Lapierre - Begin - Kostitsyn So where's Plekanec and Perezhogin? I don't know but I think the price will be high if the Habs want someone for the first line to get Kovalev and Samsonov going. Fedorov?
  22. Panic in Habsland. As Europeans it's kind of funny to see. When the team is not performing everyone are crap. Kovalev has no heart, Samsonov is a floater, Sourray are worthless and Koivu are a bad captain. Not to mention Carbo, the overrated prospects and Michael Ryder... Come on! Here's what I think. When Gainey sent Ribeiro to Dallas and Theodore to Colorado he intended to use the salary and Aebischer to get a new center for the second line. But there's hasn't been any player available so far so the deal hasn't been made. I will go so far and say that the Canaiens would have been a better team with Ribs still on the team. Let's start with Samsonov. He's been a consistent 20 goals guy all his career. But he's been player with great centers like Thonton and Smyth. There should be no doubt that Samsonov can score goals but he will never do unless someone feeds him. Just look at Kovalev. Last season he had 65 points in 69 games. And he was not a better player last season. The simple answer is that the third link is missing. And this doesn't only affect Kovalev and Samsonov. The pressure on the first line increase as well and what guys do we have there? 3 forwards with less than 6 NHL seasons total. Latendresse, Higgins and Ryder. Solve this problem and there will be magic. It will cost, but let it as the reward will be great. Get Sergei Fedorov.
  23. What's with all the optimism? The Montreal Canadiens are sitting fourth i the Eastern Conference and we're talking about blaming the coach för not making the cut?! I know it's close down to 8th but look at what teams play in our own division. Buffalo Sabres, the team with the best overall record thus far. Ottawa who could be at 3rd any time soon, and Toronto at 9th with one singe point up to last years cup-winners, but with two games less played. And Fanpuck33, you use to have good arguments, but now I don't know... Basicly the same team as last year? Bulis and Bonk from ´06 compared to Johnson and Bonk ´07. There's a big difference. And in my opinion it's the third and fourth line that decides it in the end. What this teams needs is CHEMISTRY up front and the Habs are a contender.
