  1. just checking -- there is no TV coverage of this game anywhere, we are all on radio, right?
  2. I don't miss Sisto, to be honest. He came across awfully smug, often rubbed me the wrong way. That said, this Moffat does not sound like a natural play-by-play announcer, so I might take shortcut's suggestion and switch to French, anyway, I'll give Moffat a chance to loosen up a little.
  3. For us who like to listen in French, CHRC pregame is on too. http://www.chrc.com/ Click on the image of the radio at the bottom left. In the next window, click 'cliquez ici pour l'écoute' and Windows Media Player will open the link. :ghg::ghg::ghg: another en francais option is CKAC.com
  4. Checked TSN and I see what you mean, six games and three teams scored more than six goals each. Lots of hooking/holding penalties. Yeah, maybe we're seeing these high-scoring games because the checking isn't close and the players are all going for goals, to impress their coaches? And as for penalties, I think if the refs crack down on obstruction we'll see a lot more power play/shorthanded situations this year (at least until/if the players learn to play within the new rules). So it will be important that the Habs can put good special teams together. Never thought I'd say this but we may miss Brisebois! (Patrice had a goal and an assist, both on the power play, in Colorado's 4-2 win over Dallas today) [Edited on 18-9-05 by JeanLucPilon]
  5. Latendresse isn't playing. But, that aside, very nice illustrations! :/):/):/) Yup, I see the proper game lines have now been announced and posted, so I updated my prediction accordingly.
  6. Wow, I would not admit that here if I were you -- to most Habs fans the Toronto goal song has the same effect as fingernails scraped across a blackboard!
  7. Don't you mean the Habs goal song? Wonder if it will be the same this year, wonder what other changes there might be in the production side of the BigBell games.
  8. CJAD's website says they are covering the preseason games, but to it is a little vague: "CJAD will provide you coverage of every Canadiens pre-season game" -- could that mean just a post-game report on the news or whatever? I'm pretty sure it means Rick Moffat and whoever the color man is will actually broadcast the game. 19h00 Sept 18, that's about 24 hours away. Prediction: Habs 5 Thrashers 4 Perezhogin (2), Ribeiro, Bulis (2) [Edited on 18-9-05 by JeanLucPilon]
  9. Long time since I've seen one too! Looks just fine now.:/) I will be listening on CJAD internet, I guess I'll see a few of you guys here then. I envy you puck, enjoy the game! :hlogo::ghg::hlogo:
  10. Good to see one of these Spiderman! by the way, needs some tweaking I think -- I have IE and can see a lot of the HTML code in the preview, like in the roster list, code such as "FONT=arial" and "COLOR=blue" is showing as text. Is it just me? [Edited on 17-9-05 by JeanLucPilon]
  11. Allison is out as well, winder how many Leaf will be left for opening night?
  12. You have to like the fact that Habs 'adopted' an abandoned mascot. He won't have the space to romp at BigBell like he did at the Stade, so will have to run round in the stands or something during games, probably also skate round a bit before games? I hope he messes with visiting teams some (especially the Leaf) like he did with the Dodgers all those years ago when he was booted by the ump. He can liven things up some for younger fans. But his work will largely be in the community, visiting kids' groups and hospitals and so on. In this role, the only option the team had before Youppi was to send a player along with some guys in suits. So yeah, I think Youppi! will make a fine addition to the Habs team.
  13. I might as well chime in here before the season starts: Philadelphia Tampa Bay Montreal Boston Ottawa New Jersey Pittsburgh Atlanta
  14. Welcome to Habs World ATHLÉTIQUE.CANADIEN! Let me guess -- are you a Ryder fan? Maybe this is a stupid question, but can you tell me which team is overall more popular in the Maritimes, the Habs or the Leafs?
  15. yup, rumours for a long time are that it's going to be Youppi! Should be a good mascot, and with his size and spirit (Youppi! holds the distinction of being the first mascot ever ejected from a baseball game), we could, what the heck, give him a shot with Ribs and Ryder on the second line! :ghg::ghg::ghg: [Edited on 16-9-05 by JeanLucPilon]
  16. True, but this probably will be a longer stint. Whoever fill in for Huet will play games so personally I would rather see a goalie will AHL experiance at the very least. I guess, until December, Theo will play a whole lot of games. He's still young, and he's egotistical, so I would expect he'd have the ability and desire to "carry the team" untill Huet is ready.
  17. Would anyone expect that minutes played will be about equal for the Koiviu/Ribeiro/Bonk lines? I wonder, will Julien match Bonk with the other team's first line like he did with Juneau/Dackell before? Back then Juneau/Dackell were getting as much or more ice time than our "first" line.
  18. yup, just want to chime in and say thanks puck -- it makes all the talk we've done for the last year and a half suddenly real when I read those reports and see those pictures. We have a team, dammit!
  19. Yeah, a finisher. Would be great if we found out we already have that player in Dagenais, we'll see soon enough.
  20. Yes you can log on and listen to CJAD online, free! That's what we far-flung fans have had to settle for for years, as we have no source for watching the game. But, if you plan to watch RDS with the sound turned off, and use the CJAD internet stream for the play-by-play, you should know that many posters have reported there is a delay of some several seconds between th eone and the other, they don't sync up so it might not work out so well. Better to brush up on your French, there is not a whole lot of vocabulary involved in hockey broadcasts!
  21. Whew! CJAD still on, that's good. As for the time difference, Tokyo works out well, most games start around 9:00 a.m., so no midnight wakeup, it's a nice way to start the day. BTW, you guys probably know Dino Sisto won't be back, as he given a major misconduct for stalking some female Bell Center employee so it seems. This is from callofthegame.com: Montreal Canadiens Moffat to call English play-by-play Rick Moffat will take over for the deposed Dino Sisto as the English voice of the Canadiens on CJAD-AM 800. Moffat, a 44-year old Lachine, Que., native, made his debut during the 2004 playoffs. With more than 20 years of sports radio experience, Moffat covered the CFL's Montreal Alouettes since the club's rebirth in 1996. Moffat began his play-by-play career with the Montreal Machine in what is now the NFL Europe. Thu 04 August 2005 - I wonder who will do color commentary, anyway we'll find out Sept 18, Thrashers are the first preseason opponent. :ghg:
