We have been defense first as long as I can remember. We still may be. I do believe however there is recognition in the importance of a true number one center in the game that is played today.

Yeah! I would add this to the conversation. Does anyone here believe that MB's ears have been clipped a little bit? Would you be surprised if Mark Hunter showed up in the near future? I have been after the Canadiens to address the center situation shortly after they won their last cup. At least now , they recognize the problem and are trying to do something about it.

I think they will be a crossover team, at least they are in the mix. I appreciate a team that decides who they are at the deadline. Too many teams scrape into playoffs and concede their window of opportunity to get significantly better in the future.

Agree totally. Just going to spit ball here. We have heard about a McDonagh for Pax trade. What if we added Kreider (who is done for the year)for Petry. We become better for next year and the Rangers are better for the playoffs.

I am in no way a Bergevin fan. I do think we are not that far away. We are forced to bring a half a team of young guys along just to make the payroll work. For six years now, our guys never got the experience other teams got in the playoffs in the AHL. Our guys are simply behind. This year we are taking our knocks. Next year, we should be a lot better. The deadline brings a time of year that you can get a premium value for most players. You take premium value if you get it and move on.

In your HO, how full or empty is the glass today? Are we ready to break it down and reload ? Or are we going to get a couple bodies to top up what we got? Where does Bergevin fit in all of this? Seems to me these questions have to be answered before we suggest what we need in return..

Exactly. I have been an advocate of keeping much more cap space if at all possible than we normally do; since the cap started. Teams have been rewarded some nice prospects and/or picks if you can help a team in cap purgatory. There is not truth to the rumor that you have to spend to the cap to be successful. We do know that you can spend to the cap and be unsuccessful.
