  1. MSL saying Allen will get the start. I would imagine the Thursday start will be between Allen or Primeau for trade deadline purposes
  2. I didn't think it needed to be stated that it would come with a pre-negotaited contract extension, as almost every other trade of this sort, but that's on me for not explicitly stating that. Rumor is he is at $11.5m AAV for an undisclosed amount of year right now. I would safely bet he will settle around the $11m AAV mark. Suzuki hasn't had a PPG season his entire career(0.78 PPG), possibly this will be his first. At 24 years old, there is nothing to indicate Suzuki is elite level, let alone a franchise center. He's no doubt a good top line or great send line center, which his career numbers clearly indicate. That comment is something you would jump over if someone else said it.
  3. It would be an elite center for a top line center and a young top-4 defenseman with top pair/elite potential. If Guhle wasn't an NHL mainstay, I would say it's about fair. A 22 year old current top-4 defenseman with 100 games of experience has significant value. Most defensemen are in they're mid 20's to be as far along in development. Guhle's current development certainly has him in the top pair/elite category, whether he reaches it or not is a different story. If he were put on Vancouver today, he most likely would be on the 2nd pair, even with how good Vancouver is. As much as I hate advanced stats, jfresh has him at 94% for even strength defense this season, so take that with a grain of salt. I'm not saying Vancouver would have to throw the kitchen sink at the trade, but I do believe in that scenario they would have to add something else.
  4. I would rather keep Caufield. Keep Caufield and Pettersson on different line as they’re both goal scorers. In theory it should spread out scoring and give Caufield easier opponents. I don’t think Guhle and Caufield for Pettersson is a fair trade. Vancouver would definitely have to sweeten the pot some to get that to work.
  5. Sounds like Vancouver is entertaining the idea of trading Pettersson as extension talks have stalled. They still hope they can resign him. The rumors have it, IF they do in fact trade him, they will be looking to bring in players with term. If he is in fact being traded, wouldn't offering Suzuki+ for Pettersson be a good idea? He's an upgrade offensively, Suzuki is having a career year, and Pettersson's value isn't has high as it should be because of the need to trade him. Vancouver will be looking for a replacement at center, and probably more. I don't see a scenario where it would happen without Caufield/Suzuki going the other way, with emphasis on replacing Pettersson at center. I have no idea the the + would entail. Just tossing out the idea here.
  6. When did the rules change that if you make contact with a player carrying the puck, they fall, it's now a penalty? Calling that a trip because of Caufield's back foot is like calling any hit elbowing, because the elbow makes contact.

  9. I'm not sure MSL is Anderson's problem. MSL puts Anderson in positions to succeed. Anderson has been getting some great chances, he's just severely snake bitten and it's not from lack of effort. He's a bit of an enigma. With his playstyle and the chances he's been getting, he should have more points. His career shooting % is listed at 11%, but has been 12%+ the last 4 years. He's shooting at 6.5% this year. Granted, he's spent the majority of this season in his own bubble on the ice, with his lack of awareness of his teammates. I see Anderson as just snake bitten and having a bad year. Sure we give him a hard time on these forums, but I honestly doubt this is the Anderson we see next season. I have been wrong before though.
  10. Just from a technical standpoint, Montreal only has 1 retention slot leaf for this season, so they can't retain on Anderson and Harris. From a value standpoint, I would imagine Vancouver wants much more in return for Lekkerimaki than Anderson and Harris, even with a big retention.
  11. If Vancouver is really interested in Anderson, I wouldn't be opposed to retaining Anderson for 4 years if the return from Vancouver included Letterimaki. The salary retention alone would be worth a significant amount to Montreal. That being said, I'm not sure Vancouver has an appetite for Anderson for 4 years. They could flip him sometime in the future. Very well doubt this scenario happens anyway.
  12. While that's what it could mean, it also could mean they were picked in the first round and still has second line potential. Without knowing who it was and what was actually meant that statement, making an assumption either way is equally as inaccurate.
  13. Nobody is completely untouchable, but I would say Xhekaj is just as untouchable as the defencemen you listed. While he was in the AHL Montreal was offered "a young NHL forward and a former first round pick with second line potential," according to the fourth period. That offer was rejected, which seems like a substantial offer for Xhekaj.
  14. From previous reports, add Xhekaj to that list as well.
  15. Just read Montreal has made Jordan Harris available, due to falling down the depth chart.
  16. Yet another close game lost because of a late penalty in which they let in a goal. It’s like the theme of this season. On another note, is it just me or is anyone else having intermittent issues where you hit submit reply on this forum and the comment doesn’t appear?
  17. Unless it's done during the draft. At 22, he's well under control of the team. Unless he is used as a trade chip, as you suggested, he could still be available at the draft.
  18. The cap hit numbers were the numbers Capfriendly had listed at Montreal's cap hit for those 2 years.
  19. From Capfriendly's buyout calculator: A Jake Allen buyout spans 2 years, has a cost of $1,533,333 and savings of $766,667. Allen is 33 years of age at the time of the buyout; therefore, the buyout ratio is 2/3. With $2,300,000 in salary remaining, the cost is $1,533,333, and the savings are $766,667. Buyouts span twice the length of the remaining years and because there is 1 year remaining in the contract, the buyout length is 2 years. The buyout cap hit is displayed in the Cap Hit Calculations table below. (below is abbreviated) Cap hits 24-25 - $2,316,667 25-26 - $766,667 By those calculations, trading Allen with 50% retained for futures is better cap wise, but does use a retention slot.
  20. Or Primeau goes somewhere in the off-season as apart of a package. Read that Buffalo may look for a goalie in the off-season in free agency or trade for a goalie with a year left so Levi could spend a full season in the AHL. Allen with retention is about what Buffalo would be spending in free agency.
  21. If what Bettman said is true, Reilly disagreed with others saying his actions were appropriate. As much as it pains me to respect a Leaf, I give him kudos for at least that.
  22. The goalie market is weird this year. Multiple teams are looking for goalie and there's some interesting names out there that may or may not be available. Saros is listed there too and I'm pretty sure Nashville still wants to resign him. Markstrom may or may not be available. Swayman may or may not be available. With 3 good goalies potentially available, teams don't want to commit until they know the status of at least those 3. Allen won't get traded until the deadline.
  23. The way he tried to get up and had those jelly legs, I'm shocked he's skating yet.
  24. He's still not expected to play a game this season, but he's started skating.
