  1. 14 goals and 20 assists last season @ 24. Thats 6 more goals and 10 more assists. Gallagher would of did that type of jump this season barring injuries.
  2. While you could be 100% right, Shaw is only 24, he could feasibly put up 20+ goals, tack on another 30 assists and it's worth the $4m price tag, as long as he can keep it up for the duration of the contract. We keep forgetting the value of intensity he'll bring.
  3. I'm good with more grit. Now if we can get rid of DD and dump Pleks then pickup Stamkos, we have a team boys! One can dream... don't stop me now CC!
  4. No idea, all they said was "long term," that could mean 4+ years.
  5. According to that write up, would is be reasonable to believe Shaw would be getting $3.75-$4 per and that is fair? Eller was getting $3.5 so this only increases our cap by $500k
  6. sportsnet reporting a deal is near done with Shaw, and it's "long term."
  7. Guess this means the Subban trade isn't gonna happen. This is why Montreal wanted the pick, the player is gone, no need to pull the trigger on the 4th?
  8. I don't expect anyone will take DD, I would expect him to be bought out this weekend, unless MB can talk someone into taking his contract. If the Fowler for Montreal's 9th does happen. Emelin will be gone before the season starts.
  9. I'm good with these moves. Got a Gallagher-type right handed shooter, 5'11, 179lbs 24 years old. Now we don't look so weak on the right wing. Was told the Fowler for the 9th was practically done earlier. I expect that to be announced soon.
  10. Something else interesting is happening on the Subban front. All day TSN.com had a story about how Subban isn't going to be traded. I just check and that story is now gone, replaced by a timeline of Subban's events in montreal. While this doesn't guarantee a trade, it sure doesn't look good for Subban staying in montreal past tonight. I could just be reading too much into it.
  11. Take it for what it's worth. Jason Gregor from TSN 1260 here in Edmonton, who is in Buffalo reporting, Said Subban to Oilers is "close." Saying It's Draisaitl + 4th pick + something (Klefbom? Nurse? These players are my pure speculation, but there is a something) for Subban + 9th. George Laraque leaked the Draisaitl + 4th for Subban, but was wrong, apparently that is the offer the Oilers tabled, not Montreal. There was a hint, from a TSN reporter, MB countered with Hall + Klefbom + 4th for Subban + 9th and that would be more around the Value for Subban. Again, take it for what it's worth.
  12. tl;dr I'm living in Edmonton. Chiarelli already admitted after the trade deadline the best he can expect for Yak is a draft pick. Edmonton needs defence, Emelin is a defenceman. Edmonton has cap space, Emelin has a moderate cap hit. Edmonton wants Yak gone, Montreal needs a scroing forward. Honestly? Emelin + 3rd is probably all it'll take to get Yak. This isn't only my opinion, work with a lot of oilers fans.
  13. This is what I was crunching numbers on. It was at work so I don't have those numbers handy atm. Lucic - Stamkos - Gallagher Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Andrighetto Carr - Danault - Byron Flynn - Mitchell - Matteau Hamuis/Russel - Subban Markov - Petry Beaulieu - Barberio If I ran the numbers right, trading Desharnais, Emelin, Plekanec and Eller, we should have about 3m in cap space. this way we have 1a and 1b lines and top 2 defence pair can share minute, giving Markov a break when needed. Never tried to work yak into one of those trades to drop Andrighetto to the 3rd line and Matteau/Byron for the wing on the 4th. One can only dream.
  14. Crazy idea, and some assumptions. Assuming we can get a 2nd round+ for Markov how about, we bring back Gorges for the 2nd round we would potentially get for Markov? Personally I think our top 4 looks better as Subban, Petry, Beaulieu and Gorges than Subban, Petry, Beaulieu and Markov. Also younger. With anything more than a second round pick we end up arguably better, more assets, bigger role for Beaulieu, cheaper and better defensively. Markov is showing his age this season, offensively and more importantly defensively. Also Emelin for Yakupov. Straight trade. Overpriced defensive defenseman (as much as I like him) for an underachieving 1st overall pick that would be a steady winger for Chucky. Desharnais for a bag of pucks. Or Desharnais + prospect(or Scrivens) for E.Stall. Makes Pekanec expendable for whatever else we desire. Also gives Chucky/Stall 1/2 center. Sorry adding things over time. Plekanec(eat $500k-$1m) + Fucale + Prospect + mid round pick for Drouin + Coburn(Cap move).
  15. On TSN 1260 here in Edmonton there seems to be a rumor going around that centers around Eller for Yakupov. Maybe a chance to reunite the duo in Sarnia?
  16. Pretty sure the season is done. Habs have showed nothing to make anyone believe they are capable of making the playoffs this year and even if luck has it they do, they won't go far. Chucky should be put back at centre with Patches and Gally on the wings. No matter the outcome of the games, leave them together, let them build chemistry and prepare to be a line next year. If the Habs truely want Chucky to be the future #1 centre, this is kind of a perfect storm. Nothing to lose, everything to gain situation.
  17. So I've watched about 10 minutes of hockey in the last 2 weeks because of this. Worse part is all the "without Price" comments are completely false. Condon has player nearly as good as Price on many occasions, but can't win a game when your team doesn't score or as in tonight's case, when your down by 4 already. Defense and goaltending isn't the problem with the team now. It's the same problem as the Habs have been having for a very long time, offense. The lack of pure goal scorers is glaring right now. We can point the finger all we want at Pacioretty, but the fact is he has a supporting cast of nothing. 11 other forwards, no goal scorers. Our 2nd best goal scorer on the ice is Galchenyuk, a playmaker. I was hopeful of Semin, but he didn't work out. No money to sign a goalscorer, so we got what we paid for with Semin. Kinda hard to have cap space for a goal scorer with we have $24m of $70m cap (34%) wrapped up in 4 guys who can't be relied on to score goals, Subban, Markov, Emelin, and Petry. Somebody need to get creative somewhere. We need cap relief and another goalscorer. Sadly at this point, to get that we are probably looking at Plekanec or Petry being the only players we have with enough value and return to improve our scoring situation that will relieve the cap space enough to afford the replacement. Tis dark times.
  18. Well if anyone wants to see a bad call, watch a clip of that penalty again. That was 2 for interference max. At first I thought it was a headshot and I would of been fine with the call. Shoulder to shoulder and nobody in white and black could of stepped up and said "that wasn't that dirty." If the puck didn't get batted away mid-pass, that would of been a proper timed good hit. Now we're down a defenceman and on the PK for 5.
  19. Anyone else impressed with McCarron? Got a goal and throwing the body. I'm liking what I see from him. Found a HD stream on youtube for RDS as my GameCanter has it blacked out.
  20. Just found it. In case anyone is wondering it's easy to find, but they aren't advertising it as of yet. On Canadiens.com just hit the Habs TV link on the menu bar. It loads the live stream first, which is just colored bars right now as it's not on air. http://video.canadiens.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=66&lang=en The warmup is over, should be starting soon.
  21. The biggest reason for Eller moving to LW in the 2nd line instead of Desharnais could be for the exact reason you mentioned bdlbalr. If they are putting Semin on Galchenyuk's RW, for offensive purposes, Eller's defensive play may be what required on that line. We all know Semin isn't an all-star defensive player, and Galchenyuk is young. They need a defensive anchor on that line. If Plekanec is going to be top line center and we need a defensive presence on the 2nd line, it's either Eller or really maybe DSP. Desharnais isn't defensive enough to cover the lapses. I still don't see much of a future for Desharnais on the team if he isn't playing a top 6 role. I think bottom 6 matchups would be too physical for Desharnais to be effective. The kid's got skill and heart, but disappears when things get physical. TSN floated the idea of Plekanec being traded this season, maybe that's whats is really behind all of this. Desharnais to center 1st/2nd line and Plekanec gets moved?
  22. So what happens if Eller does end up playing LW on the 2nd pair? Where does that leave Desharnais' future with the team?
