  1. Well, Habs beat the Aves in Jan., wonder what odds are they will do it again.

    On paper, looks pretty one-sided.

"...Tweaking these things in small ways that make him more effective — teaching him how to blend fakes and look-offs into his passes, helping him learn to hide his intentions offensively, and more — is the way forward to unlocking 40- to 50-point upside. And that’s where Lane Hutson comes in."

Wheeler has 11 prospects in his "tier 2", ranked from 2 to 12, seems like there are many options at a fairly similar level once you get past Celebrini.

Yes, is going to be very hard to predict and ranking are all over the map after 1st.

I'm not going to get excited about any prospects

    Why not, dosent cost anything?

Engströms Rögle still tied with Färjestad after 5 periods. Waiting for 6th period now. If Rögle win they are up 3-0 in the series.

Eriksson 0pts 14:17 in win, up 3-0 in series

Engstrom 0pts 4 shots 27:53 at end of period 5.

    Kapanen 0pts 2 shots 18:19 9/22 in win, up 3-0 in series

I assume you mean his signing a PTO ... is Florian certain enough of getting an NHL contract that he would decline such an offer, or might he also want to "show his wares" if he is eliminated early enough to warrant an offer?

dlbalr was talking about Guindon, not Xhekaj

  6. Quinn Hughes on being small offensive d-man going form NCAA to NHL.

Canadiens weekly notebook: An awkward milestone, an endorsement for Lane Hutson and more - The Athletic

“I figure why you’re asking, but I’m sure he’ll figure it out and he’ll be fine.”

"He, of course, is Canadiens prospect Lane Hutson, a similarly undersized offensive defenceman currently completing his season at Boston University. Hutson’s name was never mentioned to Hughes, but he had no problem identifying the reason behind the question. Hutson has been compared to Hughes for years, and Hughes clearly knows it."

“Right away, for the most part, I think I felt very confident. My first year couldn’t have gone better. I had a great season, and the second year, we struggled. I thought my third fourth and then this year have been really good. It’s just about building,” Hughes said. “Lane’s going to … it’s not about how good he is at 20 or 21, it’s about how good he is at 25, 26. I tell my brother Luke that, focus on one foot in front of the other, and he’s having a great year, too, but just keep grinding so that at 23, 24 you can say you’re one of the best in the league."

  8. I meant. Why dont they (St Louis) play Ylonen over the slug forwards that are getting more icetime, to finish off the season and see what he can do with 14-15 instead of the 10:13 minutes/game and some more PP time?

    2 hours ago, tomh009 said:

The discussion I was replying to was about potentially testing Ylonen for the rest of the season. not about the D choices for next season.

I would have preferred Anderson being sent down to Laval

I know he has big contract; but, AHL time seemed to of given Armia a wake-up call (your career is tanking... gotta work harder or smarter!).

At some point, you have to sit him or do something different dont you, Torterella would!.

While I'm hoping he does, it sounds like a Swedish team is gearing up to make a run at signing him.

Knowing training camp may be deciding factor if he plays in Laval or Europe, wouldnt another year there be fine for his development anyways?

  11. 14 hours ago, tomh009 said:

If St-Louis won’t give him ice time then there is little point in doing that.

    Not sure what you mean?

Canadiens’ offseason will likely be dictated by how they manage their greatest strength - The Athletic

If stuff Hutson, Reinbacher & Engstrom in Laval for a year, then just have 9 others to shuffle.

Can you play both Struble & Xhekaj as your #2 and #3 LH-d?

Supposedly Engstrom has played right, as has Harris & Guhle.
