  2. Kinda assume upcoming UFAs Armia-Savard-Dvorak-Allen-Evans be much more tradable next deadline. Armia has looked pretty good since return from AHL and maybe some GM might like him?
  3. An upgrade on Suzuki, but Habs have other holes in roster, why make a move like that now? A centre for a centre, still leaves Habs without a legit #2 centre but, if could add Pettersson for a winger (Caufield) and young d (Guhle) &/or picks would be more appetizing.
  4. Any recent update on Struble?
  5. Come on Leafs, empty the tank! You got picks left.
  6. Dont imagine any GM will be that desperate for Savard and staying 1 more year wont hurt any, he can provide bit of experience for Mailloux-Reinbacher to learn from.
  7. 15 shots for the 1st line, i like that. Slafkovski with 1 timely goal, 6 shots 3 hits and continues to do good stuff. As does this fella, now tied for 30th in scoring & playing 21:13/game which is 4th in NHL for centres. Canadiens’ Nick Suzuki goes toe-to-toe with Panthers’ Aleksander Barkov - The Athletic Suzuki and Barkov were matched up all night, and their numbers looked very similar. Suzuki vs. Barkov PLAYER G A PTS TOI PP TOI PK TOI FO % Suzuki 1 2 3 22:16 5:00 2:46 40% Barkov 1 2 3 22:58 7:06 3:40 58%

  9. Nice end to the period! Suzuki up to 58pts in 59 2/3 games, go Suzy! 5 shots for Suzuki, 4 for Slafkovski
  10. Guhle got beat on 1st goal against, oh well chaulk it up to experience.

  12. I guess Habs traded Romanov for the 13th pick.
  13. I am pretty sure (if my foggy memory is correct) that Hughes did try to 'bundle' picks and trade up at both drafts and no takers. Of course, his demands could of been too high & written in stone and he didnt 'try' too hard to move up? But, he said he did try.
  14. I would assume so and am guessing the demand for a Tanev/Savard just isnt there.
  15. With a late 1st round pick, just a NHL-regular would be better than average. Similar to Dach/Newhook, we dont expect them to become all-stars or even 1st line players (hope so but dont expect it). Teams just arnt willing to give up on a young forward prospect doing great, unless getting a Guhle/Hutson-type + 1st pick, or some kind of painful return back.
  16. I assume Conroy took the 2nd pick as no one was willing to offer up a 1st. Not sure i would want to see Savard dealt for just a 2nd and be fine if just keep him till next deadline. Wheeler's take on Stars d-prospect. Dallas Stars are No. 21 in 2024 NHL prospect pool rankings - The Athletic 10. Artyom Grushnikov, LHD, 20 (Texas Stars) Grushnikov is a fascinating case study in that despite a statistical profile that virtually never translates to the NHL, he has always had some believers because of his skating, length and ability to defend. He’s got balanced posture and control in his skating, which he uses effectively gapping up. He’s an excellent backward skater. He’s got a disruptive stick and an ability to track and then close out physically (which hasn’t always been part of his game but has developed over time). He’s got a pro build at 6-1 and a playing weight in the 190s. He has just enough poise and vision with the puck to advance play and occasionally involve himself (he started to activate more late in his junior career, and while that hasn’t continued in his rookie season in the AHL, I do think there are more opportunities for him to use his smooth skating and influence play than he realizes). He has defended well for a 20-year-old rookie in the AHL. Time will tell if his defending is high-end enough to carry him into a No. 6/7 role, but the Stars clearly have belief in him or they wouldn’t have drafted him in the second round, signed him and bypassed the ECHL for the AHL.
  17. Jakub Dobeš pitches first shutout to get Laval on winning track (habseyesontheprize.com) "...Head coach J.-F. Houle was also feeling the same, with Riley Kidney being a healthy scratch in the midst of a long scoreless drought. Nathan Légaré replaced him in the lineup,... "

  19. Writers Weigh In: Who Will Montreal Trade Next? – HabsWorld.net Ylonen, Matheson.... hmm who knows?
  20. Hope Rohrer matures well over next season+ in Swiss league and has a bit bigger role next season . https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/montreal-canadiens-european-prospects-2024-02-27-stats-highlights-david-reinbacher-adam-engstrom-filip-eriksson-bogdan-konyushkov-oliver-kapanen-vinzenz-rohrer-yevgeni-volokhin/ How soon will we see Reinbacher in a Hab jersey... am getting anxious! "...A lot has been said about Kloten’s season, but the fact is that Reinbacher has stood tall when the others around him have faltered, and I expect him to continue to do so under the circumstances that he will face. He is Kloten’s best player and it’s not close as you watch the team play. It would have been easy for him to drop with the rest of his team, but his character and pride don’t let him, and that is something that should really speak to Montreal fans all over the world."
  21. I think Hughes is more likely to trade a pick(s) for another Dach/Newhook type and not trade up. But, maybe no one else has a similar young player they are looking to give up on? I think Hughes has picked the bones of the 2019 draft class. How bout the 2020 class now?
  22. Guhle was -2 but i still liked how he worked hard defending around Montembeault, 24:09. Harris must be happy to get 2 points and 17:34. Armia averages 14.4g/82games, seems will end up around his norm at end of year. Roy continues to make some smart plays with puck and doing well.
