I don't know if I should laugh or cry Don Cherry , Brett Hull and Pierre McGuire on the same game telecast , and if you sprinkle some dry Bill Clement and some chicken parm Ferraro on it and you have a recipie for disaster They should just add JR and get it over with.

I think a Gretz as GM and Pat Quinn as coach would work well.

well I guess it's alittle redemption for Chicago ... they were the 2nd worst team in Ovechkins draft and would have gotten malkin but Washington won the lottery and go the 1st and bumped pittburgh to 2nd. Hopefully they get what they need to become compedative again ... Chicago is a market the NHL really needs to do well.

Again Bettman did not move the NHL to another station ... the OWNERS did ... so stop blaming Bettman for everything. he's not the NHL's dictator. The 30 owners were given a proposal from both ESPN and COMCAST and they voted and decided on which to go with ... they chose COMCAST i'm assuming because comcast would make the NHL it's top priority and not it's 5 or 6th like it would be on ESPN.

I don't understand why your so hateful and negative towards Bettman ... I to don't like some of the things that have changed in recent years .. but they're not all Bettman's fault ... the owners make changes to the game .. Bettman just relays that to the public. I'm sure there are some things he thinks of but the owners have the last say in weather or not it goes though. Just like i'm sure the stock holders of a large company would be all over the CEO if he did something that would cause them to lose money.

DUDE .. Why is it the captians sole responsibility to motivate a whole team ? That's not Saku's job. Each player should be able to motivate themselves ... they're professional hockey players playing in a do or die game ... if they can't motivate themselves for that, then nothing Saku's says would be able to.

I believe the NHL will grow alot in the next couple of decades ... you have to remember that things don't change over night ... look at the NHL now .. there are more players that were trained and raised in California that play professional hockey. the habs have one . Cameron Cepek. normally those kids play Baseball or Football. USC and UCLA have club hockey teams and play in the PAC8. Although it's only club teams how long before it becomes official and they start to play teams like BC and BU etc ... USC plays at the rink I play at ... that didn't exsist 10 years ago. It's going to take time but I believe it's going to get better. Oh and I noticed at my last game that the traveling Bantam " jr ducks" team that plays at my rink won there division at tournament in Quebec ! yes canada ! PTG i don't have a problem with you bro .. but your attacking someone that has no "direct" effect on how the NHL game is changed ... the owners do. So if your looking for someone to hate, hate the owners for wanting to make money. cause they make these changes to sell the sport so they can make more money.

Maybe it's not the refs Maybe it's the fact that the Habs were on there heals the whole period and the Leafs were taking it to them. Teams that are having there asses handed to them usually are the ones taking penalties ... if the Habs can come out in the 2nd with the same fire as the leafs did in the 1st, maybe the leafs will have some calls go against them. Just a thought

I don't know why you guys single out Bettman for everything ... it's the GM's and owners that vote for rule changes and things that change in the game ... the reason there are points for losing in OT and the shootout is because the OWNERS want it that way not Bettman. Basically all Bettman does is be the face of the collective owners and speak on they're behaf ... Bettman doesn't just say " you know I want to take fighting out and it happens ... the owners decide that. Bettman only makes sure that they vote fairly and keep owners from killing each other.

I'm american and I care Ryan Flinn ... Still hasn't played a game of hockey anywhere that i've heard of since his head hit the ice during a fight because his helmet fell off. But i agree with Fanpuck on the issue of weather fighting is even worth it. Years back almost everyone would be willing to drop the gloves and most players did at least once a season. When Vinny fought Iginla that was old school style hockey. That kinda stuff used to happen all season long. Now it's just fights between guys like Boogard who's 6'5: 270 ... think Joe Sakic or even Iginla for that matter will want to jepordize there carears to fight a no talant ass clown like that ?

I agree with Mr. Todd here ... although some of us here don't want to hear the word "rebuild" .. they've never done it right. The Habs have a bunch of young talent ... why not give them the riens and struggle for a few seasons ( like they are now ) and get some high solid picks to build on. Like Alex said about Arnott .. in hinesight the habs should have thrown more money at him instead of sammy and niniima. They shouldn't repeat that mistake. Throw the bank at Marleau. he's got speed , size , hands , leadership .. everything you could want and build around. he's still under 28 as well. also give the kids like Kotsy and Guy higher minutes. Trade , Kovy , Sammy , Prez , ( is Souray is kept ) Bouillion and Dandy Let go , Ninnima , Abby So here is the possible lineup Higgins , Marleau , Ryder ( or better UFA ) Kotsy , Koivu , Guy Plecks , Bonk , Johnson Begin , Lapierre , Milroy ex Murray Markov , Komi Souray , Defensive Dman ! Man what is this crap .. I get home from work and it's 6-1 in the 3rd :nono: I'm sorry but i've been very optimistic and now i feel that there is no hope for playoffs this season. All the talk about Gainey & Carbo is interesting ... although yes I feel and semi agree that they might get the axe for this mess. I feel bad for Carbo .. he's a defenisve coach with a bunch of players who can't play defense. Look up and down that line up and it's all floating offensive streaky players. How can you work with that ? The club has been though enough coaches and a few GM's ... it's time to ditch most of the core and try to either get better free agents or rebuild.
