Got to hand it to him though ... its pretty cleaver and alittle lucky ... he didn't break any rules .. even though this really sucks. Any team can do what he did if they so please.

SJ didn't make a trade for an overpriced player ... they're not paying him.

how do you figure ? SJ got a first round pick for two players who are not even on they're roster and are both over 27. Korolyk is playing in Russia again this season so he can't even play for NJ ... SJ got a gift for taking Malakhov's cap hit which SJ would not have used this season anyways. because malakhov retired as a devil they have to actually pay his salary

Don't forget about Anze Kopitar and O'Sullivan in LA ... Kopitar has been really good in the pre-season and he looked like the best player on the ice besides Selanne in the game I went too last monday Hopefully Lats can pull it off and take it ... that would be a good sign for the Habs playoff hopes. :king: oops .. sorry for the double post

I'm not saying it was a bad trade for either team ... I think SJ made out alittle better ... they dump two players that were not going to play for them ... eat up cap space that they were not going to use ( and don't even hae to pay the salary ) and get a first round pick that they can use to make a trade with .... what's not to like about that if your SJ

Basically NJ gave the Sharks a first round pick to eat up 3.6 mil in cap space ... from what i've been reading is that if malakov is technically retired still then NJ still has to pay his salary but it won't count against there cap ... and SJ picks up a first round pick for two players that will never play for SJ or probably the Devils too. I'd bet that SJ uses that pick or they're own to bolster they're own line up for a possible cup run. Btw Lamorillo forced this on himself and his team by signing him and mogilny to those rediculus contracts. now he has to give up a 1st round pick to un do the mess he made.

Interesting move ... BG must not have seen much improvement in Riberio to trade him for an underachiving Niinimaa ... either that or Carbo couldn't stand him ! I mentioned this about a week or two ago that I thought Bonk would do really well inbetween Sammy and Kovalev .... it would be like it was in Ottawa when he was centering Alfredson and Hossa. he would be the defensive forward on that line that would allow Sammy and Kovy the chance to open it up ... Riberio COULD NOT be that guy. Plecks would be the other choice. BG signing GUI got me really excited about opening day ... now this trade makes me extatic ! :ghg:

yeah as a kings fan too I remember all the "hype" about Aki Berg :puke: .... I think that because Gleason played for the Kings he's not as know as he should be ... he's already a top 4 defenseman ... allthough not very offensive ... he's the kind of player every team would love to have. he's going to be a Matty Nordstrom type ... solid , steady , leader.

yes but Murray brings a very good physical element to the game ... I dunno if you want to lose that. paper or plastic ?

Hopefully Carbo , Jarvis, BG and captian K can keep Guy grounded and teach him how to deal with the media and keep him as humble as possible

If you were the Habs GM would you trade Komisarek and Riberio for Johnson and Tverdovsky ?? I think that would be about equal to Gleason and Belanger I don't know if I would. but it would be tempting

I would guess Carolina feels Gleason will still get better ... although not as offensive as Johnson he's is very good defeinsive defensman, a solid hitter and is only 23/24 ... also I'm thinking that they feel Belanger could do what Matt Cullen did for them last year now that he's gone. they also unloaded Tverdovsky's salary

Sucks for Kotsy ... but he's gunna be able to light it up in the AHL ... he'll get called up quick

Was just for an example to show that three teams would need to be involved in some sort of deal with NJ. I wouldn't want that exact trade to happen

:king: YEEEEEAAAAHHH ! :king: I'm excited about this ... hopefully he can really help the powerplay .... although if he and Kotsy stay then the Habs are going to have a really young team. But that's ok ... but i'm smelling some type of trade or waiver action happening. Kotsy will probably at some point be sent to hamilton ... just so he can get some top line minutes.
