  1. -Travis Brown reassigned from Brampton to St. Johns -Brampton now has signed goalie #11 Eric Brassard from the Q. -Brampton has signed F Austin McKay (6'5"captain of Lake Superior State)
  2. Beast win 4-1 today in Glens Falls NY vs Adirondack. Goalie D'agostini was the first star in his fist start with the Beast. Second pro game-he had one game in the ECHL (Cincinatti) a few years ago after leaving the Peterborough Petes and going to U of Guelph
  3. D Dalton Thrower sent from Brampton to St Johns F Taylor MacDougall signed by Brampton (University of NB, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles previously) F Daniel Vernace activated from Reserve F Joey West placed on Reserve
  4. to totally confuse me, Brampton have signed D Travis Armstrong and F Jesse Stoughton to new contracts after releasing them last week. Also, goalie #10 for the season, Andrew D'Agostini (U of Guelph???)
  5. Brampton have released three players: D Travis Armstrong, F Colin Murray. F Jesse Stoughton. Murray release is a little puzzling-did score 3 goals in nine games
  6. Brampton have just signed two Carleton University players-Joey West and Mitch Zion. I am happy re the West signing. Was a favourite of mine with the Peterborough Petes
  7. Brampton now up to goalie #9-signed Michael Giugovaz (a Brampton native who played for the Guelph Storm) -signed defenseman Travis Armstrong (from SPHL Louisiana) -signed Patrick Magannety (Clarkson University) -sent Christian Weidauer back to Peoria Rivermen of the SPHL -released f Kyle Rankin
  8. Michael Vernace is back in Brampton after a couple months with AHL Stockton. Brampton have also signed his brother Daniel, a grad of Lake Superior State.
  9. Brampton signed F Tim Depretoro, a Ct College grad. Brampton D man Tim Billingsley suspended one game - suplimentary discipline-something to do with a uncalled (!) boarding deal in the previous game They're in tough against Orlando again today-2-0 Orlando with a couple minutes to go. Goalie Ruby Is playing well but Offence has dried up
  10. Brampton just waved the white flag for the season. Have traded Chris Auger to the Allen Americans and Scott Howes to the Missouri Mavericks. Both of those teams are playoff bound whereas Brampton has pretty well no chance. Sounds like both trades are for future considerations (maybe getting them back next season is a possibility). See Team website or Facebook Page for more info.
  11. I imagine Don it's the coaches, primarily Colin Chaulk who has had a lot of ECHL experience as a player and coach and GM Cary Caplan who was GM of the AHL Bulldogs back when they were Oilers affiliated. Turn over is crazy in the ECHL. Take a look at this years roster on hockeydb.com as an example. I think the goalie situation got complicated by injuries to Pitton and Cann early in the season plus I think a lot of us expected Wheeling goalie Frankie Palazzese (sp?) to be the Beast #1 goaltender this year. Instead he decided to stay with Wheeling (so must have signed a minor league contract with Wheeling's sole parent this year (Pittsburgh). Cann has had AHL experience with Cleveland but had expected to be the goalie for the Stoney Creek Generals in the Ontario Senior AAA league this season. The one that had me baffled was Eddie Pasquale. I thought he was a Winnipeg player and would have ended up with the AHL Manitoba Moose instead of Brampton and St. Johns.
  12. defenseman Dean Wilmott claimed by Brampton off Wavers from Adirondack. He played for Brampton last season. I think this will be the third ECHL team he has been with this season
  13. blacked out again in the Hamilton area. Remind me again how much more I'm paying the cable company for the red light channel?
  14. Brampton have signed Princeton University grad Kyle Rankin (F), a native of Kanata Ont
  15. just when things were looking a little brighter in Brampton, star player Scott Howes was suspended five games and fined an undisclosed amount for a rule 70 infraction Friday night vs Elmira. Sounds like he left the bench to join an altercation late in the game. Elmira won today 3-2 in an exciting game after Brampton goalie Ken Reiter whiffed on an offspeed shot to give the Jackals the lead. Beast came close to tying it up in the late stages. Exciting game anyways. Heard from a friend in Brampton that the city may be helping reduce the rent payments paid by the Beast
  16. Brampton have signed former Sarnia Sting forward Jesse Stoughton (spent last four years in Ontario University ranks)
  17. Brampton had a very nice comeback win today over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (Rangers affiliate) winning 4-3 after being down 3-1. The new acquistions played well and vet Scott Howes was back after missing 13 games. Former Blue Jacket Allen (sp?) York was in net for Greenville. Beast vet David Ling continues to amaze at age 41. Looking at his profile on hockeydb.com is the definition of Longevity
  18. Bennett's on his way back to the Rock from Brampton. Brandon Marino is on his way back from Brampton to Utica (was on loan by Utica)
  19. more Brampton news-Mac Bennett returned to St. Johns -Colin Murray acquired by Brampton in a trade with Kalamazoo (didn't say who or what for) -Brandon Marino (on loan from AHL Utica) returned to the Utica Comets -Jordan Henry and Zach McCullough reactivated off IR The Marino return breaks my heart. Was looking forward to seeing him play with a healthy Scott Howes
  20. well put-nice to see a W on the road. Made it a little too close for comfort at the end
  21. full marks to Jason Chimera for longevity. It was 16 or so years ago he played for AHL Hamilton (in the Edmonton affiliation days). Caps assistant coach Todd Rierden was a Bulldog in the Oiler days too.
  22. what's with all the empty seats in Washington? Noticed it too on some NBC covered games. (Have noticed this too previously in Detroit and Texas). I guess a positive tonight is the game is not blacked out in the Toronto area but we have the two lispers doing the announcing and colour
  23. Travis Brown from Brampton to the Rock today & Brampton claimed forward Mike Hammond off wavers from Cincinatti
  24. Bennett looked impressive last night and made and end to end rush that almost won the game. Palazzese had to come up with a big save. Brampton jumped out to an early 3-0 lead. A fan won $1000 as they scored within the first minute. Second goal a short time later forced Wheeling starter Casey Desmith out of the game after he appeared to sprain his ankle. Wheeling came storming back after the half way mark of the game and went ahead 4-3 after some dubious penalty calls by lone referee Ben Moser. With former Beast Mathew Maione in the box and goalie Jordan Ruby pulled. Brampton tied the game with 03 left in the third frame. Brampton almost won in O/T but two players fell leading to a 3 on 1 by Wheeling and game over. Jordan Ruby in goal for Brampton was impressive.. Referee Moser chose to ignore a blatant Wheeling high stick in O/T. Badly need two referees but like in the AHL, perhaps not enough qualified officials.....................
