  1. Brampton just signed goalie #8-see their website for details
  2. David LIng back with Brampton after a year (or more) off
  3. thought John Bartlett has come a long way as a broadcaster (after being the Marlies announcer a short time ago). Would rather listen to him than BoB Cole (whose best before date expired a whlle back-must know where the bodies are buried) or Dave Randorf lisp his way through a game.
  4. Brampton traded Mathew Maione to Wheeling for future considerations. Sounds like he asked to be traded by the press release
  5. Brampton just put goalie Sarjeant on wavers. Must mean Pitton is coming back from injury or making room for Pasquale?
  6. thought Bozon looked ok in the limited time he saw. Saw that about Didier and Thrower. Hope that means some of the walking wounded are ready to return.
  7. after watching Lebevre coach in Hamilton , the previous three or four seasons, I can only figure he knows where the bodies are buried. As a positive, Brampton beat Kalamazoo today 6-3 even with Trevor Cann having a fairly weak game. (6 goals=a free Whopper Jr for all). Scott Howes was incredible and it boggles the mind why he is not an AHL player. Remembrance day ceremonies were held today and a very nice Commerative jersey was auctioned off after the game-Johnny Bower and Grapes both participated in the puck drop along with some vets/ Team store finally has the new jerseys with the CH crests on the shoulders available
  8. good post Don-I suffered thru the gimmick last season as a Hamilton Bulldog STH with that 7 minute hybrid OT. It was 4 minutes of 4 on 4 and then 3 minutes of 3 on 3. It just turned into a break away contest. Might have liked it better had Hamilton won some of them. I just feel the final standings are way too skewed with bonus points. I attended AHL games regularly for 16 years and in the early days, when the team was struggling, a tie was almost a moral victory. And fans of both teams went home happy. Some exciting games were late period comebacks to earn a tie. Don't know if you saw a previous post I made re an ECHL game I attended in Brampton this year where the referee called a penalty with .5 seconds left in the third. Totally absurd that it ends up 4 skaters to 3 in the OT
  9. Brampton just signed NCAA star goalie Jimmy Sarjeant (Merceyhurst-Erie/Northeast PA)
  10. agreed. Wondering about the goalie situation in Brampton
  11. Brampton beat Toledo today 5-2 with Scott Howes getting the "trick". First win of the season
  12. Brampton have signed Michael Vernace, who played 15 games for the Bulldogs 2009-10 and with various AHL (350+ games) and European clubs. Knows the arena, was a Brampton Batallion. 10 NHL games too!
  13. Beast lost a home and home with Wheeling on the weekend. I mentioned to Moderator Brian earlier that I was surprised when Wheeling goalie Frankie Palazzese was not assigned to Brampton. Wheeling also still has two players who saw limited time with the Bulldogs last year-Bakker and Sahir Gill. Personally thought Gill would have been a good signing by Brampton considering the high east Indian population base
  14. they showed 3100 attendance but honestly might have been 2000 bodies (with the baseball on plus perhaps comps not used). Checked out the souvenirs but the jerseys being sold do not have the CH shoulder patches like the game worn version. Atmosphere was good, more so than the Hamilton Bulldog OHL game I attended a week ago. Regardless of what a number of the OHL pundits say, a number of the AHL season ticket holders did not renew their seats and 2100 in an 8900 seat arena looks terrible. Also, Hamilton did not have up to date OHL souvenirs for sale but a bunch of leftover AHL stuff with the hologram authenticity stickers covered up by white labels -re Brampton-anyone thinking of going-eat first-food is limited, slow service but Parking is free! (In Hamilton, many of the parking facilities have gone from $5.00 to $10.00 in two years)
  15. Didier was impressive for Brampton last night in a 5-4 OT loss to Adirondack. Josiah had one beauty goal and assisted on a shorty. Brampton came back from being down 4-2 but tied it up in the third. Their undoing was the lone referee calling a cross checking penalty on one of the the Brampton D men (Blain?) with half a second to go in the third!!!!!! Pasquale was busy-I believe the shots were 32-18 in favour of Adirondack but the shot clock was not working! First three goals on him all appeared to be screened. Trevor Cann was the back up
  16. anyone else tired of the Ottawa bias shown by the CBC? Was little Paul good enough to bring back from exile in Europe and honestly sick of Mike Johnson's lisping through every colour comment. Oh well, could have had never shut up McGuire I guess
  17. there are ten players in the AHL of which Wheeling can use three: I expect Ellis, Shea and Fournier to be the ones chosen (actually they were the only Hamilton ones-the rest were with WB Scranton I believe)
  18. agreed-Sly's coaching style almost single handedly killed hockey interest in Hamilton. And as I inferred previously, I think they had no thoughts of winning last night in front of a big crowd by putting Whitney in goal. The signing of junior/university prospects late over vets who were sent back to Wheeling had me scratching my head too. Good for Wheeling but the white flag had been waved in truth a couple weeks ago.
  19. lol re the uniforms. Yep-the cheap one for the JOB night. Bait and switch as has been the theme this season -Dumont wearing a walking cast -Hudon not dressed-was he injured or being saved for the black aces in Mtl? -glad to see the last of Sly. -it would have been nice to have a win for the thousand of fans who were not regulars, but it was pretty well evident what the plan was when we saw which goalie hit the ice first -Hamilton could have won it in OT but Calvin Pickard made an incredible save. Whitney did come up with a couple good ones too -a few fans booed Andlauer and Steve O when introduced
  20. I see Don echoes my sentiments re all the junior crap. Still can't get PBP to tell us who the officials are and the number of referees either. A friend who is not renewing either told Steve O of the Dogs is what they did was bait and switch by putting out the STH renewals so early. I suspect they might do the same thing at the jersey off our backs game where for the last few years, had the players wear a much cheaper version of the home jersey. A few years ago they pulled out some pink in the rink jerseys and reused them for the JOB game. In fact, the last season the JOB was decent was when we got game worn Calder Cup jerseys-I have Michael Lamberts-has the Calder Cup crest on the hem and a few battle scars. In some ways, I'm just glad to see the last of this bunch (not the players) but the management. It seemed they went so overboard with the "Charity", to gain acceptance in the area, they started turning off some of the regulars. The four alternate jerseys in a five week spell was crazy too. Maybe it has just gotten stale and missing the playoffs so often recently hurts too. ( I ponder too if the extra point for shoot outs and the gimmick 7 minute break away o/t has skewed who makes the playoffs compared to a decade ago)
  21. Wheeling vs Brampton April 12-2015 -this was the rescheduled game from Jan. when Wheeling's bus ran into weather related problems -Wheeling played a nice game and won 4-2 in front of a published crowd of 3,069 but looking around, I honestly doubt half of that number were there. Not sure who they are fooling by faking attendance numbers in Brampton. -four players who also played for the Bulldogs this season participated. Sahir Gill had a good game-two assists and a +2. Shane Bakker had a goal. Dave Makowski was steady on D and also a +2 with one assist. Goalie Frank Palazzese was the back up today after a win in Elmira NY Saturday. -Hab prospect, Dalton Thrower who is on loan to Brampton was not dressed due to injury. Same with former Dog Antoine Corbin who has played for Brampton this season but spent most of his time on the I/R list.
  22. I will give credit though with that interesting Spec article Teri Pecoskie did today re what it's like for a player to wait for the call up from Wheeling. And they really should have set up a separate Facebook group for the OHL team. It's funny though. I feel a lot of the very Pro OHL posters have never been to an AHL game. I often check where they are situated and in many cases it's not Hamilton area. I feel the OHL fans will be shocked by the prices since there is no reduction over what was charged for the AHL (and it's actually more since STH's pay the same for three less games). The $9.75 cans of beer will impress them. I couldn't believe some fans are already complaining re the jerseys the OHL prospects that were selected was too AHL reminiscent for their taste. I have a feeling a number of the PRO OHL fans are actually Toronto Leaf fans who were against anything to do with Montreal in the AHL era (but were likely too lazy to get off their bums and support the Marlies in Toronto)
  23. PBP driving me nuts not giving out officials names and refers to the linesman as a referee on faceoffs during the game. It's Lambert tonight, was Banfield yesterday. Two guys who cannot handle single ref games. -another pet peeve- OHL Bulldogs reporting seems to have taken over the AHL broadcasts at intermission. And showing his neutrality (not), Rick Zamprin, sports director of CHML, yesterday mentions on air that he is a Leaf fan. This is a guy that has been doing the Dogs pregame show. (edited prerecorded conversations dubbed to sound live) -glad it's almost over. JMO - Matt wasn't as grating on the ears as a statistics laden Derek Wills but sometimes I can't believe CHML's line that he was the best of over 50 that auditioned. -
