  1. Love Armstrong;s physicality with his forecheck. He is like a torpedo out there looking for people to launch himself at. And I realize that Moen and Staubitz didn't play at the same time but fact is we had Staubitz and White and Moen on this team last season except there were injuries preventing 2 of them from playing alongside one another. Again I'd say better but not tougher because if we use injuries as an excuse then we have a softer team if Moen or Prust gets injured. With that said I like how our bottom 6 will have 6 guys who can play in the NHL and be physical and take a regular shift. It is going to make a huge different.
  2. To me he's the perfect stop gap as we await our young players to be ready. I'd offer up something like Bourque, Diaz and Kristo so i don;t think he'll ever sign in Canada.
  3. No proposed player movement but with a whole on the LW I would really love to see Bergevin go out and target Brendan Morrow from Dallas. He is going into his last year of hiw contract and the Stars appear to be in a slight rebuild. A $4.1 cap hit is not the end of the world to overcome either. What sort of package would it take?
  4. No.....we need character guys not so called "coach-killers"
  5. Same for me. I thought he was part of the solution but now hes just problematic.
  6. Well Ottawa lost Carkner and Konopka and haven't really replaced them. Buffalo is the team that really beefed up IMO. As for Montreal did we really get tougher? I mean replaced Staubitz with Prust and Armstrong. Lost Gill for Bouillon. Armstrong doesn't fight much and Prust is not a good a fighter as Staubitz. I'd say we got better but not necessarily tougher.
  7. I say no point coming up with lines because nobody knows if Gomez wikll still be part of this team going forward.
  8. Hein que ca? On aurait plus demandez pour Gudbranson et Kulikov non?
  9. CC I think the problem is here is the assumption that he does start the season with the Habs. Therrien as bench boss, his decision to keep Malkin, Crosbym, Staal, some would argue Letang as well, at the NHL instead of spending time in the AHL or back to junior. I think in general people see this and then correlate the same will happen to Galchenyuk. Forgot the fact that Malkin and Crosby are the 2 best centers in the game. Forget the fact that Staal had a bigger body than most NHLers. Most have him pencilled in. If it were up to me even if Galchenyuk was ready he would be sent to the OHL. Let him dominate at that level and then be sent to the WJC where we'll see more of our prospects and then let's see him try to make the team in the 2013-14 season. Let's not turn this kid into the next Guillaume Latendresse.
  10. I hope Pleks stays and that we trade Desharnais. Plekanec is better than him in all facets of the game. Problem is Desharnais' value is not very high
  11. I am quite curious to see the list today of RFA's who were not qualified.
  12. 3rd team in 2 years. Thius guy hasn't lived to expectations, I'd put him in the Blunden boat. I would say no to Fehr personally because we need someone with that size who can forecheck better and willing to stick up for teammates.
  13. And he is not going to be expensive. Threw the name out there but personally if there was one guy I would target with a big offer it would be Seabrook. Chicago does need to make some changes and he's a guy i've wanted on the Habs for a while. I wonder if Chicago would at least listen to an offer of: Nathan Beaulieu, choice of Rene Bourque or Kaberle, Rights to Kristo and a 2nd rounder in 2013? Remove the 2nd and offer Emelin?
  14. If you want a big minutes eater then a guy like Jbo could be had for reltaively cheap. He never lived to the hype but equally is not as bad as people peg him to be
  15. I want a trade I think. Nobody on that list exudes confidence for me. That right side right side right now has Subban and then the possibility of Gorges or Emelin playing the wrong side. Perhaps the answer is to move Gorges back to the right and then secure a left handed player? I just do not like the makeup of a D that has Weber and Diaz as the #2-3 right handed d-men on the team. Hopefully Gorges and Emelin can be comfortable on that right so we can secure a another left D of which the league is full of.
  16. True but typically those players are later picks. In the past 5-6 years how many top 5 picks have jumped right to the NHL. DIdn;t look it up but there are many examples.
  17. I wouldn't. for a #6 guy I want serious toughness.
  18. Want to revisit that #5-6 Dman that we need. I have liked the way O'Brien plays for quite some time but I don;t want to see yet another left handed shot. We need a big mean right handed shot to play alongside Kaberle but who is out there? IMO we have guys like Gorges, Markov, Subban, Emelin who I hope will eat the big minutes assuming all healthy so do we really need a 20 min. per game player? What about a 12 minute per game guy who can clear the net, play physical but not necessarily be relied upon as a roster regular? Just throwing names around that are UFA and right handed Sheldon Brookbank, Again Corey Sarich, Aaron Johnson, Kurtis Foster, Steve Eminger, Matt Carkner, Pavel Kubina, Adrian Aucoin, Michael Rozival, Brett Clarke, Bruno Gervais, Mike Commodore, Sami Salo, Dennis Wideman.... Ummmmmmm....serious slim pickings here. I see this list and I think OK maybe Carkner if we have to? I see only one possibility, we need to make a deal.
  19. He was the great October player I have ever seen. Too bad we could not offer 1/4 season contracts. He was a tremendous golfer as well. Maybe that's why his mid season performance was horrible.....depressed about a lack of golf.
  20. Why? They have a young Brassard, Jenner, Johansen.....center is not where they need help. They need wingers and still some D as they have limited prospects on the horizon.
  21. If the Habs wan to rectify that problem they can do so this year. John Scott is a UFA. The guy can barely skate albeit better than BGL, has no shot, has no hockey sense but he can fight and fight well. And wihout looking I think he's something like 6'7 or 6'8? So if we wanted to waste a roster spot and have a prototypical goon as like the 14th forward then $500-600k gets that done. With that said you know MG is going to hire some grit on that 4th line. Not sure if Staubitz will return but we'll have another guy like that. So if Therrien who is a fiery coach wants to play that game agsint the Bruins instead of just focusing on our own talents then we'll throw out Scott, Staubitz, maybe Moen if he returns and White and we'll have an old fashion scrap. Scott on Chara, Staubitz on Lucic, Moen on Thornton, White on Campbell........but this is not the hockey I want to see.
  22. I think Bourque is going to regain his form and he'll be a 20 goal scorer again. Last season he had Plekanec who was a little less than standard and doing too much and then a rotation of crappy wingers whether it be Moen or Darche or tryign Eller or Leblanc. I think there were even a few games with Blunden up there. We'll have Gionta back this season who should take off some pressure and then we'll surely see a re-surgence of Plekanecs. I might be inclined to say Bourque finishes 4th in goals on the team behind Gio #1, Pacioretty, Cole. On a aisde note Bourque reminds me so much Brian Savage. Can skate well, not overly physical, nice release and streaky. Type of player who doesn;t net a goal every 4 games but rather 3 goals today then goes 2 weeks then maybe pops in 4 then a month off, etc...
  23. Based on the quotes from MB and TT yesterday you'd have to think Grigorenko will not be chosen. I mean they essentially said they look for skill then character with who they chose. Now unless TT has been holding private meeting with Grigorenko and has an understanding of him that others do not then you'd have to think that unless Yakupov falls to #3 then TT will be going with Galchenyuk #1and to be honest I know we have the D but a kid like either Murray or Dumba #3. Just a hunch though, nothi
  24. I ask myself one question. What would Gainey or Gauthier do? Then I think of this, then throw out the word genius
  25. Genius move by Bergevin. Teams may submit an offer sheet so why not eliminate that possibility.
