  1. When Bourque is motivated, he's a dominant player. When he isn't, he's invisible. Think of him like a poor man's Rick Nash.
  2. PATCHES! I thought he scored two due to my feed echo!
  3. The problem is too many focus on enigmatic Russians or Europeans who have burned them in the past . People never think about the countless headcase North American players because they are not so easy to categorize. Both Yakupov and Grigs are playing in North America for the purpose of playing in the NHL. Neither seems to be a headcase player. If Montreal does finish bottom two (which I can't see it happening), we're getting a very good HOCKEY player. Which is all that matters. EDIT: Funny Commandant, you forgot to mention Joe Thornton in your list of chokers
  4. Clearly, the Montreal Canadiens have an awful PR group. Everyone could see horribly botched they handled that announcement. It should have been immediately Gauthier saying, "Randy Cunnyworth will be the new interim coach. Now, Cunnyworth does not speak much French right now but when he got the position as assistant coach he pledged to learn. I ask for your patience." Instead, they simply made the announcement and let the extremists run with it. Only AFTER the fact apologizing for his lack of French and making Cunnyworth come out and say he plans to learn. It was done so terribly. It's why I have no faith in Gauthier and little faith in Molson right now until I see some real organizational change.
  5. My day doesn't officially begin until I have a morning shower. I also shower after a workout.
  6. I think I'm gonna eat popcorn just because it's delicious. As for the game, just make it closer than what the Leafs made it. Good god, watching highlights of that after the Flames/Kings game was painful. I've watched Yakupov in Sarnia. People keep looking at Grig' size. Yakupov is talented enough to not need size. I honestly believe he has Stamkos/Tavares/Duchene level of skill. Montreal likely won't draft him unless they got first overall. If we don't get either Russian I want Gaunce. He'll be NHL ready by 19. Such a smart player.
  7. They don't have to speak French when they are signed, but they need to learn. I've heard that in all of Muller's time in Montreal, he never learned how to speak French. That's unacceptable to me. If Jim Nill came aboard, which I hope he does, I don't expect him to know a single sentence when getting to the team. But after a year as GM, he should be able to say a few sentences.
  8. When it came to the Halak trade, I believe Gauthier had a very specific kind of player he wanted and spoke to maybe a couple teams who had that sort of player he wanted. I don't think he shopped Halak everywhere and even if he had, I don't know if he would have got a better return. He wanted a skilled center prospect with size and he got one. Quite happy with Eller. Velvet hands. When it came to the Cammalleri trade, I think Gauthier wanted to keep it quiet that he was trying to trade him. Tell a limited amount of GMs and go with it. It was probably also done to minimize the media circus that would have come around if Gauthier publicly shopped him. I don't see Montreal getting a better return for Cammalleri for where his game was at. My problem will always be trading him mid-game against the Bruins.
  9. This was a tough trade for me. Commandant can attest that I was absolutely thrilled when Cammalleri became a Hab. I used to always trade for him in NHL06 for the Gamecube because of his speed and skill. He was a guy I used to always throw in as a trade possibility when he was on the Kings and I really wanted him after his season with the Flames. I thought he was going to Toronto for sure so I tried to not sound like a homer and focused on the more believable Havlat. He's probably my favourite Hab since Damphousse and seeing him dealt so early really sucks to me. Cammalleri proved it in the post-season. People harp about Halak but Cammalleri proved it twice. You don't lead the league in the post-season for points twice by accident. You especially don't do it on a team that had a hard time scoring. I would always say at another place that Cammalleri's scoring touch came when people forgot he was on the ice. You'll notice a ton of goals where they were passes to him when the defenders forgot their assignment on him. That opened him up for that one knee one timer. God damn I'll miss that. He was a player who relied on the PP and he was a player who was pretty one dimensional and it stuck out on a team which was supposedly built for every player to be two dimensional. However, I think that's what made Cammalleri such a great part of the team. He was the guy who had energy on that top line. But oh well. When Cammalleri spoke up I thought it was going to light a fire on the team but I soon realized it was more about Cunnyworth vs. Cammalleri. The two didn't see eye to eye and it showed pretty fast. I know Cammy has an ego and was pretty outspoken, but Commandant can also attest, it's easy for me to like a guy like that It was tough to be a Habs fan seeing him traded in the middle of a game against the Bruins. I would have liked to see him at least have the opportunity to tie it up and beat the Bruins one last time if he had to go. Simply put on the return, Bourque to me is just going to replace Kostitsyn as the third line checking forward who can score goals from time to time but is usually frustrating to watch. Same player, different nationality. The real value was the second round pick. Who knows where Calgary will be next season and that's why the pick is good. I see a hole in the top six but I don't mind as now we can try out some youngsters in that role and see who steps up in the upcoming seasons.
  10. I won't lie. I like his aggression and intensity about it. I always assumed he was a little soft.
  11. I hated the Turgeon trade more than the Roy trade. St. Louis must have been shocked when Montreal approached them with, "Yeah, we hear Shayne Corson is available. We'll give you Pierre Turgeon, potential top six center Craig Conroy and a decent defensive prospect in Rory Fitzpatrick for him. And if you could throw in a guy like Murray Baron and maybe a fifth to balance out the incredible value of this, that'd be great kay?" I can see what Houle was trying to get from the Roy trade and his thinking that he was getting a first line winger in Rucinsky, a power forward in Kovalenko and a young number one in Thibault. There's just no excusing trading Turgeon, just coming off a 96 point season with 38 goals for Corson. I don't care how good his 97-98 campaign was. Just no justifying that trade to me.
  12. Gill could net a second from a team that desperately needs veteran support and penalty killing improvement. Sharks, Blackhawks, Red Wings, Senators and Predators fit that bill. Kostitsyn could net a first from a team needing secondary scoring. Los Angeles is the best bet there. Moen could possibly net a first but likely more a second or decent prospect from anyone in the league. Teams love a guy like Moen. Weber has little value himself but a lot more value in a package. Surprised it was Ramo instead of Weber who went with Cammalleri.
  13. I believe he's five for five now for the Sens. No blaming Price on that bullet.
  14. Big stop by Price, Michalek is dangerous.
  15. I want what is best for the team. And what is best for the team is to look to the future. I also still want everyone to play well. If Price is going to let goals in, I want it to be like Spezza's goal. No goalie in this league could have got that.
  16. Zack Smith grabs his razor blade and jigs himself...
  17. Maybe it would be best to showcase Campoli by not playing him...
  18. I like Milbury admitting he handled speaking to every GM in the league wrong. He went up to every one and said, "I plan to trade Palffy. Give me at least ____." What you do is e-mail every GM in the league and when one says, "I'd give you _____" you say, "Sorry, I got a better offer from x with _____." That creates a bidding war. Not asking every GM your ridiculous standards for the player.
  19. Gomez tries to force ass to mouth on Anderson. Ineffective.
