  1. Someone has been drinking too much expired Flower Power!
  2. This game showed the Islanders as the pretenders that they really are. They were no match for us. Huet was rarely tested despite the number of shots on goal.
  3. Can't win 'em all. Sens are the best, we're not. But as long as we keep beating the good teams and the bad teams we'll stay in the top eight. Anything can happen in the playoffs so let's stop focusing on one game. Sens make everyone look bad on most nights, but hey, even they lose to the Leafs now and then.
  4. It'll be a tough one. If Emery is starting, he's got something to prove. Gerber stole his job and he wants it back.
  5. Did Latendresse drop his gloves against Chara? I know Chara did. I only saw Latendresse trying to cover up with his gloves still on. I'm not sure how much 'guts' that takes.
  6. I've been hearing stories about a lot of players wanting to go off on Latendresse for his chirping and unwillingness to drop his gloves. I think Chara pounding on him is the tip of the iceberg.
  7. Good luck, Garth. We've got lots of talent in the pipeline. Now, if an injury hits, we've got some more new blood to look forward to.
  8. We don't need a tough guy. We're a fast, skilled team... big numb-skulls with minimal skill-sets are for the old-NHL.
  9. I knew Saku would shut those fools up... and man, even though he didn't score, Kostitsyn was a terror on the ice. I wish Carbonneau would give him 15 minutes each and every night to show what he can do.
  10. Koivu will shut the pro-french language media up with a big game tonight. Who cares if he can or cannot speak french... does that mean Stephane Dion has a shot at the Habs captaincy?
  11. In the grand scheme, it's just exhibition. Keep injuries to a minimum and gradually get the regulars in game shape.
  12. A. Kostitsyn might not be with Plekanec and Higgins if he plays this well with Kovalev. Maybe Alexei wants him for his line. Good audition.
  13. I'll be surprised if Kostitsyn (injury-free) doesn't get at least 45 points.
  14. This Briere article is total horseshit. I can't believe that the french media still has credibility in regards to the Montreal Canadiens. It's like the South Park episode where the kids run a newstation and just make up news to cause a commotion.
  15. I wasn't sure of the issue to begin with... he said he thinks they're a playoff team but most wouldn't view them as a Cup favourite. That's true. He never said they wouldn't compete for a Cup... he said they wouldn't be a favourite. Obviously that's the case if THN has them to finish 13th in the conference.
  16. Meh, he's one of those players that I'm not too involved with emotionally... we have other players that would get 30 goals with a full season on Koivu's wing. Ryder is a lucky boy to have had the opportunity. Look what happened to Brian Savage once he moved to a new team and ended up on the third line...
  17. If it's true, I'll be using the F-word a lot more than I have in the past few seasons while watching games.
  18. I liked Aebischer although he was on and off during his time here. The brightest spot may have been receiving his contract in exchange for Theodore's bloated contract. So, in that sense, he helped us immensely!
  19. Michael Ryder AKA Brian Savage... why do we always have one of these guys... lets sign him to a one-year deal and trade him during a hot streak. We have many solid players waiting in the wings... cheaper players.
  20. Injuries, trades, benchings, slumps, the flu, etc... those facts of life ensure auditions for some youngsters at various points in the season. I am looking forward to seeing Corey Locke when he gets his eventual call-up. Andrei Kostitsyn was my boy last year... he's gonna have some fun this year with a full-time job.
  21. Montreal had 48 wins that season! The only team in the entire NHL with more wins was Pittsburgh. We were a strong contender from the start and we were a deep team with a good mix of youth and experience. It's not our fault we took out the 4th overall seed in the first round. If we took out the Nordiques in the 3rd round instead of the 1st, then people wouldn't be making such a fuss.
  22. Why is there love for Scott Hannan in here? His stats are common. He has no tough streak. His +/- was very average on a very good team. Just because he played for Team Canada doesn't make him a star. Rob Zamuner anyone? That's a lot of money for just another cog.
  23. Yes, enough about RFAs... how many offer sheets have been offered in the past 5 years... GMs have an unspoken rule, it's rare that it's broken.
  24. Hamrlik wants to play here... Smolinski wants a no-trade clause so he can play a full season here. They sound like the kind of players I want on my team. I don't want a headcase that we have to pay extra for. We got a quality centre and a #2 or #3 defenseman... sounds good to me.
  25. Good signings... an experienced and balanced third line centre with some offense who can step onto the PP or move up to 2nd line if there's an injury. And Roman Hamrlik, a former top choice, who used to have offense in spades and now knows how to play the other end. Don't forget how many points and powerplay minutes a guy like Phanuef would have taken from him. Plus Hamrlik has a bit of a mean streak too.
