  1. Yeah, that was ugly last night in Boston, but with a young team, it is expected. I don't think anyone really thought the Habs would be making the playoffs this year. As long as there is some kind of progression (compared to last year) I think everything will be fine!

  2. Now that the shock factor is no longer an issue, I don't have a problem with this pick. I just hope that MIchkov or Leonard won't become superstars in the league.

I think Reinbacher will be a good second pairing D-man who can play big minutes. Who knows, maybe he and Hutson will be our #1 and #2 for many years to come on the first pairing!

As with every draft, time will tell!

  3. As much as I loved Price, I don't think his number should be retired. In my book; No cup, no jersey retirement! Unless you dominate your position sooooo much that you just can't get around it. (ie: à la Hasek who 6 vezina trophies)  Carey only won 1 Vezina trophy.   I agree that the year he did win it (2014-15) he was VERY dominant, but there were too many years during his career where Carey wasn't dominant. He was surfing on his reputation.

Again, I know that for me to say that he hasn't won a cup would automatically eliminate him... and that isn't fair. I am also aware that during his 15 years in Montreal, he only ever had one single player who managed to score more that 1 point per game. (Kovalev 2008) But at some point, I think we need to draw the line somewhere. If we start retiring the numbers of guys who haven't won the cup(Koivu, Markov, Pacioretty), sooner rather than later, there won't be any numbers left for the current guys to use! ;)

     Agree on both points.

On (1), the Habs are weird…they have this long history of finding goaltending when they need it. Sometimes that takes the form of a Steve Penney or Jaro Halak, a guy nobody sees coming who has a magical run. Sometimes it’s a Denis Herron or Jose Theodore who has 3-4 stellar years. And sometimes it takes the form of a generational goalie like Plante, Dryden, Roy, or Price. But we always seem to find le gardien somehow. That said, Price will be very hard to replace.

Let's not forget that Primeau progressed nicely in Laval last year. One more year(or maybe a half season) in Laval and he might be ready for the big show!

It seems that these new rumours are being fanned by PLD’s agent.  For Winnipeg this is bad, PLD wants out and everyone has seen what he plays like when he wants out.  It will lower his value, especially as I believe he only has 2 more RFA years, I could be wrong about this.

Youbare correct. 2 yrs left on rfa!

  6. What d'yall think about the persistent rumours that P.L. Dubois is gonna be a Hab soon? I know that there have been Dubois to MTL rumours forever, and I normally don't pay attention to them, but for some reason, these latest rumours are making me think that this might happen. What I read was that the Habs offered Dvorak, 2023 1st round pick(the one we got from Florida) and another young prospect (ie. Norlinder) Apparently that wasn't enough for Winnipeg.

Right. Dach is now the young C with size. He is our answer to Shane Wright.

Looking at this stats, I find it unsettling that his development arc has a decided shade of "Kotkaniemi" about it.

    Damn, you're scaring me!!!

  8. Eesh! Not sure what to think of this trade. My first reaction is to be a little pissed. I liked Romy. I guess we'll have to be patient and see what Dach does over the next couple of years! Just looking at his stats, will not convince anyone that this is a good trade. but stats don't tell the whole story!

  9. I don't know how serious this could be, seeing as I read it on Puckers.com.  Apparently Hughes had a conversation with the Rangers for Lafrenière. In return the Rangers would get Chiarot and Lehkonen. Is it just me or has Lafrenière's stock dropped alot?  I don't see how the Rangers could go for that!?!?!

Just a random observation that this is how life without Price feels to those who have always wanted to trade him. Because the 1 or 2 elite players or prospects we would have (perhaps) received in return aint stopping the puck.

I don't think Carey Price would've made much of a difference this year...maybe one or two losses less. Not enough to make a difference!
