Wow, that would be quite funny if Todd's act actually was inspired by the movie. Jesus what's next? Parading in his jock strap?
-
True, Theodore is still young and has alot of good years ahead him. Garon probably would have been set back more if Danis made his way in the picture.
-
Yup, Maca is right. Montreal has some great prospects and they need to get some NHL experience. They can't always stay in the farm.

Hey people, I was just wondering what's your take on Cristobal Huet? We all know where he played last season obviously. What do you guys think about him filling for arbitration? I'm not to keen on that. His salary was 425 000$ US last season. He did play 41 games for the Kings but then again he probably won't even play 20 if he's backing up Theodore. Anyway I was just wondering what's your take on this guy and on him filling for arbitration. (On a side note, you don't see many goalies from France in the league.)
-
My guess for all these guys is that they all want raises. Hopefully they all get multi-year deals too. My guess for Zednik is he probably wants something like 3 mil. US (hence why he filed for arbitration). But something in the range of 2.5-2.75 mil. and a scoring bonus is what they'll sign him for is my guess. As far as Ryder goes, my guess is 800 000$ US with a scoring bonus obviously. I wouldn't blame him if he wants something like a million. He's sure as hell worth the million if he can show numbers like last season. Finally, my guess on Souray is 2 mil. US. I hope he can make some noise and score like last season, well during the first half that is.

Radek is taking a small pay cut. If I remember right his qualifying offer was something around 3.6 mil US. Either way, if he's Perreault's replacement, he's worth the extra 400 000$ (well if you round if off). Bonk is taller, a tad faster and checks way better than Yanic (and probably more intimidating and in your face). Hopefully, he won't live up to the lazy and heartless reputation Sens fan gave him. This is a new beginning for him in a new town and you never know. Unlike Ottawa, the media and fan pressure is alot larger in Montreal. If Radek doesn't live up to his side of the bargain, they'll [the media and the fans] will be all over him like white on rice. Anyway, whatever happens I hope he doesn't flop. It would be so sweet if he develops a great chemistry with his linemates and proves angry Sens fan wrong. You know Gainey will look like a bigger genius if that occured.

Wow that sucks, their future No.1 goalie is playing hard to get. Just wondering since he's a group II agent, what will happen if he doesn't accept any team offers? As for Allen and Chubarov, couldn't really care
-
He couldnt sign with another team, he was an RFA not a UFA. Why would Gainey trade a highly regarded goalie like Garon for a UFA? my mistake got confused with something else :/
-
good to see they locked up bonk, would have been quite humiliating if this back fired in gainey's face meaning radek would sign with another team

in 1994 Theo was drafted in the 2nd round. Garon was drafted in the 2nd round in 1996, In 1984, Roy was drafted in 3rd round. I got this info all of the habs site in the draft history section. The only problem is they don't mention players' position.

If I remember right Flutie was the starter for the Bills at one points.
-
On a side note, Doug Flutie used to be in the CFL and made it into the NFL. I don't know if he still plays though.
-
From what I remember reading even though Zednik filed for arbitration, He and his agent are still negotiating with Gainey. They said a potential deal might be reached before even having to go seek an arbitrator.

The only goalie that was average at best that helped his team to a cup was Osgood when he was in Detroit. Even in this case, Detroit had an awesome defensive squad helping out Chris. This ain't the case with Vancouver. I think we're all right (everyone who posted in this thread) that he should get the boot. He so lucky he didn't go under arbitration because Dan and his agent knew he was going in a lose-lose situation. There would be no way he could win his arbitration case and if he did he was surely going to get the boot from the team.
-
Begin has heart and that's a good quality in a captain but I don't know if he has leadership, we know he can motivate the team easily with a few big hits.

Simonus is right. But even if there wasn't the doctors near the area, I'm sure the team has the money to offord the best medication available on the market for Andrei. You don't draft player's like Andrei Kostsitsyn's caliber every day, well unless your team is dead last every year, but either way this shouldn't stop him from excelling in his game (see Derek Morris for an example). edit: typo :/ [Edited on 2004/7/29 by Tony]

and to stay on topic i think they gave bonk a qualifying offer, up to him to take it but he's expressed interest in staying in the team, maybe their working out some bonus or minor details

check on this site, its always updated ---> http://nhl.com/lineups/player/freelist04.html edit: posted wrong link [Edited on 2004/7/29 by Tony]

heh, the way they posted the article on tsn they made it sound so serious while in the lapresse article its detailed and explained that all he has to do is takin his medication and he'll be alright and be able to play hockey
-
Nice read. Made me anxious for the season coming up but then again then there's the CBA...
-
I consider Cloutier average at best. Optimist Canucks fans say he was the best thing available right now in the market while I believe Weekes or Hedberg could do a better job than him. Either way I'm sure this is Cloutier's last chance to bring a Cup to Vancouver or else he's hopefully getting the boot for next season when Auld should take over between the pipes. He probably could do it this season but my guess as a back up to Dan. He played great in the playoffs for a 3rd string if you ask me. edit: forgot to add "between" for when I typed "between the pipes". [Edited on 2004/7/28 by Tony]

If he takes his medication (the right one prescribed by the north american doctors) I don't see why he shouldn't be in a habs uniform or playing in north america
-
:/) exactly my thought on the other hand, if kovalev doesn't sign with the habs selanne would be a good fit (but i'd prefer kariya because he was my favorite player as a kid) if he plays for cheap either way it's an improvement for the team (on paper it is)
