I’d do this trade in a heartbeat but it would never happen. Anaheim would be sending two 1st line forwards who both have good size and are young for a 2nd line center, 2nd/3rd line free agent (lower value to non playoff team), a top 2-4 defenseman depending on when and if he matures, and most likely a bottom pairing offensive defenseman. Doesn’t sound very fair to me especially with Anaheim tossing in a 3rd round pick. I don’t expect both players to be traded but if they were both to be involved in the same trade together you can guarantee Anaheim is getting at least one 1st round pick among other things. Keep in mind Jeff Carter went for a 1st, 3rd, and a player who was drafted in the 1st. Kostitsyn basically has little trade value to Anaheim since he would probably walk away from them via free agency. He is more valuable to teams that have a chance at making a cup run and need to add some secondary scoring.

Keep Dreaming Mike Milbury doesn't run the Islanders anymore. You are basically giving up 2 players that can barely crack our lineup and a UFA who averages 40 points a season for two top 6 fowards one of which should probably be an all-star. For now I would just focus on trying to get whatever picks we can get for our impending free agents. This would include Kostitsyn and Moen unless we are able to resign them for a reasonable price.

If I am trading Subban then it needs to be in a blockbuster type of deal where we get back a guy that is either currently an impact player or cleary is going to become an impact player and we need to have control of that player for at least 3 years with the hope of many more. That being said I don't really see any possible deals right now. If he is shopping him around it's probably just to gauge how much value Subban has to see if he can add a valuable piece to the team either now or at draft day or if it is just worth more to hold onto him.

There were 7 teams in his NTC but you also have to factor in teams that Montreal was unwilling to deal with. Like I highly doubt Boston or Toronto was on his NTC but I highly doubt Montreal would be willing to trade a player of Cammalleri's calibre to either of those teams as well as a few others. So I don't buy into this whole complaint about GMs saying I didn't know he was available and thus PG only talked to Calgary.

If Plekanec or Subban are traded I hope it's not by Gauthier as I just can't trust him getting fair value for either of them.

Terrible trade I am sure other teams would have been willing to give up more for him given his track record the last 2 years in the playoffs. Not getting a 1st round pick or a legit prospect for him is a failure imo.

How come everytime the opposing team clears the puck when we are on a powerplay Subban stops skating? Honestly I think Subban is just a dumb player that is too full of himself. Getting tired of seeing all this lazy play, constant diving, terrible penalties every other game, just really boneheaded plays game in and game out especially with these icings. I think he's overrated not just by the habs but by other teams and I would take advantage of that and trade him for someone that can make an impact for at least 3 years.

Thanksgiving came early in Carolina. Nice comeback win. Also PK Subban needs to learn to play to the whistle and stop expecting penalties.

Habs look like they don't want to play tonight. No one is skating at all and the passing is pathetic.

I wouldn't say the 2 points were automatic but they were playing the worst team in the Eastern Conference and knocked out their starting goalie in the 1st period and put in a player that is more hated by islander fans then gomez is by habs fans.

Did anyone else read Martin's lips when Subban iced the puck. Looked like he said "Every F'ing Time". I'd probably agree with that Subban and Gorges seem to constantly ice the puck.

Anyone else see Budaj waving his stick in the air for 15 seconds trying to get Martin's attention? Florida announcers pretty much said it looked like Martin lost track of the time in the game.

I expect Martin to be fired on Sunday unless they win all 3 games in a row. Habs have 5 days off after Saturdays game so it would be the ideal time to bring in a new Coach.

I think the positives of this trade are as follows: - Palushaj and Engqvist can go back to the minors and play more then 3-7 minutes per game which they are more accustomed to. - Blunden comes up who is more used to playing a 4th line role - Our top sniper Travis Moen doesn't have to fight as much now since we have another guy in the lineup that can drop the gloves.

I wonder how long before Erik Cole asks for a trade back to Carolina.

The only positive is if the season ended today we'd have a pretty good shot at 1st overall pick.

It's nice to see our big free agent signing in the offseason getting a nice 13:47 worth of ice time. Probably would've been better off using the money we spent on Cole and Campoli to just keep Wisniewski and Halpern.

I hate how in preseason he had this love affair with Gallagher and kept putting him on our top 2 lines while Cole never got a chance to develop any sort of chemistry and now it is showing.

Who are we taking with 2nd pick at the draft this upcoming year?
