  1. Are we so bad, that we have to desperately look for improvements? And I would be very cautious with dealing Ryder - he's had (so far) ONE totally unacceptable season. Yes, his play is a disaster right now, but look at this: Take a player well after 30, who has a reputation o a slacker. Horrible season, injuries, no production. He has conflicts with everybody, coach and press included. Man, this one has a sign saying "TRADE ME" all over him. We perhaps would have, but his contract was too high. And we would give someone Alexei Kovalev. Congrats. And you know what - this would make a lot more sense than dealing Ryder. You have to be very careful before you say that someone is over and done.
  2. I'm not saying he should be retired You're right when we're talking about stats and sports accomplishments. But in my opinion, Naslund... oops, Koivu ( ) will be remembered for two things: - battle with cancer - longevity as the Habs captain The fact that this question is being posed (not only here, I've talked about it not long ago with my buddies) and about 30% voted YES gives a good reason to think, why they did. The other thing is - we retire too many numbers. I hope that after 2009 I won't see a retirement night in Bell centre for a long time. BTW - when I heard that only Beliveau lasted longer as our captain, my jaw hit the floor. Honestly, it doesn't seem like that long, does it?
  3. Well, that's an interesting question - and results are no less interesting. Should Canadiens retire Koivu's number? There are good arguments for every one option - perhaps that's why every answer got about 1/3 of votes. You could easily say, that Koivu was (is) the captain during the darkest ages of the franchise. His Canadiens never made it past second round and when they did - they were humiliated (2:8 with Carolina in the last game of the 2002 series, swept by Tampa Bay in 2004). What's more (and perhaps most important) - his leadership is still questioned. Well, that would say NO to any retirement plans. And, oh by the way - few more years and the Canadiens will have to wear triple digit numbers, cause we're currently running out of not-retired jerseys. On the other hand, only Jean Beliveau was a longer-serving captain of bleu-blanc-rouge. Koivu is the first European captain of the Habs and, boy, does he have a passion for the game. He beat cancer in 2002, almost every season he's played in was plagued by injuries (only four times in his NHL career he played more than 70 games). In 2006 he had that eye injury. What's more - like it or not - for all the league he's been the "heart and soul" of the Montreal Canadiens. Yeah, if he wins the cup, he will be one of the Greats - but isn't he already? (note - Carbonneau DID win the Cup as a captain - and he's not retired). Tough decision, but a very interesting topic.
  4. Me too. I still can't believe. It will be the dream of my life come true
  5. I'm in Montreal from 24.09 to 14.10... Already have tickets for one preseason game - however going from Poland to MTL and not seeing the Habs in REAL action would be a heartbreaker :] Tomorrow is The Big Day....
  6. So ya Thought ya Might like to Score a few goals? To feel the warm thrill of confusion That space cadet glow Tell me is something eluding you sunshine? Is this not what you expected to see? If you wanna put pucks right behind the goal line You first have to deal with CH 39
  7. www.streamtv.now.tv I know NOT it's bit too late, but we in Poland got to know with it not long ago. I'm sure I'm going to buy it for next season. The price is silly
  8. In Poland, you can't go to a soccer match without risk of being assaulted. Two weeks ago a guy was killed in a fight between quasi-fans after a soccer game. It doesn't happen on hockey simply because there aren't many people on hockey games. But when the game is important and people come - you HAVE to be cautious. Cuz you can be hit just because you're wearing the wrong scarf or "looking like a GKS/Tychy/Sosnowiec fan". I have always respected Canadian fans for not acting like that. I've always admired captions of Canucks and Flames fans sitting together and drinking beer. It's nice to say: "Damn, I'm just living in a f-d up country - it's not like that all around the world". Burning some other team's jersey is a step in wrong direction. In my opinion, good support is always GO HABS GO, not LEAFS SUCK. But it's probably my out-of-date thinking.
  9. Pleeeaaaassseeee win this one! BTW - how long has it been since my last reply here?
  10. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Listening only to 3rd period - I must be dreaming!!!!!!!!! GO HABS GO!!
  11. These are jokes like that, which make Theo a goalie with no confidence. He need our support, not our laugh.
  12. WOW That's a nice score! Unfortunately Internet here died right for the third period. I think I missed something Two most doubted Montreal defensemen get the goals... Nice. But I still think we should have traded Souray when he was an All-Star
  13. Are there some point for times playing powerplay? Is this some new rule that we don't know?
  14. I saw an ebay auction "Buy slightly washed-up goalie Jose Theodore". Had some laugh, but I'd love to see him silence his critics. Damn, I've been waiting for his autograph for years, when I get it - he plays just to be sent to AHL :]
  15. I hate to say it, but I can't see a single chance for winning this one.
  16. Cristobal... Thank you... Irritating - he keeps playing great games and this team can't win for him.
  17. Feel like in Poland It's 18:17 here - I like such hours
  18. Ok. Exam session is over, welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen! GO HABS GO!!
