There's no solutions on defense because we have nobody who's a reliable physical presence or a reliable puck-mover. Better luck next year. The only solution is to try to mix up the forwards to get some spark and offense. I said a 1000 times that Sergei K and Laps were made to play together, going back to Hamilton. Guess JM's thinking is too rigid to try those kind of things... Putting Plex with them and moving both Pou and Akost to another line would spread some scoring. And the 4th line of 32-42-52 should plug holes in the lines rotation.

That's the one thing that makes me sort of hopeless with this team. 1 goal allowed is enough to stun them? P-a-t-h-e-t-i-c. That team has no confidence in itself and they dont have the coach that can motivate them. Scoring first and then holding on the lead might be an ideal, but no worthy competing team should be so desperately relying on that monolithic, one-track-mind archaic game plan. A team has to be consistently able to answer a goal with a goal, and be confident about it's abilities to strike back. None of this "Oh no! We're losing 1-0!" BS...

There's so many fundamental flaws with this team -- from the roster make up to the coaching strategies passing by the team culture -- to start picking on this one or that one. I'm a never-say-die type of fan and I'll get worked up and angry up to the very last second... but I've seen enough in 3 playoffs game to know they're the exact same team we've seen all throughout the regular season. My only last hope is for Price to pull some kind of Cam Ward circa 2006 and beat the Caps on his own. That's really the very last rabbit the Habs can pull out of their hat. Rely on their goalie to bail them out. For the rest, this is as good as it'll ever get.

F*ck this game pisses me off. We should be all over them putting our sticks in their faces and laughing off the penalties just for the sake of protecting our honor.

I wonder how the Habs will come out in the 3rd. Either flat as Hell and just wishing for the 20 mins to be done and over with; or foaming at the mouth and completely berserk. I wish it was the latter... 4th after Quinn, Lemaire and Wilson.

I'm not a fan of Martin, but at a certain point you have to also realize the limits of the horses he has to run with. The Habs were small before and got even smaller this year. When only Pouliot can hit with authority, you know your roster is grossly lacking size and grit. Habs can't play all types of games. When it comes down to a trenches war, we're done.

Would be a good time to sacrifice a fringe player by asking him to go do a hack job on Backstrom. Yeah, 70's hockey tactics rules.

Oh, and I hope Gauthier fixes the size/aggression issue this summer. Wasnt Moen supposed to be some hard-nosed playoffs warrior? He's invisible and barely touched anyone so far in 3 games. Moore is nice, but another small guy who can't push anyone around. Oh, and Hamrlik is spent. They squeezed whatever juice was left in his old legs by playing him 20+ mins earlier this season when Markov went down.

I can take a more talented team beating us to the punch. I can't take the refs having a 2nd epic fail in a row. Just disgusting.

Caps will have all the emotion behind them to start the OT because they feel like they won the game by coming from behind. So the Habs needs to remain calm and wait. After some time the adrenaline will wear off the kids and the pressure will take over.

Still. They could have wrapped it up when it was 4-1 or 5-4. I kept saying: no killer instinct on this team, can't smother the opposition and run the clock when they lead. They need to be tied to play well.

I'm tagging along Wamsley in favor of caution. It's always easier for the lower seed to upset the top seed on their home ice in Game 1. The real test will be Game 2. Then Game 3, then Game 4... It's the playoffs, the real test is always the next game. Ovi loves Montreal and the emotion at the Bell Centre, so you have to expect that he might be extra-motivated in Game 3 and 4. Gotta take the opportunity to hammer the Caps with another body blow in Game 2 before then.
