  1. Players and Goalies stats alike don't count in the shootout. The only stat that is of concern in the shootout is in the W-L category. I'd hate to be the guy who gets on goal this season and it's in a shootout, you still don't get credit for your goal. Although if you can't score, I doubt the coach would make you a shooter anyway.
  2. Keane + Roy for Thibault + Rucinsky + Kovalenko Kovalenko was some sort of Berezin/Zednik type of player. One-dimensionnal & streaky. Rucinsky was up-and-down, always leaving you wanting. I think he lead the Habs in points one season. Thibault got annoying real fast. Kinda had that negative, hypocrite, "it's not my fault" attitude. I think I remember he lost the starting job to a very young Theodore in a playoffs series against NJ, and in his first NHL game Theo beat Brodeur in some long ass OT game... I knew then Thibault wasnt the future of the Habs. [Edited on 7-10-2005 by ap79] Yeesh, doesn't sound like the best trade for you guys. I always thought Thibault did decent for you guys but I was also 10, couldn't judge a player as well back then. Yeah, as soon as Forsberg left, people were starting to write us off. Foote is obviously the bigger loss but I was also unsure how he'd adapt to the harsher penalty calls. I meant to check the Blue Jackets game to see how he did. He was really, really grabby, especially in front of the net. Lots of hands to the back of the head, he was great at clearing space for Roy and Aebi. Our defense is solid but Brisebois and Vaananen seem to be having trouble with penalties, they're still thinking its the old NHL. I was glad Wolski had a good pre-season, there was a lot of talk about him making the team early since he wasn't expected until next year. And I'm glad he beat up that douche who went after his girlfriend, it allowed him to drop to us in the draft. He was floating around a bit against the Oilers, wasn't jumping into the play quickly but I think it was just nerves. We've still got a strong team that can contend for the division (although I don't have my hopes up). My favorite signing was Brunette, I loved him in Minnesota (until he scored the last goal ever on Patty). I also liked the Leschyshyn signing but he retired a couple days ago. Sakic looked, oh man, he looked good. I think he could contend for the Art Ross and if we manage to win the division, he'll be a Hart canidate. For some stupid reason, I don't own a Sakic jersey:o Player of the night though was Aebischer, it's apparent that Roy is a great teacher and I'm glad he became a coach. You'll see some good goalies come out of Quebec now that hes there. What this team comes down to is coaching and thats the reason we lost to Edmonton. Quenneville was implementing a Dump and Chase method and thats why Edmonton kicked our ass in the shots count. It was 31-16 I think. So to sum this big long post no one will read up, I think the Avs still got a great team. Foote and Forsberg were big losses but we went through the entire 01-02 season without him and won our division and I don't think Foote would've been good for the new rules anyway (not that I wanted to see him go, Footer was amazing). I could still go on about them but this is a Habs site so I'll just stop now
  3. Ah, alright then. I thought it was league-wide for RBK but now that I think about it, thats pretty stupid. I guess Aebi just has a deal with RBK.
  4. You bet your ass it is. I don't really remember it now though, I used to recite it on command. It was Roy and Keane for Kovalenko, Thibault and something else. Speaking of which, how did Kovalenko do for you guys?
  5. Through and through. Been a fan since December 6th, 1995.
  6. Indeed you do play us this year. Well, not this year but this season. Wednesday January 11th, 2006 you guys make the trip to the Pepsi Center. I can't wait, I can actually post in a game thread
  7. Alright, so we're settled then. We just need confirmation from Sir Arsehole himself. *waits for the Avs to get trashed*
  8. He might have a problem with the snobby, rich people anyway. He's gotta be alright with Lacrosse unless he hates Natives for some reason.
  9. You realize your team is 2-0, right? Why the hell bother worrying about other teams as long as you win. Seriously, don't even wish him on the laffs. Hockey doesn't need people like him, we can do without. Go watch basketball or something.
  10. Doesn't Reebok supply every NHL team with equipment? I know the Avs all use Reebok equipment.
  11. What if Allison and Lindros went down in their next game? That'd be awesome...
  12. Nah, I saw the Avs game on TSN since the Flames and Oilers games were both Alberta-only. I guess I lucked out there, lol. With the officiating, it seems that if you even think of taking your hand off your stick to defend, you get a penalty. My only real beef was with oen call last night. Laaksonen skated in front of a guy, barely brushed him, to give Sakic some room to move. Got called for interference. I thought that was a little uptight but the rest were reasonable. (And Edmonton also got the winner off that penalty. It wasn't a PP goal but they scored about 2 seconds after it ended) And yeah Maca, Brisebois looked really good last night, lol. The only guy who was working his ass off more was Blake. Brisebois took two bad penalties but it didn't matter since our PK looked awesome. He's definitely no Foote but if he plays like he did last night, he'll quickly grow on me. I'm gathering one thing from the new NHL. The Dump and Chase has been thoroughly eliminated which is great. We were trying it and we got spanked so that should be fixed by Q. As for the Calder race, I'm not sure if hes still a rookie but Fristche got both of the Blue Jacket's goals last night.
  13. Just a thread to talk about the other games in the NHL considering all 30 teams are in action. You can definitely tell the new rules are having an effect considering the scores across the league. Lots of 4's and 5's on the scoreboard. Games of note to me are the Rangers beating the Flyers 5-3, Wild beating the Flames 6-3 and the Devils demolishing the Penguins 5-1:o And of course the Avs/Oilers game. 2nd intermission right now, 3-2 Oilers. The game has become "How many amazing saves can Aebischer make?". It was 2-2 for the longest time until Brisebois took a questionable interference penalty. His other interference penalty was questionable too but he's looked good so far, really throwing his weight around and landing some good hits. Not a whole lot of offense though. And the delay of game for shooting the puck over the glass penalty is stupid. Overall, I'm just happy the hockey is back and I'm looking forward to a great season.

Same here, I think yesterday was just a typical Clement game. He has something stupid like a 7.36 ERA in his last 3 starts.

Well then, that was a disaster but it's a brand new day with a brand new game. The Fat Drunk goes tonight and if he pitches anything like he did on Friday against the Yanks, we'll be just fine. And Peavy's out for the rest of the postseason, the Padres haven't got a chance in hell of winning the WS. It'd have to be the biggest cinderella run ever for them to win. Kinda like Greece winning Euro 04.
  16. Just noticed that I'd eclipsed the 500 post mark, I think I did it on Sunday >_> And if I do believe, I think I'm the first non-Habs fan to get up there. Wooooo! Not that I have anything against the Habs, they're in my top 5 teams :/)
  17. Yeah, I remember them talking about it too. I think what was supposed to happen is they choose a "Game of the Night" and thats what they'd air. However, I think you have to pay for it.

I spoke too soon. 5-0 White Sox. I hate Clement.
  19. That was basically my point. With all due respect, how? You said it was sad to see him get passed over and I said he doesn't even deserve consideration. I must be missing something

I hope Clement can get out of this. The guy has made me freakin nervous all year.
  21. Jagr's too much like Randy Moss. They play when they feel like it. He's good but a captain should be hard-working and show a consisten effort. Kasparitis is a better choice then Jagr, I wouldn't even give him the A.
