  1. Here's some more good news about Sergei: OHL Rookie of the Month – Sergei Kostitsyn, London Knights Sergei Kostitsyn was named the OHL Rookie of the Month after scoring nine goals and 12 assists to lead all OHL rookies with 21 points in 11 games. Kostitsyn had two multi-goal games and seven multi-point games over the month. Kostitsyn began his OHL career with a dominating effort when he picked up a goal and five assists in the season opener. Kostitsyn currently leads all rookie scorers and is tied for sixth in league scoring with 30 points.
  2. Well Hasek is sitting on the bench smiling and joking with his teammates so if he is injured it can't be too serious. 3-0 for Ottawa now and Buffalo just failed on a 2 minute 5-3 powerplay.
  3. We'll I agree that we could easily go on a losing streak and drop down to 8th or so. Or our rookies might not be able to keep up the good play for a whole NHL season. But ... our season is 15% over and we are in first (although Ottawa and Carolina have some games in hand). So far we have had one of the toughest schedules in the league, mainly because we are in the NorthEast division. There is nothing wrong with 1 goal wins. Indeed if we want playoff success we need to be able to play well in close games. Because of the seeding system and the fact that Ottawa is better than us we really can't finish higher than the 4th seed (unless Hasek gets injured). But I do think we could finish with the 2nd or 3rd most points in the East. I agree with ndmartinxyz that we have only been playing well in 2 out 3 periods in pretty much every game. I expect Julien will fix this and I hope Theodore will get back to his usual form. If so we will be a lot better and the games will not be so close. I don't think most people appreciate how effective it is to have 4 quality lines. All 4 of our lines are legimate scoring threats and this makes it very tough to defend against us for 60 minutes. Also our speed is especially effective in overtime and so we have an excellent chance in any game which is tied after 60 minutes. In summary, although we could fade for any number of reasons, I don't see any reason to think that we can't continue to stay in the top 3 in the East.
  4. I thought that was Betman's plan to increase scoring - make all the goals huge.
  5. Another 2 bad clearing attempts. This time it results in a Florida penalty.
  6. 3 bad clearing attempts lead to an open chance foiled by Theodore.
  7. Keep your farming terms to yourself! This forum is about hockey! Does huzer's post have anything to do with this complaint from Makh2o?
  8. He was playing on the first line for the first 6 or 7 games. He was getting tons of ice time and playing with Bolland. Since Shremp and Dylan Hunter were returned he seems to be getting much less ice time. That's too bad but I guess a coach has to go with his 'best' players and maybe those guys, at the moment, are better players. There could also be the PR aspect of the team's presence in the community. Maybe to replace these guys with a rookie might not fly well with the fans. Maybe also to replace those guys with a rookie might not fly well with the players themselves, resulting in sour dressing-room situations... I don't know why but I'm pretty sure his production will decrease. That's ok. He's just a rookie. He'll get his day. Yes Shremp and Hunter (and Bolland) are better players at the moment. I don't think it has anything to do with PR. Here are the stats for the Knights top 4 scorers: # Player Games G A pts +/- Pim 91 Bolland, David 15 20 25 45 -6 28 44 Schremp, Rob 10 14 27 41 2 10 79 Hunter, Dylan 11 7 25 32 2 10 24 Kostitsyn, Sergei 15 11 19 30 0 16 I am *very* happy with Kostitsyn's production so far. Mods: maybe one of you could put the correct spelling of Sergei Kostitsyn's name on this thread in your copius free time.

  10. I do think the new CBA is a great thing for hockey and the new rules have surely benefited our speedy players. But I think we would have been a pretty good team even under the old rules. Probably not leading the East but about 5th in the East - which we may be under the new rules. We only signed one significant free agent. Our rookies would be good under the old rules. There are many other teams who have benefited more than us with the rules change and the new CBA.
  11. I live in Kingston where we have Cogeco cable. I ordered the centre ice package to watch the Habs. When we played Atlanta a couple of weeks ago the game wasn't available. Sinced then I have been trying to find out which games would be shown. All the other games so far have been available on either TSN or Sportsnet. When I asked Cogeco I was told games carried by RDS will be blacked out here. This doesn't make a lot of sense since RDS carries all the games. Today when I called Cogeco again they told me that they are advising their customers who are fans of the Canadian teams (or maybe just Leafs and Habs fans?) not to order the Centre Ice Package since so many games will be blacked out. (Last year I saw all the Habs games with the same package.) So they let me out of the 6 month minimum I agreed to in September and have promised to refund my money and cancel the package. I will get Bell Express-Vu and RDS. At least I know I will get all the games.
  12. Don't they have Cherry on HNIUAE?
  13. Great comments. I've heard of QED. What is QID?
  14. The following quote from the game recap by Colin Pritchett exactly captures the way I feel about the Habs this year. "Unlike recent years, there was no panic in the Habs game. No sense of hanging on for dear life, and no dread when falling behind. This new version of the Canadiens is unlike any seen in a great many years, and the resilience, to go along with plenty of skill, has put them, at least temporarily, to the top of the Northeast Division.":bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow: [Edited on 2005/10/26 by Peter Puck]
  15. I will be surprised if we try to bring Hainsey back unless we have some injuries. If we try to bring him up he will have to clear waivers which I don't think he will.
  16. I expect Sarhei's numbers will drop off. The Knights got 3 or 4 players back that didn't make the NHL and so he will move down to the second line. The Oilers returned Rob Shremp whose stats are awesome: 7 games 11 goals 21 assists 32 points 8 pim :o:o:o [Edited on 2005/10/26 by Peter Puck]
  17. Keep it simple. We're only down 1 goal. No problem. Work hard and stay out of the penalty box.
