  1. That's my point. Galchenyuk is being wasted on a line with these guys. Let DD see if he can get something out of those 2 and let Galchenyuk get the benefit of better line-mates. They are trying to groom him into the #1 centre role aren't they? Why saddle him with guys who can't produce?
  2. Honestly our supposed 3rd line is really the 2nd line. Feel sorry for Galchenyuk. Maybe they should switch him with DD for a while.
  3. That sounds familiar. I'm thinking there may be another one. Was all the hardware Price won last year some sort of Habs record for trophies by one player in a season? Just looked it up. Price had most wins ever by a Habs goalie last year at 42.
  4. This current team already has a couple of records doesn't it? One for sure last year or the year before though for the life of me I can't remember.
  5. Well this thread has gone off the rails. So I wonder what this Byron guy is like?
  6. In terms of zone time and possession the leafs dominated but the Habs had the more and better scoring chances. Take from that what you will. Result is the important thing. On another note, it didn't take long for Lucic to start gooning it up in L.A. Poor baby got checked, legally mind you, and he threw a tantrum and tried to decapitate the guy and got thrown out of the game. It was a hit to the head and may get him a suspension. I'm going to miss him on the booins, he was so easy to goad into taking stupid penalties
  7. Alcohol is probably one of the worst drugs you can be addicted to. There are very few functioning alcoholics in the world and I know from personal experience that alcohol can destroy your life like no other drug. I just have to look at some of my family members for that. Doing coke or smoking weed is not going to fuk you up like being addicted to alcohol. I hope they don't write him off yet. I also believe in second chances and if it takes this to wake him up then it was worth it.
  8. I'm never one to believe the pre-NHL hype that some young players have surrounding them. There have been way too many 'can't miss' prospects that have flamed out. Gallagher seems the opposite because not many were predicting he'd be this good as witnessed by his 5th round selection. I can only hope that Mr. Scherbak will be as good with his lofty 1rst round pick pedigree.
  9. Watched the game last night and Hudon looks pretty good. Was somewhat disappointed with Sherback as I had never seen him play before and I expected more from him. Hard to tell from 1 game I guess plus someone was saying he may be sick. Hope he becomes the saviour everyone is counting on but he's not there yet.
  10. DD and Patches have to play together on the first line. That's a given knowing how they play together and their history. I'm not a huge DD fan but Patches is our best forward and DD brings out the best in him. To make that line effective size wise Kassian should be there unless he proves he can't cut it. While I agree that Gallagher is too good for the third line, I don't see him as a good match with DD and Patches on the first line. I wouldn't put the 2 smallest guys on the team on the same line much less on our top line. They would get run out of the rink. I know Therrien did it last year and it was sickening at times giving me flashbacks of Koivu/Petrov back in the day. Galchenyuk is not ready for centre and may never be. I agree with Bergevin on that one. I like Pleks, Semin, and Chucky together. Semin and Chucky on the same line could be magic. Of course if Semin or Kassian shit the bed then get Gally in there but not to start the season. Our 2 best centres right now are DD and Pleks so there's not much room to manoeuvre there. It's a great problem to have so many good forwards. However, more importantly than just ranking the top 6 players and putting them on the top 2 lines is making sure the lines are balanced and that each player is in the position that they can be most effective whether it is C, RW, or LW.
  11. I think that's the long term plan hopefully but I don't think it will happen this year especially after what Bergevin was saying regarding Galchenyuk at centre.
  12. The lines I'd like to see opening night: Pacioretty - Desharnais - Kassian Galchenyuk - Plekanec - Semin De La Rose - Eller - Gallagher Smith-Pelly - Mitchell/Flynn - Weise So these lines are not including any trades. I think any big trades are highly unlikely for the foreseeable future. I like Desharnais between two big bodies. He was at his best between Patches and Cole. It also gives Kassian a chance to succeed. Kassian still has a lot of potential which would be awesome if realized. For Desharnais haters lets face facts, he's our best play-maker and he's not going anywhere anytime soon. Having that line get bigger would take pressure off of him to be physical and he could hide in the weeds and setup his line-mates. I think that line would work. I like Semin on the second line with Pleks and Galchenyuk. A highly skilled line with Pleks serving as the defensive watchdog while still exercising his well developed offensive skills. Reminds me of the line Pleks formed with Kostitson and Kovalev. I like the fact that Pleks is good enough offensively to keep up with Semin and Chucky but is defensively aware and can prevent the inevitable mistakes coming from his 2 talented wingers. In my opinion these 2 lines are balanced and make sense. They are fashioned around successful lines of the past and they give the 2 new acquisitions a real chance to succeed and help the team. As for the rest, well Eller and Gallagher are the best players not in the top 6 in this scenario so put them on the 3rd line and fill in the blanks with the rest. It's worth a try.
  13. This is the classic case of over-rating other teams players while under-rating our own. Yes Kopitar is 6'3 but he's soft and he only scored 16 goals last year. Galchenyuk is much younger and we haven't seen the ceiling with him yet. He maybe a 40 goal guy in 3-4 years and then that trade would look awful bad. I would consider straight up but nothing more for Kopitar.
  14. This seems ludicrous to me. I would be pissed if that trade happened. You do know that Galchenyuk scored more goals than Kopitar this year and he's what, 21? Plus a first round and Beaulieu? I would tell LA to shove it.
  15. Thanks KoRP, been here a while I just never post
  16. I'm kinda scared playing the Sens as they have beat us pretty regularly lately and they beat us physically as well. There always seems to be a couple of injuries after a matchup with them. The Bruins are a better matchup but I'm leary of playing them anytime, especially in the favoured to win role. The Caps or the Panthers would be my choice for first wound matchup.
  17. I would rate the forwards in the following order: 1. Eller 2. Bourque 3. Desharnais 4. Weise 5. Gallagher 6. Plekanec 7. Galchenyuk 8. Pacioretty 9. Bournival 10. Briere 11. Gionta 12. Prust 13. Vanek I can't see how Pacioretty & Briere get higher grades than Desharnais. Desharnais was lights out for most of the playoffs and really stepped up at crucial times. Only his size let him down but he has the heart of a lion.
  18. Looking at the hit impartially, I would say that White deserved a suspension of some sort. Shanahan's explanation makes sense in that White probably didn't intend to hit the guy in the head but White made no effort to prevent the hit from happening. White came in for the hit but mistimed it and instead of bailing out he made a last ditch swing with his shoulder which unfortunately hit the head. So it's a hit with the initial point of contact being the head. Cut and dry suspension regardless of White's intent. I'm as big a Hab's fan as anyone but only a real homer would think that was a legal play. I can imagine the uproar if the roles were reversed and there was no suspension. White deserved at least 3.
  19. So Plekanac's injury is minor and still no news on Armstrong?
  20. Hi all, long time Canadien fan who's finally decided to join your forum This team has impressed me more than any since '93. More than the 1st place Kovy team or the improbable Halak led playoff year. The character and discipline is incredible right now and Therrien deserves a lot of credit. And speaking of PK...wow. Love him. He's taken a huge step this year and just imagine how far he will go as he matures. A few tweaks and this team has a real shot. Here's hoping
