  1. I made a very astute observation during the Czech-Sweden game; Plekanec and Jagr have great chemistry. Surprised more people haven't noticed this.
  2. If subban is in the box, especially in games that should be easy wins, I've lost a lot of hope for the management. This is where they should want to play subban, because the mistakes they might believe he's gonna make won't necessarily cost us a game. Not that I think Subban would be a detriment versus anyway. I think he's a top 5 defender in the entire Olympics let alone canada. I mean he grew up playing in Belville! Isn't that arena bigger? Olympic size? Maybe I heard wrong.
  3. You forget, our best player (Diaz) was just traded.Hahaha actually though, yea, all our best players are going. I hope hope Patches isn't too fragile... Kind of brings a new element to that nickname :/
  4. The 16 day break is probably needed for some of our players, i.e, Prust, as I think he might have been nursing an injury. It also works in our favor for Galchenyuk missing less time. One of the main downfalls I'm worried about is the toll this will have on Markov. He already seems tired since the start of the year, and extra hockey, and likely some of the heaviest minutes for Russia, could wear him down faster. On the contrary, I think the Olympics might be exactly what Subban needs to get the ball rolling again. He's young enough to take te workload, and a little change in routine could be great for his game. This is a great growing experience for him. Thoughts on the good and bad of the break?
  5. There's good teams and then there's great teams. Of course we could win with Desharnais at Center. Look at the devils two years ago. Anyone can win. I just don't think this is a GREAT team. Good with him, not great. I don't hate DD, think he's a great playmaker, but, if I had to make a contender, I wouldn't pick him.
  6. Just in case you're referring to me, I don't want Eller traded. He's actually one of my favorite Habs despite his current slump. I was just saying if he does go, at least get something for him.And also, I'm not saying I want conacher either, he's just a good prospect so I was using him as an example. He'd essentially be adding another Briere/ gionta.
  7. But we complain about trading Diaz while he's at low value, wouldn't this apply (maybe more) I Eller right now? I think Eller is neither as good as he was at the beginning of the year, nor as bad as he is now. I think Eller could put up 50 points given the right line mates, and is solid defensively (ignore his +\- as I'm not sure is a good indicator of his defensive ability). Look at how he played last year. That's what he's capable of. Honestly I think we could get a silverberg, Conacher, Pirri level prospect for him. I don't want to see him go for nothing.
  8. I know deep down it's not true, but I really feel like I could be a better GM sometimes. I know hindsight is 20-20, but still a lot of questionable choices coming from MB these days I find.
  9. Born in 88. He's only young. Not feeling terrible about this, as Diaz wasn't used anyway. Let's hope this provides a spark at least
  10. I'm also happy this is a matinee and I'm able to watch a Habs game this afternoon I hope subban finds his offensive game tonight ! Gordie Howe hatty for subban, book it
  11. Another win would go a long way to restore my faith in the team. I wonder what kind of impact Galchenyuk will have when he returns
  12. I can finally say it! That was good for Price. A nice confidence/ GAA and SV% booster
  13. I'm gonna wait until after the game to make any comments on the goal keeping tonight
  14. Extremely busy with university tonight so I can't watch the game, but I'm glad to hear all the positivity! Let's hope they show this all night. Go Habs
  15. Oh the irony of Bourque assisting on that. I hope all the media *%#^storm about him gave him a kick in the butt
  16. on the bright side, if MB stands pat, we'll have a top 5 pick! I really think a huge problem is this dump and chase bull*^&%. That only works if your team is big and strong enough to out muscle the opposition, and sorry, that is not our team. The weirdest thing is, the team isn't this bad. We have pieces here, we just aren't putting it together at all. Eller has been disappointing, even despite his lack of linemates, I expected more this year. MB has his work cut out for him.
  17. I see exactly where you're coming from, but don't you think the gally's are probably a better young duo than desh/pac? And Pacioretty subban a better group than Gio Plek? And to that, during the gauthier era our prospect cupboard was bare. We've probably had as many picks in two years with MB as we had in four with goat. Not to mention a lot of 2nds. I remember when kristo was our FIRST pick one year. That isn't the case now.
  18. I'm also on board that we won't get value out of trading beaulieu. In 3 years he could be a top three defenseman with his skill level. Maybe he'll just be a bottom six PP guy, but that guy really shows flashes of brilliance sometimes. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future he was worth more like Wayne Simmons in terms of forwards. I think that our next best chance at a cup comes when pk, price, and Pacioretty are the "veteran" players at around 30 years each. By then, Gallagher Galchenyuk, Eller will all have also reached close to their prime. Our defence, if it turns out well could include pk, Emelin, Tinordi beaulieu, (Patern could really turn out to be a great bottom 6 guy) and possibly one of thrower nygren or dietz. Now, none of us want the team to do bad, obviously, but netting a plethora of quality picks from shipping out Gionta (2nd) Markov (1st ) Murray (2nd or 3rd cause playoff contenders pay for size) Briere (3rd) Bourque, (bag of pucks). That's gives of a heavy depth of fairly high picks, which could all be great youth by the time we have my aforementioned veterans. Not to mention an entire bag of pucks! Add to that our current prospect pool, Hudon, Mccarron, Lehkonen, Reway, Vail, Bozon, Collberg, De La Rose, Fucale, Crisp.. I'm even forgetting some, but there's reason for optimism with that train of thought. Easier said than done 8)
  19. Serious question. Are we going to make the playoffs?
  20. That's how I'm feeling right now. But then again I haven't felt good about this team since the 10 game run. Since than we've been a crap .500. Like didn't necessarily play as good as .500, which stinks
  21. Alright let the this team sucks train start rollin. It's nights like these that I'm glad I'm not the GM, cause trades would be flying out my arse
  22. I know we lost but I loved the game. We scored, we looked good and put an effort forth most of the game. Price, despite allowing 4 goals, made some great saves. It was the type of game we lost but doesn't make me feel like we're going on a losing skid
