I see you working, clever!!KHABS WIN! KHABS WIN!! KHABS WIN!!!

It looked like Gorges wanted a piece of the ref. If I was in the NHL, well, I wouldn't be, because I'd be in prison for assault of a ref.

Exactly, pass me some of your Vodka, straight, on ice.I would just like to point out that the 4-5 minutes before the DEvils scored were spent in our zone...they're doing it again..sittin' back.
-
C'mon......I'm just having a little fun*facepalm*
-
Kaberle now has 6 points in his last 3 games!!! That's Nicklas Lidstrom territory!!
-
I said yesterday this trade would pay immediate dividends!!! Ok, maybe that wasn't exactly where I was going, haha.
-
There was talk on a Toronto radio station, I believe from Doug Maclean, that Kaberle was close to being sent DOWN to the minors. Could be BS. But if there's any truth, I don't like the sound of that.
-
In the interest of continuing the debate....on local radio, Pierre McGuire just listed about 5 teams in dire need of help on defense. And that none expressed any interest in Kaberle. The reason? The contract. He said we won't be able to move it. He also seems to have doubts about his effectiveness on the power play. As he was brought in to help Boston's and didn't in any way, shape or form. So, we might have another bad contract on our hands, with young stars due for big raises.
-
Would you kindly take your rational, well thought out analysis elsewhere. We're to busy getting fitted for a straight jacket.Ha ha, there can be no doubt Muller approved of the acquisition of Spacek.
That 'bum' has two points in each of his last two games, so presumably even Muller was able to find some kinda value in the guy.
-
The inner workings, the stuff we don't know about fascinate me. Could you imagine if coach Muller went to his GM and said "I've seen enough, get rid of this bum". And then he agreed that Spacek is a serviceable replacement!
-
I'm enjoying the positive vibe created by BTH and The Cucumber. However, did you both just decide that Gomez is suddenly easy to get rid of? Just because you say so? As if the team can now elect to dump the leagues worst contract. Ya, we got Kaberle, so teams are going to feel compelled to take that abortion off our hands. C'mon, doesn't work that way.
-
That's true. If we try to find positives. These one goal, shootout style losses? If Kaberle can chip in a few power play assists per week, it could literally be the difference between winning and losing these tight games.It should help the PP, but I don't see him in a Habs uniform too long;
-
Actually, it's hard to move, sorry. If he continues to play like he has. That's why you'll coninue to hear quotes about shocked GMs. That's precisely why Carolina traded a player they just signed this summer, and it's not even Christmas yet.lol it's pandemonium around here.
This is meh to me. The Habs needed someone to run the PP. They needed it bad. This is an inexpensive (asset wise) solution to that. Let me ask you this:
What if Kaberle gets the PP going?
And no, 4.25mil is not difficult to move in the off-season, even if things go poorly, for a guy who had 38 points in 58 games for Toronto last season.
Anyway, we'll see. He sucked hard on a team that sucked hard. Bring him to MTL, shelter him a bit, and see if he can get the PP going. Gauthier isn't throwing in the towel on this season, and he shouldn't. He's doing his job.
It's up to Kaberle now to prove whether or not he's over the hill.
-
It's funny the world we live in. Instant opinion, instant quotes. Jim Rutherford "should have known better" when he looks back at the decision to sign him. Pierre Lebrun hears from another GM who's "shocked" Carolina was able to trade that bad contract. I hope this works. And I hope it doesn't have cap ramifications this summer. And YES, it's a bad contract.
-
This deal just seems like a desperate attempt to make something happen. And the cap hit is scary looking. And he's INJURED no less. Oh and he SUCKS lately. So basically, we took on this contract, but have to hope, and wait and see. That maybe, just maybe, he can somehow manage to get back to a level he was at in Toronto. Personally, I'm tired of the negativity. Tired of the team blowing leads. I want to be a glass half full guy. This doesn't help. This is a wait and see and hope and pray deal.
-
You can( blow 3 goal leads on home ice. This team is mush, absolutely nothing going on.
-
I question his fitness level. It looks to me like a showed up to camp over weight. Now that works in baseball, I'm looking at you Cecil Fielder, but not a Jacques Martin team.

Please don't shoot me, the messenger. But, local radio host Marinaro just tweeted with a link to something called The Fourth Period. It says a major shakeup might be in the works. Which could include both Gauthier and obviously Martin, who very few want to keep. Again, I'm just offering up information.
-
I feel nothing for Pierre Gauthier. He and Martin bore me to tears. It's completely different from Bob Gainey, who I highly respected. However, I'm surprised we have a thread about firing him. Martin I can understand, but Gauthier? Does he get fired because he put all his eggs in the Markov basket? I love the Cole signing, time will tell if it's for too long. Campoli seemed good. I even liked the Blair Betts acquisition. Sadly, injuries are the name of the game. I just don't believe this team needs a mega shakeup like firing the coach and GM.
-
What?? You're posting non stop, defending Martin since the season began. Now you're telling us a puck possession game can't be implemented? Martin has been spewing that since his arrival. Also, puck possession does not necessarily equal cycle. Our smallish, fast forwards are perfect for a quick strike, pressure game. Nobody expects the players you mentioned to cycle. How do you maintain puck possession with this cast of small forwards? Do you really expect Cammalleri, Desharnais, Gionta, Plekanec, Gomez, etc... to be successful in the cycle game?
The key to any offence that a fast but small team can produce is causing turnovers and capitalizing on those turnovers.... not puck possession, because they are gonna get knocked off the puck.
Recent moves to bring in Eller and Cole have helped this a lot, but there still needs to be more size before a true puck possession game can be implemented.
-
Ya, and on local radio Pierre McGuire actually said he would have kept him over signing Budaj. Based on the nice start he's had. I immedialtely changed the station.wow Curtis Sanford, the guy that has been our minors goalie for a while, is now a legit NHL starter...
-
That's not what Dale Talon said.According to Sportsnet, Tampa and Florida do not want more Canadian games. They sell far more tickets when Philly, Pitts, and Washington come to town.
-
It's funny you say that, about anglo coaches. Because in my opinion, yes opinion, many on this team would prefer Kirk Muller as coach. And I don't believe that's such a crazy notion. I'm fully aware a unilingual anglophone coach isn't going to be hired. Also, not sure why you chose the word downgrade. In reality, none of us are really qualified to say if coach A is better than coach B.But you need to have some reason to believe that the replacement will do better or else what good is a new set of eyes? I don't believe in downgrading your coach just to send a message to your players. If they were open to hiring Anglo coaches, there would be a better case for firing Martin.
-
Great! So let's give him a nice contract extension as a Christmas gift. I'd bet that even heavy duty Martin defenders like Commandant and The Cucumber would question that. I've never called for his firing, but a fresh set of eyes, a new approach, sometimes helps. In my opinion, his message has become stale. Don't go looking for evidence, it's not something you can find.lol @ Cucumber's sanity grinding down dealing with grumpy Habs in a losing season. I can picture you on the edge of your seat, refreshing the page, waiting for a Wamsley post.
Yes and yes. I have heard the same exact criticisms made about every coach I've watched in Montreal - Martin, Gainey, Carbonneau, Julien, Therrien (I feel like I'm forgetting someone) - and will be made about every coach that comes here in the future. It's because they apply to any coach when the team is losing. You are looking at Martin's attempted solutions to losing and calling them the cause of the losing in the first place.
Nobody here could deal with the situation any better than Martin can, and no French-speaking coach out there could either.

I like what you're selling BTH.
