  1. This is basically a must win. Rangers needed 93 points for the 8th seed last year. That means we'll need 66 points in out last 55 games, just to reach 93. We can't afford that BS about first game back after a long toad trip. The team knows Markov won't be back until the new year. It's time to put up or shut up.

  2. I hope he comes back, one day, and contributes. When Pierre Gauthier spoke, he did seem confident. With about 15 seconds of research you can find out that these cleanups of a knee are standard procedure. But if he's done, and his contract is off the books, it's fascinating to think what the team can do. Just imagine if someone would take the Gomez contract as well!!

  3. This is one of the departments in which Martin struggles, IMO. We have a team that *could* score if given a little more room for creativity. We have a goalie who can single-handedly win games and has, in the past, thrived on larger shot counts. Why not loosen up the system to match the player assets on the ice and see if they can win games, rather than trying desperately to maintain a low score in the hopes they can eke them out, or at least not lose?

    Just a theory.

Now this I agree with. I have no way of knowing, nobody on this site does. But I suspect some players, like Cammalleri, have had it with Martin and his system. Not to the point on quiting on the coach, but I think some of them were beyond happy Muller got the Carolina job. I get the feeling some would like him as coach here. Again, my opinion. But at some point, if your entire career and approach to the game is offense first, and you feel like you're being held back, it might effect your play.
  4. The sour tone of this thread is interesting, considering that we just registered an important win  Instead of satisfaction that so many players are in fact playing well, that the team put in two very hard-working efforts after that abortion in Anaheim, and that we're gutting out points even without Markov, Pacioretty or a (sigh) 2nd-line C, there's just griping about various things, from Subban to the fact that we were scrambly in the last two minutes or that Kostitsyn has not been locked up long-term. Sheesh. Angry when things go wrong, angry when things go right.

You're certainly a glass half full kind of guy, and I appreciate that. This win did salvage the trip. But I saw things, like the end, that I didn't like. The tape of this win won't be going to the hall of fame. But ya, who cares?
  5. How come everytime the opposing team clears the puck when we are on a powerplay Subban stops skating? Honestly I think Subban is just a dumb player that is too full of himself. Getting tired of seeing all this lazy play, constant diving, terrible penalties every other game, just really boneheaded plays game in and game out especially with these icings.

I think he's overrated not just by the habs but by other teams and I would take advantage of that and trade him for someone that can make an impact for at least 3 years.

    NO, just NO
  6. This team is 10-16. Thank God for the loser point. Commandant can look up how many wins Martin has, and call cliches BS until the cows come home. And then offer up his own BS cliche about forgetting how to coach. I never once called for the coach to be fired, but you defenders of him seem to be more fixated on continuing the defense. Coaches are hired to be fired, we all know it. Martin is lucky he wasn't already fired, that bizarre Pearn situation saved his ass. I maintain that he get's a chance with a healthy Markov, and he's earned that right. But I also have no problem with what Colin says about schtick.

  7. Yes, this team clearly tuned him out, and weren't workin hard for him tonight.... he's lost touch with the team.

Did we watch the same game? Do you honestly think the team is quitting on the coach with that performance?

Ok, we get it, you're happy with the coach.
  8. Is it fair to fire a coach when he doesn't have a power play QB like Markov, or his replacement Campoli? Don't get me wrong, if Martin goes, I won't lose a second of sleep. He's a wealthy man, and has had a long career. I believe a coaching change might even jump start this team. But if I try to put myself in Pierre Gauthier's shoes, not sure I let him go. He deserves a chance to ice a team with a healthy Markov. This website, the entire city of Montreal is hanging on, waiting for Markov. It even looks like the team itself is anticipating his return. I think the coach get's that chance.

  9. Colin. In my opinion, you're up there with The Chicoutimi Cucumber for contributions to this site. But I can't do it, I can't read that stuff. I'm 40 years old, life is too short. I love a good conspiracy theory, how the hell did that 3rd building collapse at the World Trade Center when it wasn't hit by a plane, and seemingly had a manageable fire comes to mind. But to think a bias like you described exists? Forget it, that would drive me nuts.
