  1. I heard on TSN tonight that Julien is shaking up the lines again...... Perreault will be taken off the top line and Kovalev will take over his spot. They never mentioned anything about the other lines. Whats up with all the line juggling while the team is playing so well??? Perreault had finally started to heat up and now he gets demoted, what kick in the A$$... Does anyone know what the other lines will be? My Assumption: Kovalev-Koivu-Zednik Perreault-Ribeiro-Ryder Bulis-Dowd-Ward Sundstrom-begin-Dackell?? :ghg:
  2. I disagree with myself as well... The lines weren't garbage, infact they are four solid lines something the habs haven't had in years.. I was just angry about Ryder and Ribs being seperated, they were flying and i think both of em played there best hockey of the season while on the same line.. Dagenais doesnt deserve to be on that line at all..he's a bum. :ghg:
  3. Garbage lines!... Ryder deserves to play with a playmaker of Ribeiro's calibre.....It's sad to see Dags in his spot... :ghg:
  4. Another huge win, no expected the habs to beat these big teams!! I cant wait for the playoffs.... :ghg:
  5. Does anyone think that Dagenais would have been capable of doing what Ryder did in tonight's game??? No chance in hell!!!!!!! And thats why the lines should stay intact!! :ghg:
  6. Im not complaining about the demotion of Ryder.. I just liked the lines used against the Leafs, especially the third line...Begin-Dowd-Ward did a very good job at shutting down the Big Sundin line... And how can you like Dagenais, tell me another good aspect of his game besides his shot....He has nothing, and i wouldn't be comfortable with him on our 2nd line going into to the playoffs.. :ghg:
  7. What the hell??? Changing our lines at this point in the season?? Theres no way, dagenais should take Ryder's spot on the 2nd, and i cant see Julien moving the teams 2nd scorer to the third line in defensive role, it doesn't make since. I wouldn't want Dagenais in my Playoff lineup either.. Go with this: Perreault-Koivu-Zednik Kovalev-Ribs-Ryder Bulis-Dowd-Ward Langdon-Begin-Dackell When Perreault cools off put bulis on the top line.. :ghg:
  8. That was my post on the topic.....How did I leave out the Laffs? haha Funny thing is 5 of things that I was just joking about could actually happen: 1) Habs could be this years sleeper in the Playoffs, and upset some big teams, if everything works into place i can see them in the Final. 2) Jose is having a very solid year and should be considered for the Vezina, not sure he'll win it, but he should be a nominee 3)Souray should still be considered a nominee for the Norris and if not for the injury he would have been a lock for the Award! Right now im thinkin Chara.... 4)Ryder is obviously gonna be a nominee for the Calder this season, and of course all of us habs fans think he's a no brainer to win the award! IMO he definitely should win it, I think there should be seperate awards for Rookie Goalie and Rookie Player.....But theres not, so its gonna be a tough one. 5) Julien should definatelt be a Jack Adams nominee and he should win the Award easily. This guy coached a team that was given no chance to make the playoffs, his job seemed to on the line at numerous ocasions, and he turned them into a playoff bound team who are in a tight race to win the division! IMO if any of these Habs should win an award it should be Julien!! :ghg:
  9. i think a lot of us fans could be better analyst then most of the people on those sports shows! I couldnt understand how those guys were constantly saying the habs would finish out of the playoffs, and hed em behind teams like Buffalo, Florida, Atlanta, Washington and the Rangers...It was just sick!! The Habs have a good team, and right now i think they can beat aanyone in the east!! :ghg:
  10. What a game!....Zednik has turned into a madman, he's playing some really inspired hockey! We have 3 real good lines for the playoffs and when Bulis comes back hopefully its the end of Juneau, he's sad to watch!... Now where the hell is guy that said the rivalry between montreal and toronto was based on the hatred between the fans.....Well did you look at last nights game, the players were wild!.. Here's to you buddy and your stupid comments :-^..... This rivalry is just as lively as ever, and if we meet in the playoffs it will be brought to a whole new level!!!. :ghg: :ghg: :ghg: :ghg:
  11. I think the Habs are ready for anyone!..... :ghg:
  12. That year was awesome....The Koivu goal in game three I think was the best moment for me that year! That series was amazing... Speaking of the Habs in the PLayoffs, if you want excitement, look at the 93 cup run....I was watching it not too long ago on the NHL network, and it still gave me goosebumps 11 years later...IMO that year with all the OT excitement, that had to be the ultimate playoff year for habs fans... My favorite memory was when Desjardins capped off his hatrick in game two of the final, everyone went wild!!! Hopefully we can relive the experience soon! :ghg:
  13. Begin Dowd and Ward have taken over the third line.... Even though Perreault is starting to play well, i'd move him off the top line and put Bulis back where he was before he left.... But you could leave Perreault on the top line until he cools off, and use Bulis with Dowd and Begin which would be good as well...
  14. Im more pumped up for this one tonight then i'd be if it was a playoff game....This is our last chance this season to shut up those Leaf fans...... I love the quote by Julien, "It's our turn" It should be posted up in the dressing room, becasue its notonly our turn to win tonight but its our turn to bring the cup home!... OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE!!!!!!!!!! :ghg:
  15. Begin is becoming my favorite player as well...I'm constantly waiting for his shift to roll around, just imagine if everyone on the team had his heart and intensity for the game..... As for Kovalev, he was ok, it was nice to see the fans behind him and this will give him a boost! I hope Julien keeps that line together, once they get use to each other i can definitely see them putting up some huge numbers! :ghg: [Edited on 2004/3/12 by Bonavistaman11]
  16. I say 5-2.... Kovalev-2+1=3 Ribs-0+3=3 Ryder-1+1=2 Koivu-0+2=2 Zednik-2+0=2 :ghg:
  17. i said three points.... Kovalev, 2 goals, 1 assist Ribs, 3 assist Ryder,1goal, 1 assist. Great line...Not sure if i agree with Ryder playing on the left side tho...Anyway, hopefully it all works out! :ghg:
  18. why the heck would they break up koivu and Zed....They've just heated up and have found their old Chemistry. I saw somewhere that Bulis will be back sat nite so... Zednik-Koivu-Kovalev Bulis-Ribs-Ryder Begin-Dowd-Ward Langdon-Perreault-One of the other guys..would be my lines.. For the playoffs id have a 4th line of: Sundstrom-Perreault-Dackell......or fit Juneau in somewhere...:hlogo: :ghg: [Edited on 2004/3/11 by Bonavistaman11]
  19. I dont think its a good idea, Ryder has played his best hockey on the right side and has been playing there for the better part of the season now. This will be a handicap to Ryder right now and it may take awhile for him to get use to it.. Why cant kovalev play the left side, it makes more sense seeing that he's a left handed shot..... :ghg:
  20. Im hopin Philly!... and hopefully we can stay clear of Tbay and The leafs...For the 1st round at least.
  21. Looks like the habs are done dealing now... not even a minor deal on deadline day...
  22. Do you mean 11 games over at the end of a season or at any point in a season??
  23. Does anyone know if this guy has a clue of what he's talking about, or is it a bunch of BS. He has new rumors everyday, they hardly ever come true. Heres the latest: Komic-J writes "Everybody is going nuts with rumors at this time of year...especially when you work in a "Sport" bar in Montreal. Tonight was really quiet night, so I had the chance to talk a lot with one of our customers... Here's what he had to say... But before, let me tell you who this guy is. He works for "TEAM 990 AM", here in Montreal. Don't know if he still does it, but he used to host a show there, taking phone calls and talking about different things related to NHL Hockey. What makes him a reliable source ? Well, it's always hard to say what is true, and what's not, but here's a couple of things he told me: - Weeks before it happened, he told me Gainey was going to be named Montreal's GM. - He also told me Gonchar was going to Boston, when everybody else was sending him to Toronto...even said Morrisonn would be a part of the deal. - Told me two or three days before that Ottawa would get their hands on either Bondra or Zubrus (I had to pay him a beer tonight for that one...) However, he also told me Colorado would acquire Jagr when New York got him, and said that Minnesota would deal Gaborik somewhere else when they had some problem signing him. So I guess, it makes him a 50% reliable source, but it's pretty much what a "Trade Rumor" is all about, don't you think... So here's a couple of things I still have in mind: As we spent a lot of time talking about the Habs, let's start with them...keep in mind, this is what he said, and it doesn't mean it's gonna happen...just thought I'd share that with you... Montreal Canadiens Gainey was trying to get Lang, before he was dealt to Detroit. Apparently, Gainey offered the same deal he offered to Suther for Alexei Kovalev. Washington however was asking for Alex Perezhoggin and a 1st Rond Pick, which Gainey refused. My Take: This could be true. I know Gainey was trying to get a tough right-handed center, and Lang at 6'2, 216 pds fits this description perfectly... He also told me Montreal, prior to Kovalev trade, knocked on a few doors. Some names I still have in mind were Buffalo Taylor Pyatt and Jay McKee, Columbus Geoff Sanderson, Minnesota Andrew Brunette, and Washington Jeff Halpern, Anson Carter and Mike Grier. My Take: I can see the Habs going after Pyatt and McKee, since one of them is pretty young, plays left-wing (which we lack) and the other is a solid left-handed defenceman, which Gainey said he was looking for at some point. Sanderson, Halpern, Carter and Grier, I'm not sure about...but I also think Brunette could have been in Montreal's plan at some point. Here's an interesting one, but pretty long to explain, so follow me. He told me that Montreal was very close to a deal with Carolina, that was set to happen right after their last game. As reported, Montreal were tempted by O'Neill and Hill. The first reason why it didn't happen is because Hill didn't, at that time, say that he'll waive his no-trade clause. The second reason why it didn't happen is because Rutherford suddenly changed his mind on the offer, and decided to reject it. The initially approved offer was, as reported, Richard Zednik, and a fourth round pick for Jeff O'Neill and Sean Hill. Rutherford decided that if he was going to move O'Neill to Montreal, young right-winger Michael Ryder had to be a part of the deal. The trade was cancelled then... But !!! Montreal apparently is still talking daily with Carolina...and he told me that's the reason why Montreal went in New York to get Kovalev. He said Kovalev was brought to Montreal to fill the hole in case Montreal traded Ryder to Carolina. The reason why the trade didn't take place right after is because Gainey wanted to see how Kovalev would look on the ice before. Unfortunately, he got injured after seven minutes of play, and that might cancel the plan if the injury is serious. Apparently, the offer Montreal was going to make to Carolina was: Michael Ryder along with either Hossa, Higgins or Hainsey, and a 2005 2nd Draft Pick in exchange of Jeff O'Neill, Erik Cole and Sean Hill. My Take: I would prefer the Canadiens to get their hands on Hedican, but having Cole and O'Neill on our team would be just terrific. I would hate to see Ryder go tough, as I truely believe he's going to be a good top-6 foward in any team soon. The other team Montreal is currently talking with is the Washington Capitals, trying to get their hands on Brendan Witt (if the Carolina deal doesn't work). Grier is also interesting for Montreal, but the price is too high for Gainey. If I belive him, Carolina and Washington are the only two teams Gainey is really talking with, so any other rumor concerning them aren't true. IMO, this is a bunch of shit....Ryder has more potential then either O'neill and Cole so I can't see Gainey including him in a deal for those guys. Also Higgins and Hossa, thats crazy, theres no way were gonna be like the leafs and trade all of our future away...(although i can see Hossa goin before the deadline) What do you guys think?????
  24. Kovalev or No Kovalev, i think Gainey will make a splash in the Free Agent Market regardless.... In the end if Kovalev goes somewhere else, i'd say Gainey will pick up another good player and in the end we'll all still be happy... I can't believe how much confidence i've gained in the habs over the past few Days...Thanks Gainey! :ghg:
  25. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Zowpeb, Prime Minister Koivu and Toren......Finally some others that agree Dagenais is a bum. He's clumsy, he's lazy, he has no skill, no hockey sense at all, and he's a cancer to the 2nd line that has a great duo between Ryder and Ribs. Sure he has a great Shot, but he uses it way too much. If not for some old renewed chemistry between him and Ribs he would have been returned to the farm long ago. IMO, when Bulis returns it makes way more sense to have him on that line, especially now with Dowd, theres no reason to put Bulis in a checking role. His Defensive skills and hard work will help Ryder and Ribeiro much more then Dagenais shot will.. If Dags could improve his skating work ethic and go to a hockey school to learn the game he could be a good player, untill then we can do without him. :ghg:
