  6. The 2013 NHL Entry Draft is upon us and although the Habs don't pick until 25th overall this year, they still should be poised to add some quality prospects to the fold by the end of the day. In total, the club has nine picks to work with between the seven rounds and have a selection all but Round 5. Here are where the Habs' selections are: 1st round - 25th overall 2nd round - 34th overall 2nd round - 36th overall 2nd round - 55th overall 3rd round - 71st overall 3rd round - 86th overall 4th round - 116th overall 6th round - 176th overall 7th round - 206th overall If you haven't done so already, be sure to enter our annual draft pool. Pick the first round plus Montreal's three selections in the second: http://www.habsworld.net/article.php?id=3115 As always, we'll have detailed coverage on the site - all of our draft-related reading is here, links to any articles written tomorrow will be linked in there as well. If you're interested in more pre-draft reading, check out the draft discussion thread in the prospects forum. Who do you think the Habs will take? Who do you want them to take? Will they make any trades?

  12. Hamilton (30-39-1-5) looks to end the season on a winning note as they host division rival Rochester (42-29-3-1) in the season finale for both teams. With Rochester clinching a playoff spot last night, I wonder if they may be resting a few players. Collberg should return to the lineup after sitting last night. Projected Rochester Lines:(based on last games' +/- data) Ellis - Larsson - Mancari Rissmiller - Girgensons - Rankin Tarnasky - McCormick - Tropp Lagace - Schofield - Roy Crawford - Biega Schiestel - MacKenzie Bailen - Gauthier-Leduc Hackett Projected Hamilton Lines: Hudon - Tenute - Collberg Kristo - Nokelainen - Leblanc Archambault - Bournival - Lefebvre Hagel - Vail - Stortini Beaulieu - Pateryn St. Denis - Stejskal Tinordi - Ellis Gervais-Chouinard Puck drop is at 3:00 PM, Funny820 as always will have the play-by-play; click the banner below to listen.
  13. The final stretch of the season begins tonight as Hamilton (28-39-1-5) hosts St. John's (31-35-3-4) in a battle of teams already mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Sebastian Collberg is expected to make his AHL debut in this one and in doing so, will become the youngest player in the league...surpassing Charles Hudon. Michael Bournival and Patrick Holland both left the last game with injury so I've pulled them from the projected lineup until we hear otherwise. Projected St. John's Lines: (based on +/- data from last game) Klingberg - Jaffray - Sawada Maxwell - O'Dell - Macenauer Schnell - Lowry - Ezekiel Lunden - Tousignant O'Neill - Melchiori Ramsey - Arsene Cuility - Godfrey Sol Dekanich Projected Hamilton Lines: Hudon - Tenute - Collberg Archambault - Nokelainen - Leblanc Kristo - Belzile - Lefebvre Hagel - Vail - Stortini Beaulieu - Pateryn Tinordi - Stejskal St. Denis - Ellis Mayer Puck drop is at 7:30 PM, Funny820 as always will have the play-by-play; click the banner below to listen.

Schenn Huskins - Foster Bryzgalov/Mason Not Expected to Play Scratches: Gervais, Knuble Injured: Bourdon, Coburn, Grossmann, Meszaros, Pronger, Rinaldo, Shelley, Talbot, Walker Montreal Canadiens (26-10-5) Forwards Defence & Goalies Bourque - Plekanec - Gionta Pacioretty - Desharnais - Gallagher Galchenyuk - Eller - Ryder Moen - Halpern - White Gorges - Subban Markov - Bouillon Beaulieu - Drewiske Price/Budaj Not Expected to Play Scratches: Kaberle, Weber, Dumont, Blunden Injured: Prust, Emelin, Diaz, Armstrong Scoring Leaders Philadelphia Montreal Goals Assists Points +/- PIMS Jakub Voracek (17) Claude Giroux (27) Giroux/Voracek (39) Ruslan Fedotenko (+8) Zac Rinaldo (85) Michael Ryder (16) P.K. 16. For the third straight day, Hamilton (28-38-1-5) will try to play spoiler as they aim to dull the playoff hopes of Oklahoma City (36-24-2-9) who presently sit 7th in the West. Projected Oklahoma City Lines:(based on last games' +/-) Hartikainen - Lander - Rajala Cornet - Arcobello - Cheechoo Stretch - Vandevelde - Pitlick Hordichuk - House - Martindale Davidson - Stafford Fedun - Marincin Teubert - Jones Danis Projected Hamilton Lines: Kristo - Tenute - Holland Hudon - Bournival - Belzile Archambault - Nokelainen - Leblanc Hagel - Vail - Stortini Tinordi - Ellis St. Denis - Stejskal Ross - Pateryn Gervais-Chouinard Puck drop is at 5:00 PM, Funny820 as always will have the play-by-play; click the banner below to listen.
  17. I could say more, but why bother? Time to shut people up into thinking we are a bad match up for the Leafs and crush them again. Some Notes: Markov might be playing alongside Bouillon, O'Byrne might hilariously play 15 minutes
  18. The Bulldogs (29-36-1-5) hope to win the rubber match of a home-and-home with Lake Erie (33-30-3-7); if they did so in regulation, the Monsters would be eliminated from the playoffs. I believe it was noted during Friday's game that all three goalies are supposed to play over this 3-in-3 stretch so I'd expect Robert Mayer to get the nod tonight after Tokarski started yesterday. Projected Lake Erie Lines:(based on last games' +/-) Carey - Sgarbossa - Vincour Connolly - Hishon - Thomas Arseneau - Agozzino - Walker Hagel - Strong Pock - Lauridsen Negrin - Beaupre Sullivan - Stollery Maggio Pickard Projected Hamilton Lines: Hudon - Tenute - Holland Bournival - Nokelainen - Leblanc Archambault - Belzile - Kristo Hagel - Vail - Quailer Tinordi - Pateryn St. Denis - Stejskal Merth - Ellis Mayer Puck drop is at 7:30 PM, Funny820 as always will have the play-by-play; click the banner below to listen.
  19. Pre-Game Notes: Montreal once again dropped out of the Northeast lead, giving up one point to the Bruins. They can temporarily take it back with a win against the Sabres, who have been giving the better teams in the East fits all half season long. Buffalo might be in the Northeast basement and the only team probably not to make the playoffs in the division but they still only sit six points out of a playoff spot. Montreal needs to pump some momentum into their tires because Saturday is a game against the Leafs and the last thing Montreal wants is the last two Leaf games to be pre-playoff matches. Projected Sabres Lineup 9 Steve Ott - 19 Cody Hodgson - 42 Nathan Gerbe 26 Thomas Vanek ("A") - 63 Tyler Ennis - 21 Drew Stafford ("A") 82 Marcus Foligno - 12 Kevin Porter - 65 Brian Flynn 72 Luke Adam - 55 Jochen Hecht - 36 Patrick Kaleta 10 Christian Ehrhoff - 57 Tyler Myers 6 Mike Weber - 44 Andrej Sekera 27 Adam Pardy - 53 Mark Pysyk 30 Ryan Miller Projected Canadiens Lineup 67 Max Pacioretty - 51 David Desharnais - 11 Brendan Gallagher 17 Rene Bourque - 14 Tomas Plekanec - 21 Brian Gionta ("C") 27 Alex Galchenyuk - 81 Lars Eller - 73 Michael Ryder 32 Travis Moen - 24 Jeff Halpern - 8 Brandon Prust 55 Francis Bouillon - 79 Andrei Markov ("A") 26 Josh Gorges ("A") - 76 PK Subban 44 Davis Drewiske - 40 Nathan Beaulieu 30 Peter Budaj Nothing official yet on whether or not Bourque is back in the top six with Ryder on the third and Prust on the fourth but that's the whispers going around. Other important games to note: Islanders vs. Boston, Ottawa vs. Philadelphia and Pittsburgh vs. Tampa Bay.
  20. Pre-Game Notes: Rene Bourque will make his return to game action after missing the past 21 games with a concussion. Ryan White will sit as a result. Davis Drewiske moves up to play regularly alongside Andrei Markov while Nathan Beaulieu begins his second stint with the club on the third pairing. Joel Ward and recently-acquired Martin Erat both made the trip for Washington but neither are expected to play. Brooks Laich did not make the trip and will sit this one out as well. Alex Ovechkin is on fire at the moment with 8 goals and 2 assists in his last 5 games. Montreal Canadiens expected Line-Up Ryder - Plekanec - Gionta Pacioretty - Desharnais - Gallagher Galchenyuk - Eller - Prust Moen - Halpern - Bourque Markov - Drewiske Gorges - Subban Bouillon - Beaulieu Price Washington Capitals expected Line-Up Johansson - Backstrom - Ovechkin Wolski - Ribeiro - Brouwer Chimera - Perreault - Fehr Volpatti - Hendricks - Beagle Alzner - Green Erskine - Carlson Hillen - Oleksy Neuvirth Game time is 7:30 PM. Also worth following tonight is Carolina-Pittsburgh, wouldn't it be great if Carolina could win just their second in their last 14 games?
  21. Hamilton (28-35-1-5) will look to sweep this 3-in-3 road trip as they travel to Houston to take on the Aeros (35-24-5-5). Projected Hamilton Lines: Hudon - Tenute - Holland Bournival - Nokelainen - Leblanc Archambault - Belzile - Kristo Hagel - Stortini - Quailer Tinordi - Pateryn St. Denis - DeSantis Stejskal - Ellis Tokarski Projected Houston Lines: (based on last games' +/-) Zucker - McIntyre - Fontaine Veilleux - Dowell - Petersen Bulmer - MacMillan - Broda Phillips - Rau - DaSilva Scandella - Connelly Mara - Cuma Medvec - Kampfer Deslauriers Puck drop is at 6:05 PM, Funny820 as always will have the play-by-play; click the banner below to listen.
  22. I could watch that over and over. Pre-Game Notes: While Bergeron and Kelly look to be hurt and out of the Bruins lineup, Tomas Plekanec gets ready to return. Despite Eller impressing and Desharnais once again showing he's more of line support than an anchor, Eller is back to the third line while dd gets Patches and Gallagher on his wings. Rene Bourque skated with the fifth line and looks closer to return. Despite playing most of his NHL career at wing, with Bergeron out the Bruins are trying Seguin between Marchand and Jagr. There will be a limit on how many times Cucumber can express his frustration on Montreal not trading or signing the Bruins second line right winger Montreal Canadiens expected Line-Up Ryder - Plekanec - Gionta Pacioretty - Desharnais - Gallagher Galchenyuk - Eller - Prust Moen - Halpern - White Markov - Emelin Gorges - Subban Bouillon - Drewskie Price Boston Bruins expected Line-Up Lucic - Krejci - Horton Marchand - Seguin - Jagr Pandolfo - Peverley - Daugavins Paille - Campbell - Thornton Chara - Hamilton Seidenberg - Ference Bartkowski - Boychuk Rask Game time technically 7:00PM but you know how Saturday games go. Important games happening tonight.... nothing is more important than Canadiens/Bruins.
  23. The Bulldogs (27-35-1-5) will be in tough tonight as they travel to Texas to take on the league leading Stars (39-18-5-6) in the middle match of a 3-in-3 road trip. There is no lineup news yet although I'm hoping Vail draws back in after being a surprising scratch last night. Projected Hamilton Lines: Hudon - Tenute - Holland Bournival - Nokelainen - Leblanc Archambault - Belzile - Kristo Hagel - Stortini - Quailer Beaulieu - Pateryn St. Denis - DeSantis Tinordi - Ellis Tokarski Projected Texas Lines: (based on last games' +/-) Smith - Morin - Sceviour Hedden - Dowling - Ritchie Vause - Wathier - Petersen Gazdic - Glennie Connauton - Gaunce Oleksiak - Commodore (yes, the former Bulldog) Morrow - Benn Fortunus Nihlstorp Puck drop is at 8:00 PM, Funny820 as always will have the play-by-play; click the banner below to listen.
  24. With the Bulldogs (26-35-1-5) now mathematically eliminated from the playoffs (although with max points they're in theory still alive, remaining head-to-head matchups from other teams do eliminate them) they now set their sights on 29th place to avoid finishing last in the AHL for the first time in franchise history. Tonight, they travel to San Antonio to take on the Rampage (29-31-2-6), a team that like Hamilton, is playing all sorts of newcomers. Tonight should mark Danny Kristo's debut. Given the whack of newcomers for both sides recently, these lines are almost certainly to be wrong. Potential AHL debuts are italicized. Projected Hamilton Lines: Hudon - Tenute - Holland Bournival - Nokelainen - Leblanc Archambault - Belzile - Kristo Hagel - Stortini - Quailer Beaulieu - Pateryn St. Denis - DeSantis Tinordi - Ellis Mayer Projected San Antonio Lines: Barlow - Hamill - Rallo Combs - Timmins - Rheault Wilson - Gomes - McFarland Deveaux - Beauvillier - Ortmeyer Petrovic - Robak Yonkman - Racine Miskovic - Lee Grumet-Morris Puck drop is at 8:30 PM, Funny820 as always will have the play-by-play; click the banner below to listen.
  25. Welcome Jets. Farewell Jets. Pre-Game Notes: The Jets are currently running a four game losing streak while the Canadiens just had their three game winning streak snapped. Both teams were quiet on the trade deadline front with the Jets only picking up Mike Santorelli on waivers. The Canadiens have been perfect against the Southeast so this was a game more than comfortable at playing Peter Budaj, whose parents flew in for the game. The Jets currently sit in third due to the silly top seed standings that will be abolished next season but face considerable pressure from the Capitals, only two points back with two games in hand. Tomas Plekanec is day to day with a groin injury while Pacioretty's ankle was bruised from a shot. Only Gabriel Dumont was called up from Hamilton and only Plekanec is so far expected to sit. Montreal Canadiens Expected Lineup Pacioretty - Desharnais - Gallagher Ryder - Eller - Gionta Galchenyuk - Halpern - Prust Moen - Dumont - Blunden Subban - Gorges Markov - Emelin Bouillon - Drewskie Budaj Winnipeg Jets Expected Lineup Ladd - Little - Wheeler Kane - Santorelli - Burmistrov Tangradi - Jokinen - Wellwood Miettinen - Gagnon- Thorburn Enstrom - Byfuglien Hainsey - Bogosian Clitsome - Postma Pavelec Game time at 7:30. Other important games to note tonight include Boston/New Jersey, Philadelphia/Toronto and Long Island/Washington.
