puck7x Posted March 1, 2004 Posted March 1, 2004 Magic Number explanation: The Magic number is the combined number of wins (habs) , and losses (buffalo, 9th place team) ... That the habs need to make the playoffs. Example: If the habs magic number was 12, then for every habs win the number would go down (we win a game, goes to 11) ... And for every sabres loss the number also goes down. The magic number never goes up. (example: Our magic number is 12 , if we win 12 of our remaining games, we clinch. If we win 6, and buffalo losses 6, we're in, etc) , for ties you use halfs, if the habs tie the next game the number is 11 1/2 Also Note: This number can also be viewed as 24, but thats using total points.
