After 10 freaking years of development, the Too Human demo was released today.

Gotta say, I like the premise (always had a thing for mythology) and the battling mechanics are pretty solid as well. The game still looks like it could use a little more polish though but I think this could actually turn out to be pretty good despite all the bad press in recent years.

Also, E3 officially got under way today. Microsoft held their press conference today but Nintendo and Sony will have both of theirs tomorrow. No massive announcements however of course there is new info on games like Gears 2, Fable 2, Halo Wars, Fallout 3, Resident Evil 5, stuff like that. The 360 is also getting their own version of Mii's (they basically look the exact same actually) which will come with an entirely new dashboard, due out in the Fall.

Fable 2 is finished apparently and has an October release date.

Gears of War 2 is out on November 7th

The Last Remnant (a new Square RPG, f*ck yeah) is out on November 20th

No massive announcements

I beg to differ

That's pretty huge i'd say.

Read my post, I mentioned that.

Also, it was expected.

EDIT: Ok, never mind, I did mention it but then I erased it and wrote other stuff. Then forgot to put it back. My bad. It's still not a massive announcement though.

  • 2 weeks later...
I have Rockband. Drums > Guitar >>>>> Singing

Truth right here.

Singing is for losers. Definitely buying the special edition Ion drum set for Rock Band 2.

(although the song creation feature reeeeeeally makes me want to get Guitar Hero World Tour as well. I don't know where I'm going to put all those fake plastic instruments though)

GH World Tour still won't work with RB instruments? Activision is so weak.

I've seen that. They can't map the RB2 drums to that? RB2 has cymbals too.

The cymbals are going to be sold seperately, RB2 drums as basically the same as the first. It wouldn't make sense for Activision anyway.

Rock Band 2 has already released their entire setlist though.

Yeah, a guy on another forum I go to has tested it already and said it's a lot of fun. He tried to videotape a couple of the songs but they caught him, haha.

I'm more excited for RB2's setlist then I was for RB or GH III. My #2 and #2 band on last.fm each have a song in the game (and for some reason, I can't wait to play One Step Closer by Linkin Park even though I'm not 12 anymore)

Oh man, Guitar Hero IV's has been leaked and I like it even more. Still just a rumor but if it's true, it's going to be my favourite set list of all the games.

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/07/24/rumor-gu...-full-set-list/

A whole level of Tool songs, jesus.

I guess it depends on your tastes. There is some stuff on there I like, but a lot of retreads and stuff I don't need.

I love the RB listing and am really excited for the RB2 listing. The DLC on RB really brought it to the next level. I've got so much DLC on my copy that it is basically a different game. Between the RB2 disc, the DLC and the import from the RB1 disc, I'll have something like 200 songs to play in September, most of them very replayable (that Ramones DL is in the dustbin at this point). 500 RB2 playable songs by december? right on!

How is GH4 doing on DLC?

I guess it should be noted that I'm not much of a gamer at this point. I haven't bought a new game since rock band and I think I've only used my XBOX to play RB and like 3 sessions of NHL2008 since RB came out. All my video game discretionary cash has gone to DLC and my Live membership.

Not a lot is known right now, they're still probably fine-tuning the song creator before anything. Metallica's new album will be DLC right now and they've really stepped it up with Guitar Hero III lately. Content was pretty slow until Rock Band came out and then Activision knew they were going to have to step it up there. I'd imagine World Tour will have the same kind of thing as Rock Band, especially now that they've developed a DLC system for the Wii.

At this point I'll probably just buy the RB 2 disc and the GH IV package. I just really want to play Misery Business. Shit's been rumored for Rock Band forever now and nothings happened. If it's in Guitar Hero IV (along with a boatload of other songs I like) then I'm down.

Although I don't really care about DLC right now. I can pass on a lot of the songs Harmonix has released, I think I've only bought 8 songs and one was by accident. I don't care if it's fun to play, I want to like the song first of all.

I agree 100%. If you don't like the RB DLC or the set list, the game is pretty useless. I, on the other hand, love the Who and love Rush and I totally dig the Boston pack and the Police, etc. etc. If I didn't RB would be gathering moth balls in my storage room.

BTW - at about $2.00 a song, Harmonix has created a fantastic revenue stream for musicians. The CD is rapidly becoming obsolete - I can't remember the last time I bought a CD and every CD I have that I like has been reduced to AAC and is on my iPod and although mp3 download sales are big, it is still a nascent industry. My mom just downloaded her first album last week and I think she is a convert, but she is also pretty tech savvy for her generation. I buy some mp3's off amazon.com (cheaper than iTunes with 256kbps and no DRM) - the last 5-10 albums I've bought have been via mp3 (you bastards should all download the latest Mike Doughty and Manu Chao albums!). The music industry has proven to be far worse at adapting to new technology than the porn industry and all they know how to do is complain, stop developing artists in favour of one hit wonders, and sue like 9,000 of the millions of people who download illegally. People are pissed off at RIAA because they are attacking their own customers, in reality they basically spat into the ocean.

I hope that RB and GH4 DLC can do for quality acts what ringtones and the iTunes Top Songs list have done for bubblegum pop and hip hop dance anthems.

Thats basically what its doing for me right now. I don't really like paying $2 for songs I only sorta like too. I mean, I don't hate the music they're releasing, I do enjoy listening to a lot of them. It's just not the kind of music I see and think "Holy crap, I gotta play this right now". After playing Rock Band to death for January and February, it gets maybe one session per month.

If I do a quick look over of the DLC, not counting that Who album, theres 13 songs I want. So the RB DLC isn't exactly screaming "Play me" right now.

totally fair. Supposedly they are going to start accelerating their release schedule for DLC, so maybe more stuff you like will start showing up.
