I attribute a large chunk of the reason for this slump to lack of effort, cohesion, teamwork, etc.

But i think it's fair to say...

HABS ARE RIDICULOUSLY UNLUCKY as of late.

Also, why is it that the Habs encounter goalies with average to good seasons that play very good to excellent games? Do we really "bring it out" of them that much? What's going on here?

Sheesh.

The Hockey Gods must be angry at us, but what did we do?

The tables will turn, eventually, but until then... this is utterly depressing.

well 8th is better than 7th... I'd much rather play Buffalo tan New Jersey...

this team will not get better as long as Koivu is the "top player" on the team. He either has to become our number two center, or trade him. He just is not getting it done.

I never liked his signing, mainly because it was for too much money. He should never have gotten that much for that long...

I didn't like his signing at all, either. He's a number-two center, and he's prone to playing like a 3 or a 4 for long stretches.

that GO :hlogo: GO! thing at the end of every post has become just a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle silly with the negative comments preceding it.

I'm just saying...please pick one: optimism or pessimism :)

What a game, two teams going absolutely nowhere. What trade can Gainey possibly make? Talk about dealing from a position of weakness. Nobody wants our crappy players anyway.

Good thing is that after that horrible streak we are still in the playoffs picture. I can't believe we'll continue to sink for another 10 games. Hopefully the bad streak is over soon and we'll rise up again and escape the dangerous teams that are trying to reach the 8th spot.

As for being unlucky...7 weeks of losing is not bad luck.

I'm not saying the last 7 weeks have been because of bad luck, certainly not, but you have to admit : Habs have been bitten by bad luck more than good lately.

It's only making matters worse..

(p.s. read my post next time ;))

if toronto wins, we'll be one point out of 9th place and toronto has a game in hand...

if the islanders win, we'll be two points out of 9th place and the islanders have a game in hand...

in any event, we are now on the edge of the playoffs position...

wow... what a slide, in a way...

but, then again, at our best, we were never that very far ahead of those teams... it's called a well balanced league...

GO :hlogo: GO!

that is why he should have made a trade for a decent center in the first half, when our spare parts were over achieving. That is what gutsy GMs do...

Belfour made a couple of nice saves, but he didn't "stone the habs". The Habs didn't exactly shoot up a storm on him.

so.. another loss tomorrow against NJ and then what? time to sell the UFAs?

It is definitely time to sell the UFAs. All that optimism after last year's playoffs.....

Why didn't Kovalev play tonight? Was he a healthy scratch?

He's injured, has been for some time. He's tried to play thru it.

I agree Cataclaw. Montreal is so unlucky lately. And I think they need some luck right now. One lucky bounce early in the first and I bet they can win. Right now they don't have the confidence .
