Puck's Comparison

Offense: Slight edge to the Bruins when Thornton is healthy (when he isnt healthy, Habs take it) , they have more top-6 firepower then the habs, and the size advantage (big, strong forwards). Habs have the definite speed advantage, and can use it to exploit the Bruins D, as they did 2 years ago. Bruins have the better defensive forwards (especially in top-6). Bottom lines are pretty even. EDGE Bruins

Defense: Both teams have big D's, big slow D's. Bruins improved their mobilty when they acquired Gonchar, but they still have the likes of Hal Gill on the backend to slow the whole unit down, I'll give the defensive edge to the habs, as well as the offensive one (Souray/Markov vs Gonchar/Boynton? I'll take the habs pair) ... EDGE HABS

Goaltending: Habs! No doubt, Theodore has the experience edge. Raycroft has a 2-12 career playoff record in AHL/OHL (okay okay... i know, different leagues). EDGE HABS

Coaching: Pretty even, a couple of rookie coaches who took their teams to places where nobody expected them to go... NO EDGE

Anyways, call me a homer if you want. But Boston just doesnt scare me much. We beat them 2 years ago, and while the Bruins have improved since then, so have the habs. Replace Stumple for Nylander, replace Dafoe with Raycroft, minus Guerin, add Bergeron, replace McLaren with Gonchar ... As for the habs? Well... We all know how much better we are compared to 2 years ago.

Prediction: Habs in 6

I want these top 3 lines. The fourth line is the one CJ has to decide on. Does he want scoring, spare parts, toughness, defence, skill, etc.

Bulis - Saku - Zed

Ryder - Ribs - Kovy

Begin - Dowd - Ward

On defence, KOMI needs to be in there. Who comes out? I want to say Quintal, but he's a vet with a big heart... Maybe Bouillon will be on the outs if he gets pushed around by the bigger guys and can't hold them off. I like the little man, but if Komi is going to help us out in a bigger way...

Souray - Komi

Markov - Rivet

Q/Cube - Brisebois

I don't mind Kovalev on 3rd line.. i don't worry, when he'll fire up, we'll see him on 1st line with Saku. The thing with Kovalev is that we don't "need him" really. Our first 2 lines has good chemistry (Dagenais is good). The Kovalev's addition gives us an intengible, a special weapon, a different angle to analyse the team.

Forget Kovalev for now.. and he'll come out strong and we'll enjoy watching him:ghg:

Komi won't be dressing to start the playoffs... but given the banged up D we have, he might come in later on to replace an injured player.

Souray isn't 100% (knee & wrist), Breezer (groin, chronic back), Rivet (left last game with back spasms).

As for the lineup, mine would be:

Bulis-Koivu-Zednik

Ryder-Ribeiro-Dagenais

Begin-Dowd-Ward

Sundstrom-Juneau-Kovalev

Souray-Quintal

Markov-Rivet

Bouillon-Brisebois

Healthy scratches: Perreault, Dackell, Langdon, Komi, Dykhuis

But the lineup I expect is the same 2 top lines, but Begin-Juneau-Kovalev & Langdon/Sundstrom-Dowd-Ward.

CJ will juggle the lineup between & during games the whole way anyway...

I like having Kovy on an extra line, he was bringing nothing to our top lines... put him on a 3rd or 4th and anything he does is a bonus.

Plus he'll still get a prime opportunity to contribute on the PP.

The lines from last night in Buffalo were okay. I really enjoyed seeing Kovy on the third line with limited time. I actually didn't snap as much as usual. His antics and brain cramps didn't happen as much. Bottom line, I would like to see Komi on the D for sure and I would like to see Perreault dressed, but that means poor Langden would be scratched, and I love this KOvy on the third thing. I think in playoffs we need to dress Langdon, he is a necessity, remember last time. Boston is cheap and we need him to stand up for our players to prevent some injuries from happening. I know, I want a lot, but it would be nice!!

I also think that Perreault should be playing in the playoffs. We will need his faceoff ability and if he can get hot he will be a real good player for us in the postseason. He seems to have a knack for scoring big goals too. I wouldn't mind seeing the Perreault-Koivu-Zednik line back.

Thornton is banged up considerably, we need to punish him at every chance we get if/when he gets back in the lineup. I'm sure Begin wouldn't mind getting a little revenge for the cheap shot Thornton gave him last week.

Can't wait for game 1!

Perreault are both guys who do little else than score... I think we can afford to have one of them in the lineup, but not both at the same time.

Perreault was hot for a while, Dags sat... now Dags got going last game so Perreault sits.

If Dags get cold again, then try Perreault.

The playoffs will be long (hopefully), both will be in & out of the lineup IMO.

Lineup? No idea... maybe we should go with 3 balanced lines... and a bang and crash line?

Bulis-Koivu-Zednik

Dagenais-Ribs-Ryder

Perreault-Dowd-Kovalev

Langdon-Begin-Ward

So tough to make a lineup... we'll have 3 guys sitting no matter what. Juneau, Dackell, Sunny... I doubt all 3 will sit. I have no idea what CJ will do... as for my lines, it was just putting things together... That 3rd line scares the hell out of me in their own end. LOL

Perreault is a lot more useful than Dagenais. Dagenais can score, but so can Perreault. It just so happens that Perreault is better on the PP, face-offs and clutch goals.

I'm not a big fan of Dagenais.

I'm a supersticious mo-fo, and I don't wanna jinx anything - so I say just as I voted in the poll - the Bruins in five. Let's just hope our brave heroes prove me dead wrong.

I'm not a big fan either, and I like Yanic who played Junior (and rocked the Q league) in my town.

Probably Perreault is a better player, but what do you want to do with it.

- Dagenais is big (even though he isn't very physical, the line might be more respected). Dags can go in front of the net and score important goals in the playoffs. THat's where playoffs goals are scored.

- There is a chemistry between Dags and Ribs

- Perreault is a natural center and isn't fitting really well with Ribs and Ryder

Anyways, Perreault or Dagenais won't be use much on PP, since Kovalev will surely jump in. As for faceoff, Koivu and Ribs are not that bad. Yanic might take those on defensive zone.. And yes he can score, but not on the top 2 lines.

If Kovalev plays on the 3rd line, that means that nothing is granted for anyone. That's what I like with Julien. If someone takes it easy.. bye bye, it won't take too long to see him on the 4th line or scratched. (as long as we have no injuries)

Habs in 5. I predict a short serie, and that's because Thornton will play hurt and Boston will struggle with their lines and don't adjust in time, while Raycroft will deal with his first playoffs experience. If they adjust, there's no way in my mind we can win a long serie.

We forgot to mention the playoff experience of Perreault over Dagenais. The year the Habs made the playoffs was when Perreault was the top scorer, right?

I'd much rather see Perreault on 1st playing LW over Kovalev. He deserves it more right now, and Kovalev can score just as well with anybody.

Just because Dagenais sometimes plays well with Ribeiro, he gets to start?

This isn't a Henrik/Daniel Sedin line.

We will chock them with another start of a winningstreak beating their asses in their hometown and then we will finish them off in Bell Centre.

Game1 5-0 habs win

game2 5-2 habs win

game3 2-0 habs win

game4 3-2 habs win (ot)

:hlogo: in four games

Actually i think that Perreault-Dowd-Kovalev line is more or less our 4th line. With playoffs now your gonna see more matchups like montreal played in the early part of the season. So expect Begin-Juneau-Ward to see Thornton Murray. Thats also exactly what i wanna see a defensive line out there shadowing those guys because that seems to be when we have our most sucess. Also remember Begin has already gotten under Thorntons skin so he might be able to draw a few powerplays for us and basically help keep those guys off the score sheet. Plus you must have someone out there that is willing to throw their body around and hit guys when going against Thornton and Murray if any of our other lines are out there those guys will just have a field day. So exepect Juneau begin ward to get 17 minutes in the game. Perreault and those other guys about 12 and then Kovalev might get around 15 minutes part of which are from powerplay unless he catches fire

I can definitely imagine Joe Thornton getting sooky, maybe even a cry, if Julien puts Begin up against him!!

haha this would be great.....

begin can be a super pest and he'll be one of the key factors in this years playoffs for the habs...
