Line-up I'd like to see in Oct.

Recommended Posts

Third line i would like to see in Montreal. Johnson-Chipchura-Lapierre

Always check what the good teams are doing.

Take the Anaheim checking line is three guys with defensive role not players who were low scorers and became

defensive specialist. They are players who uses anticipation use their body to hit opponent to keep the puck in the opponent zone.

Take these three players. Pahllson, Niedermayer and Moen.

There is no use to try to develop Chipchura hands for the net another year. It's a thing you got or you don't.

But he is the perfect third centerman for us, he could do a better job then Pahllson in a similar role.

Niedermayer is a special player he was drafted really high and never furfilled the scoring expectation, but the possesses a vision of

the ice and an hability to position himself at the right place at the right time.

Face it we have no players like that. Johnson is the only player that i see that can play a role like that.

And Moen, a player that is strong that is gonna hit the defense hard with his weight and fight hard for the puck.

Who can do that for us ?? We have no strong forwards that can do that, but if a player like Lapierre could play wing

But if we can trade fora big gritty winger we would have a similar line that Anaheim has.

oh ya, by the way pahllson has scored 3 straight game winners in hockeys biggest stage (game 6 west final and both home games in the stanley cup finals)

and you think chipchura can do better for us in a similar role even though he has yet to even play a single nhl game?

Have you even seen chipchura play hockey?

i might have the word initiation under my name but i have been reading these posts for a very long time and alot of people know a great deal about my beloved habs and hockey as a whole, but then i read a post like yours and think

" sh*t, i just wasted 30 seconds of my life"

I think Moen got the winner in game 1.

I would be absolutely thrilled if the Habs could get Souray for 4 million (let him go if it's any more) while trading Samsonov and Kovalev. With the cap space cleared by those two, they'd have an outside chance at pulling in both Smyth and Drury. A pipe dream, of course, but a good dream nonetheless.

That's what I would perfer as well ... I think a team like Washington would bite on Kovalev and not have to give much salary back ... They might like the idea of Kovy playing with Ovechkin.

Yep. Pahlsson got an assist on it.

But still, Pahlsson's been awesome in the playoffs, has 9 or 10 goals now, 4 game winners and has been racking up the hits. Went 83% in the faceoff circle in Game 2 which is incredible.

I meant him no disrespect. He's been a force this postseason.

WOW

Pahllson should be this years winner of the Selke trophy and possibly the Conn Smythe winner. Comparing Chipchura to him is one thing but saying he would do better in a similar role is not jut a bold statement it boaders on

my mistake, moen did get the winner in game 1 but pahllson tied it up late in the third.

And my post early was not to bash it was to simply state that you should realize what your posting before you click that button because there are alot of people who understand the habs and hockey and to waste are time by putting 2 (basic) rookie centers on 1 line and say that the AHLer is gonna be better then a guy who is playing darn good hockey (pahlson) is in fact wasting time.

And if you think he is ready for big minutes in the NHL you are sadly mistaken. Chips does not have it quite yet to make a big impact to the habs next season.

Maybe in the final stretch run next year will he be truly ready for a call up.

We have dan jacevski, matt d'agostini ready with locke and o'bryne not far behind. grabo is getting there.

I just think CORVINA has it it on the nose that the amount of prospects that are ready to make the jump is increasing by the minute and Gainey will have no choice but to package some in order to bring in impact players to take us to that next level of hockey. OR ELSE we will risk losing some for nothing (e.g francois beauchemin, perezoghin) and the list will almost certainly grow because all these prospects wont wait around forever to get there shot. 2009 is just around the corner and this is the year gainey has to make his moves that will make us or break us.

You add the recent trade Gainey made and it gives even more evidence to support this theory. I am not convinced Bob is interested in Briere or Drury but is planning to use the logjam of young talent for a trade.

I agree with your point completely. Either we start a whole bunch of rookies this season and next or we trade them. If we don't we will loose some of them.

I will waste 30 seconds of my time to reply to some trash talking about a line that

i would like to see. Some players that would give all they can and bring a energy level

to all the team.

Yes i have seen Chipchura play. I think he has the size, the sense of hockey, the determination

and the team commitment to center a third line in the NHL. Yes he will make some mistakes and will have some

time to adjust but by the half of the year at the NHL level. I am not comparing him to a star for sakes

i am comparing him to Pahlsson.

No Mike Johnson is not done in Montreal. He wants to stay, he would bring stability to a young line.

He skates and see the ice well.

For Maxime Lapierre, i don't see anybody else on that team that has size, speed, grit and poise. Why would we keep

him on a fourth line playing 8 minutes a game.

2 defensive center on a same line??

Look closely at the job of Niedermayer and Pahlsson are doing, they are playing both like centerman wich Niedermayer

backing up Pahllson and Pahlsson bacjing up Niedermayer.

I see nothing wrong with that.

But if you prefer to bring some players from other teams at 2.0million + each to play checking role, like we did in the past

with Sundstrom, Bonk, Juneau, Dackell,Poulin, Randy Mckay etc etc...

I prefer building from within even if it means moving players position.

I'm with you on the Johnson thing, but disagree for Chips and Lapierre. I wish Chips to be on our roster the day he will clinch Lapierre spot on the 4rth cuz i don't want to see our 3rd line as a checking line anymore.

here's the lineup i wish for 2007-2008

Ryder - Drury/Gomez - D'Agostini

Kovalev - Koivu - Lats

Kost - Plex - Higgins

Bégin - Lapierre - Johnson

Markov - Komi

Souray - Defensive UFA (let's say Hannan)

Streit - Bouillon

Huet-Halak

with the cap increasing, i can see Dandenault out of here with Aebischer and Bonk.

I agree with you, I'd like to see three scoring lines and a shutdown/energy 4th line. However, D'Ago on the 1st line? Is he actually that good?

I like the lineups.. and love the 3rd and 4th lines (me being a big fan of the fourth line) still if Kovalev is still in our roster (which I personally want) is giving him Koivu enough for him? also point taken Im sure you have envisioned just switching Ryder for Kovy!

All in all this would be the most likely (optimist version) that we get ONE top UFA ... the chances of getting TWO are slim

don't know if he's ready for that but Lats wasn't so bad with big names last season. D'Agostini could maybe do the same. It would balance the 4 lines nicely though.

is Hannan a top UFA ??? he's a good player but hasn't the value of a Souray...

-Ryder* - UFA* Centre - Higgins

-Kovalev* - Koivu - (the other Finn forgot his name lol or Latendresse)

-Johnson* - Plek - Kosty

-Lapierre - (Hamilton*) - Begin

*= if traded replace with UFA or newly adquired from trade player

If Johnson is given a contract if not place hamilton or trade there.

This is what I really believe will happen... were too close to the Cap Trades are gonna happen

You are missing the point........in the grand scheme of things we should be rolling 4 good lines all game and each should have there own characteristics. Your 3rd and 4th lines are essentially the same thing why have 2 of them.we dont need a eenrgy/checking line as our third and fourth.

Our stars (1st and 2nd)should be logging minutes on special teams. e.g Kovy and souray on the PP but should not touch the ice on the pk and markov should be playing both which would give him his 25 -30min. to name a few.

I know johnson wants to stay but HE is that guy you are talking about (juneau dackell etc.) and i think Gainey has made it clear by saying he would not be making an offer prior to the 1st of july so that he should look for pastures greener and HEY if were stuck and he hasn't found a home..... we'll take him back at for a lower tag.

But I WANT the cup and a third line of rookies and a johnson(dackell) aint gonna cut it. Have you seen Buff/ DET/ ANA/ OTT 3rd lines compare them and see how chips, lapierre and johnson would fair.

I luv chips and do think he is of NHL calibre. But 1 season in the AHL aint enough for him. His skating is suspect and he would stand no chance in a traditional checking role shouting down the opposing teams #1 center. And Lapierre is force and is very strong on his skates.... why convert a natural center especially when it is 1 of or depth issues.

superstar L wing>> koivu>> ryder

higgy>> pleks>> kostits

lats>> bonk>> kovy

begin>> lapierre>> and a Hamilton bulldog to be won a training camp

my analysis is

selanne is wishful thinking but gainey might look for an all finn line selanne koivu lahti but a winger for koivu is a most. The leafs have made the mistake for years playing Sundin alone and WE have quietly done and asked the same of saku. Give him a star left winger and watch them tear up the league.

I think gainey is looking in fact for a 1)left winger,2) an upgrade of bonk so pleks can be our third line center (not chips) and 3) move kovy, sammy, dandy, boullion, a goalie and prospects for another major upgrade and to also create another spot to be filled in by a bulldog.

he will also try to sign a defender but i think it wont be any of the hannons or rafalski's but rather a Danny Markov(perfect for streit) or a Schnieder perfect for souray

HOPEFUL

markov komi

schnieder souray

striet d. markov

Emelin?/ jorges/ jancevski

sorry for all the sp. errors

The Faerie's wet dream would be:

Lahti-Koivu-Selanne

Latendresse-Drury-Kovalev/Ryder

Higgins-Pleks-Kostitsyn

Begin-Lapierre-Milroy/Ferland/Whoever

Markov-Komisarek

Souray-Timonen

Streit-Emelin

Huet

Halak

Probably would never happen because of cap issues, but dayum, I would love that team.
