PK Subban. Interesting.

I saw him play with Belleville a few times this year when I went to see the Wolves play there in the OHL playoffs. He's a huge fan favorite over there and has a cannon for a shot. Could be a PP specialist.

WHo's that guy?

I watched him play a little over 30 times this year.

His points far exceed his true talents.

ha can Skate and make a first pass. That's all he's got/ If there are guys in front of the net they can set up a tent and stay as long as they want.

Should have taken Mayorov!!

Oh man the RDS guys will be pissed about this one.

I was watching RIS before this and they said Gainey was trying to getting a better pick like crazy and they speculated Kevin Veilleux or Kevin Marshall. They even added "the Habs owe a Q kid the dream of being drafted by them".

Son, I would be surprised if literally anyone on this entire forum has seen PK play more than I have. I have been watching him play in the GTHL since minor bantam, and have seen him play with Belleville roughly a dozen times in the past two seasons.

He is a good skater with a powerful stride and lives to jump into the rush. He has better than average hands for a defenseman. Ever since he was 13, and still today, he will try to go coast to coast every time he gets the puck in his own end with some room and a head of steam. When he tries that, he will cough it up in his own end or in the neutral zone around 50% of the time.

I'm not old enough to remember how the "rover" played before the NHL went from six to five skaters, but I imagine he looked like PK Subban. Just all over the friggin' place, with the first priority being trying to generate offense.

Let me put it another way: I can name no defenseman in the entire NHL who plays similarly to the wild way that PK plays."

RDS guys are mental. They should clean house and go with "hockey people" not french hockey only people

Wow, what the... ? Seems like the Habs reached there. Could have been available in the 3rd round it seems... unless the Habs knew other teams were really interested and they didnt want risking losing him.

Really pushing the enveloppe with D-men in the past drafts. Fischer, Carle, Valentenko, McDonagh and now Subban...

LOL... reading some stuff around the Web... seems like Subban is a crazy offensive-only D-man... extremely talented, tries end-to-end rushes, but also makes mistakes half the time.

Looks like a gamble pick, I sorta love it now.

I can get Subban on Habsworld at some point this summer for a Q&A if you want.

I'll see where he is going for the offseason and see when he can do it.

Why does Toronto have Montreal's 103rd pick according to the draft board on NHL.com?

trade of johnson last yera for a 4th rounder later sent in the perreault trade at trade deadline.

Everything I read says this game is crazy and has no style whatsoever and just improvises his way from one end of the rink to the other. I'm so excited to watch him play. :D

I love that line!

I'm really surprised they passed on Veilleux. Veilleux said the Habs were the team that showed the most interest in him during his interviews with the team.

Guessing Subban was high on the Habs list.

Looks like the Habs really went with a need-first strategy this year. Habs lack good offense from the D, and they went hard for McDonagh and Subban in this draft, and it was Fischer and Carle last year.

Wow... all in a sudden we have 4 D-men in the system that all have very strong offensive upside.

Huge turnaround right there.

Marshall was already gone.
