Psycing
Yeah I doubt Carolina makes the playoffs without Brind'amur or Williams. Don't forget Sergei Samsonov is playing - that can't be good news for them either. (Kidding of course, the guy seems to be back on track.) InsaneHABSfan
Yeah I doubt Carolina makes the playoffs without Brind'amur or Williams. Two of their best players would help them get in the playoffs. They just might squeak in as they have a pretty good goalie and Samsonov is not SamsonSUCKSov playing for the Canes. Whats up with that????
BTH
I'd be surprised if Grabovski ever becomes more than a fourth line PP specialist.
JMMR
I'd be surprised if Grabovski ever becomes more than a fourth line PP specialist. He will find his spot somwhere in the NHL I would no be suprised if he is not a Hab next year if he has 40ish points.

Neech
Grabovsky's on a hot streak, and he'll probably get another chance with the team next year. This year he was clearly not ready and was weak and useless. Maybe he'll bulk up and play with more confidence, but at this point I don't see him being a Habs in any effective role. Chipchura is way ahead of him, and I like what I've seen from Dandenault this year, he's much more useful in the lineup.

I think that this production has granted him a trade under new skies. GMs are looking for that, young players who show they can produce. saskhab
BTW, it's 16 points, not 17. But I do believe it's still 5 straight games with at least 3 points, which is ridiculous. I don't recall anyone at any high level (major junior through pro) ever having 5 straight 1st star selections.

Wamsley01
Yes they had their choice of Hossa Plekanec Balej and another player. LOL, so they had the pick of the litter and the one guy they don't take turns into the best player. And people were shocked that the Rangers with all the money they spent didn't make the playoffs for 7-8 years. THis is the perfect time for Grabs to heat up, could suck somebody in to thinking he is one of our elite prospects.

I know that Grabo did not look ready when he started the season in Montreal, but he did not have too much to adapt to the league either. Let's face it, before the younger Kostitsyn was recalled, the big brother was not particularly effective either. In fact, I was a bit disappointed. He was not solid on his skates, was rarely in the play and was going nowhere on the ice. Patience and the presence of Sergei changed all that. I would say that Grabovsky has all the potential to surprise us. Of course, he is not big, or physical, but he has tremendous speed and great speed. There is room for this kind of players in the new NHL. Daniel Brière is an example, but there are others. Ribeiro is far from being a bully, but he succeeds. Let's be patient. I just hope that he will be recalled this year. I think that there is room for him. Guys like Dandenault, Smolinsky or Kostopoulos can't be replaced by a better player. And now that Begin is injured (once again), there is an opportunity to bring him back to Montreal. I don't know if the Habs will land Hossa (I would prefer Jokinen). If not, Gainey will probably ask for Grabo. Who knows? maybe he can make an impact. JCPetit (I wish he was in the goal against Pittsburgh)
JCPetit
I think that the last time the Habs had a prospect as hot as Grabovsky in the AHL was when Stephan Lebeau was the AHL top scorer. It's been quite a while, more than 15 years. If my memory is good, Lebeau, and his brother Patrick, both played for the Habs when they won their last Cup in 1993. Although they were great junior and AHL players, they did not reach stardom in the NHL. The reason is very simple: they were small, had excellents stickhandling skills and good hockey sense, but their speed was never more than average. Grabo has all the tools. He'll be an excellent NHLer. JCPetit (we should trade for him)
Mont Royale
I think that the last time the Habs had a prospect as hot as Grabovsky in the AHL was when Stephan Lebeau was the AHL top scorer. It's been quite a while, more than 15 years. Don't forget - Jason Ward was the AHL MVP in '02-'03! So I think the lesson is that tremendous AHL success does not automatically translate into significant NHL success - and I think we'll see that Grabovsky, unfortunately. habscout
You know, with Detroit having both Lidstrom and Rafalski injured, maybe Montreal might be able to deal Dandenault back to Detroit, for a pick or a prospect ? His contract only runs this season and next, so Detroit should be able to afford him Yeah, Dandenault's -12 has no place on this team. -12 on a first place team... you are doing something wrong. In fact I bet he would clear waivers on the way down and most likley on the way up as well.

Don't forget that he has been one of the best players in the last two training camps. It's not easy for European players to make the transition to North American rings. Once the adaptation will be made, he should be all right. Two more weeks like the last one and Gainey will have no choice but call him up. Take my word! BTH
Gainey said he is willing to deal a young player. Grabovski is our prospect with the best tradeability:expendability ratio so I would not be surprised to see him throw in to a deal.

Grabovski is our prospect with the best tradeability:expendability ratio so I would not be surprised to see him throw in to a deal. If we are going to trade for an impact player, we may have to give a high profile prospect. I don't have a problem with that, as long as we really get an "impact player" able to bring to the team to an upper level. If the trade turns sour and the prospect we gave blossom in a Martin Saint-Louis or a Daniel Brière, we will regret the trade for a long time, especially if the trade is done with an Eastern division team. There's no room for error. If you give good players, you have to obtain a great hockey player. JMHO
