JLP
morning gents! some decent pk and hustle there, higgins with a sweet clear and nice to see kovy carry the puck across the LA blueline rather than simply dumping it in, looks like we are not in our old "defensive mode" protecting the lead. Of course i've only watched three minutes and i'm as hungover as thatLA fan with the beer head looks like he'll be tomorrow . . .

TheAussiePosse
Aww, I wanted Kovy to get the EN. But I like how the points tonight are spread all around - Habs really can balance the scoring

sbhatt
Solid win...nice to see Latendresse score one. Hopefully this gets the monkey off of his back and he chips in regularily from here on out. Surprising to see Kovy held off the scoresheet though.

TheAussiePosse
Lats- Looked like the weight of the world was off his shoulders. Kovy- barley played at all, Carbo was resting a lot of guys for tomorrow. Makes sense now. I was wondering how in the hell Bouillion and Gorges could both have 40 minutes of ice-time between them. Halak should be happy with his performance - 37 shots is a lot, the second most he's faced in an NHL game (he saw 39 in a 5-2 win over Atlanta around this time last year). Ultimately though, we didn't deserve to win 5-2. We probably didn't even deserve to win 5-4. Let's just hope there is some bringing of A-games tomorrow (and that those who snapped their cold streaks tonight - Latendresse, Kostopolous, Brisebois - can influence those lazy Americans who were held off the scoresheet - Komisarek, Higgins and Ryder. Okay, he's not a Yank, but most of Canada doesn't even want PEI anyway to my knowledge).
MFT77
Outshot badly again, but nice to get the 2 points. Sometimes skill can make up for being outplayed. Nice to see Lats hit the board. Even Kostopolo with the empty netter. Must feel good for him. Good production tonite that was spread out. Kovy with 0 and the Habs still got 5 goals. With the lead Carbo could roll 4 lines and rested some guys a little for tomorrow. Solid work by Halak, especially since he hasn't played for awhile. Made all the saves he needed to. A little scary when he handles the puck. Saw Breezer pick up the puck at the end of the game. Wonder if it was for Halak or maybe himself thinking that might be the last game he ever plays. If it is he'll have a goal and a win to remember it by. Hoping for another win tomorrow, as it would be a bonus on this trip. Price is gonna have to stand tall, but Anaheim got shutout the other day, so they should come out gunning.
brobin
ARGGHHHH... I didn't realize it was an afternoon game out east and I missed it... I really wanted to see Halak play, but at least it was a win. I guess I will just watch the 93 habs win the cup.. if they would stop with the stupid pop-ups...

Okay, he's not a Yank, but most of Canada doesn't even want PEI anyway to my knowledge). I think Carbo has more confidence in the Bouillon/Gorges pairing. My opinion is that Gorges is coming along very well and his confidence is getting better each game. On Lats goal, he read the play well and jumped into the rush, something he probably wouldn't have done early in the season. From Lats to Gorges to Sergei and back to Lats and Gorges rushed to the net hard creating room for Lats to shoot. A well-deserved 20 minutes tonite. Bouillon on the other hand has been playing about as good as he can, but i'm not sold on him. Don't think he sees the ice great and loses his man lots in his own zone. But he will be replaced soon enough. While he is still on the Habs i will cheer for him, but his is pretty limited and i'd rather see him play 12-14 minutes. brobin
Watching the 93 game and noticed a couple of things... 1. The goal Roy let in was at a critical time and would have had this site up in arms about his crappy goaltending. 2. Hrudy was about as good a goalie as he is a commentator... 3. Carbo would be in the penalty box the entire game if he played today. Granted, he would be able to chat with Gretz while he was there. These games remind me that being a defensive player in todays NHL is much harder then 15 years ago. Carbo was able to interfere, hook, and tackle guys. Kind of makes it easier to be a defensive specialist. No wonder him and Muller are coaching these guys to play offensive. Anything he taught them about playing would be a penalty these days.
