Prime Minister Koivu
Halak was absolutely stellar. The Kings for most of the game were faster and tougher than the Habs were. It was great to see the Habs play. I have not been able to watch a game all week.

The Habs did not play thier top two lines very much and did not forecheck Simple as this Kings top to lines > Habs Defense (speed)
Neech
Just like the rest of this roadtrip we didn't bring our A game. Luckily, Halak played great. He had no chance on either goal, and he made several big saves. The only minus was that I noticed him making a few bad decisions with the puck, like chipping it along the boards when a defender was wide open behind him, but that probably happened because this is his first start with us. None of our lines were really great or glaringly bad, but we managed to capitalize on our chances. I was happy to see Lats score, and that was a great feed from lil Kosty. Ryder had a few good chances in the first half of the game. I'd say the best player on the ice for us was Hamrlik, he was getting it done. Tomorrow will be an interesting test. Habsfan
Good morning Ladies. Our boys played well enough to get the two points. I thought Breezer played a very good game. He scored a goal and didn't make any defensive mistakes. Nice to see Latendresse finally get a goal. hopefully he'll score 5 more by the end of the season. Gorges is impressive, plays a solid game. Halak was very good in nets. It must be tough playing in an important game when you haven't played in 2 weeks. Good for the Kid. The reffing was horrible. There's no reason the first L.A. goal should have been refused. The goal was good. Nice to see Carbo give Kovy and Plex an easy night. We want them to be fresh for tomorrow's test. Hopefully Kostopoulos will play tomorrow. We'll need his grit. Sit Smolinski for tomorrow's game, Bring back Dandy...we'll need his size and speed! WEll, the boys have picked up 4 points on this road trip. Mission accomplished. Now let's go to anaheim and pick up 2 more! I would much rather Grabovsky in over Smoke or Dandy but I doubt Smoke gets scratched as Carbonneau will want his vet right handed centre in the game. Wamsley01
Watching the 93 game and noticed a couple of things... 1. The goal Roy let in was at a critical time and would have had this site up in arms about his crappy goaltending. 2. Hrudy was about as good a goalie as he is a commentator... 3. Carbo would be in the penalty box the entire game if he played today. Granted, he would be able to chat with Gretz while he was there. These games remind me that being a defensive player in todays NHL is much harder then 15 years ago. Carbo was able to interfere, hook, and tackle guys. Kind of makes it easier to be a defensive specialist. No wonder him and Muller are coaching these guys to play offensive. Anything he taught them about playing would be a penalty these days. 1. Roy kind of earned the benefit of the doubt with a Cup in 1986, multiple Vezina trophies and 10 straight OT wins. Also, thanks to ESPN Classic I have seen that game about 50 times. It was post, post and in. It crossed the line by about 3 inches. And Kirk Muller scored about 30 seconds later. So even if we were pissed we would have forgotten a minute later. 2. Hrudey was fantastic in the 93 playoffs and without him the Habs would have destroyed the Kings in 4 straight. 3. It is all relative. Try telling me that Gretzky would have scored 215 points facing today's goalies and not 5'7" goalies like Mike Palmateer and Alan Bester. BTH
I love watching us win these games. The difference between the good teams and the bad teams is that the good teams win the games they aren't supposed (Phoenix) and take the two points any time they're on the line. LA was pretty evenly matched with us, yesterday but we left the game with a vert big win - and after the half-way mark of the game, the win was never even in doubt. With our unproven back-up getting his first start of the season! If we lose to San Jose and Anaheim, it doesn't bother me much - those are Western rivals we don't have to worry about. But the important thing is that in every game where the two points are up for grabs, even for a moment, you go and grab them. We've been doing that, I think. You know you are playing well when you are in March and discussing the quality of your wins. These are games the Habs found ways to lose for years. Now they have the depth and skill to sleepwalk through games and capitalize when their goaltending keeps them in the game and they steal wins with their PP. You think New Jersey outplayed Toronto in the last 2 games? Brodeur kept them in the game, the Leafs got behind and then when they pressed the Devils capitalized. They were outplayed and came up with 2 points. The Habs don't follow that blueprint, but it is the same idea. Although they were really helped out by that ridiculous goalie interference call in the first yesterday.
BCHabnut
Ya the interference call may have changed that game, but I thought that the roughing call on Komi was BS too. There was a huge scrum, and he gave the guy a couple whacks for charging Jaro after the whistle.
