(I believe he'll be re-signed, but it would have been nice to watch how he deals with an entire season of ups and downs in Montreal before making the call). Tabernac! Gainey had no choice, four players have been recalled from Hamilton: Pax, Chipchura, Denis and... Weber. It will be interesting to see how well the team will play in the next week or so. JCPetit it could be good for the younger vets to assume more of a leading role. the Kostitsyns, Gorges,Latendresse will be relied on to take a lot more than they used to. I know Halak is playing tonight, is Price hurt?? He had been attacked in his crease the three games that he played. If he is hurt i am angry at Laraque and management. Did they ever had a physical test on Laraque before signing him ?? Nobody notice that he cannot stride with his skate because it hurts, it hurts because he is too heavy upper side. It hurts because he preferred his personal boxing trainor than our expert Livingston. Now it hurts because we have nobody to defend our franchise goalie and talent players. So there is 4 call ups. Chipchura is a 4th line centre and Lapierre actually plays like a third line centre. That's good. Max Pac should get a spot on the Lang line, D'Agostini is not afraid of dump and chase but nobody was following him. Max Pac can do that and he can cut to the net. Lang playing conservative behind Weber there i do not agree, two power play specialist on one team is one too many. It's either him or Sergei. Denis is a veteran capable of jumping in if Price is really hurt, but if Price is not hurt that leaves me with trade smells in the air. saskhab Posted January 2, 2009 Share Posted January 2, 2009 It's best to shut Laraque down to get his groin problem fixed. I'm not too worried about players taking a run at Price... Laraque doesn't really prevent that anyways. I still think Laraque's most effective night was when Lucic refused to fight him but consequently didn't play physical all night because of Laraque's ominous presence. If he can get back to full health and be able to do that on a consistent basis, it'll be great. I'm not too concerned about a month's time as far as the lineup goes... getting back to full health is a nice thought but so much can happen that all you can hope for is player's starting to return and not simply replacing other players that have just gotten hurt. I do hope Chips shows he belongs, though. I could see him sticking even after Koivu returns, which hopefully is soon (his 2 week injury is now past 3). Remember at training camp... the last round of cuts were particularily hard because a large group of players had played so well and established themselves as legitimate callup options. We haven't had to call up anyone that wasn't amongst that group of cuts. Pacioretty and Weber are the latest to likely see action, and Stewart and Henry still have yet to get the call. During the exhibition games, he was use his gun from the point to score on NHL goalies. And, as always, I think Pacioretty can play at an NHL level. I have been hugely impressed with him in the last few games - it's like the sleeping giant is finally awakening. He had one shift against Pittsburgh of a kind I haven't seen in a Habs' jersey since the days of Kirk Muller, maybe. If he keeps doing that, it will help to compensate for the lost personnel. And if Laps can keep making an impact, it will also help. Beyond that, you're right - the Kostytsins both have to pull their weight. But it's unfair to *expect* call ups to carry the ball here. Interesting times. But I like our team and I love the depth of the organization. I think we'll be fine. But Koivu is, as always the real key...we need him back.
