markierung
Lines What was the best line on the ice by far against both Washington and Pitt? Kostisyn, Plekanec, Pacioretty. So it makes perfect sense for Carbo to break that up and put Kovalev on that line. Its also a great move to keep D'Agostini playing with Koivu and Higgins, even though the line was a -4. It would be crazy for Higgins, Koivu and Kovalev to play together so that we can finally have a First Line this year. Also, we've just discovered that Maxime Lapierre has some offensive talent. So let's put him with two guys without any hands at all. I'm sure a line with Pacioretty, Lapierre and D'Ago wouldn't overwhelm opposing teams with a good combination of speed, physicality and precise shooting. Thank heavens Carbo decided to attach a giant anchor to Pacioretty to slow him down...Coach might lose track of what's going on if the game moves too fast. MFT77
I would have to agree that Carbo does screw around with the lines too often. Sometimes he has little choice with the injuries and such, but not let Pax, Pleks and AKost play again seems dumb. Put Kovy with Koivu and Higgings. Nothing wrong with moving down Diago to another line or even scratch him. Hasn't anyone noticed his -14 in 37 games. Pretty bad if you ask me. When Tangs and Lats get back, and with the possible recall of SKostits, i think Diago should be the one to go back to Hamilton. He has shown some promise, but he has been on for too many goals against. Something for him to hone back in Hamilton. Just my thoughts. Psycing
Patch will be back with Plek and Kostitsyn if Kovalev proves he hasn't turned his game around. Personally, I feel with Kostitsyn and Plekenec getting their game back of late, matched with what should be an inspired Kovalev provides an opportunity for that unit to regain its form from last season. I don't love the line juggling game to game, but putting Kovalev back with Plek and Kostitsyn just makes sense given the circumstances. The main reason why Patch succeeded on that line was because he was willing to work hard - the same way in which everyone expects Kovalev to perform tomorrow. Hard Work + Talent = Goals, lots of 'em

But you can't keep telling people, "just wait and see if it works" all the time. How can you justify changing something that was beginning to flourish. Kovalev can come back without disrupting that line.
KoZed
Meh... Just feels like people are trying to find ways to rag on the coaches and lines are the easiest thing to bitch about. If Carbo puts Kovy with Higgins & Koivu: "Why is Carbo putting Koivu and Kovy back together when they did nothing/when Dago is the only one who shoots on that line, is Carbo stupid or what?" If Carbo puts Kovy with Lapierre & Kosto: "Why is Carbo putting Kovy on our checking line/on his off wing, is he dumb or what?" If Carbo put Kovy on the 4th line: "Why is Carbo putting Kovy on the 4th line, is he trying to humiliate him/deny his talent/hold him back, is Carbo crazy or what?" We've seen it all before. brobin
so all season Carbo was an idiot for breaking up the AK, Pleks, Kovy line... so he puts them back together and hed is an idiot again.. he can't win... Pac didn't add that much to the line, and Pleks was not really much better, other then he scored on a few shots. neither of those goals were from Pleks working any harder or playing on the boards better. Maybe he is getting his shot again, which is good. If Kovy sets him up and Pleks scores, maybe they both get some confidence back. (note that Pleks failed to shoot with 3 minutes to go and tossed a bad pass thru the slot, then looked bad on his shootout attempt). Higgins had a few goals from shooting too, that didn't turn him into Ovechkin either. The best thing for the team, and Gainey, is for Kovy to be put on a successful line. If it doesn't spark him to play well (which is what we should all want), then at least it means he has no excuses. Gainey has 4 games to decide who goes... Prime Minister Koivu
I get what you are saying and you do have a point. I think that Kovalev deserves every opportunity to succeed here though. The idea that Plex and Kostit are hot right now will help Kovalev to find his game. The hope is that their recent success will be doubled by Kovalev on that line. I really want Kovalev to destroy today.
ForumGhost
Kovalev deserve an opportunity, but do you really have to break up our most productive line to do it?
Helmethead
Mark my words, Kovalev is gonna be a man on a mission tonight. Mark my words, 2G's 1A This team is gonna finally get back on track tonight. It all starts with Ottawa

If you want the job apply. All this nonsense blame the coach he's an idiot is a lot of hot air. when we win he's a genius when we lose he is an idiot. Scotty bowman used to screw with the lines all the time too Maybe that is where carbo learned it who knows. but guys constantly harping about who is playing with who and why is getting boring. brobin
not really. When we win, its because Kovalev plays great and we get good goaltending. i doubt that Carbo has much to do with it. Then by your own logic, them sucking has nothing to do with him either.. so he is not at fault for if we win or lose. So... fire Price and Kovy..because according to you, they are the only ones that count... QED
Dalhabs
Im gonna protect Carbo now because I know that after the game tonight if they play as they usually have done lately I will be furious again. Carbo cant score goals... he cant make important saves in the net either. He cant block shots and he cant make "Scott Stevens" hits. All because HE IS NOT ON THE ICE! If they players can get their stuck up heads out of their asses and play like Carbo wants them to and they did the first half of the season we will start winning again. We will se Kovy back tonight, lets see if he learned anything, if not, just use him on the PP.

BTH
I thought it was a great decision by Carbonneau to go back to the lines that did it for us last year, replacing Ryder with D'Agostini (for some reason, Koivu can only be with young, anglo finishers).
