nhfarber
and our current government does nothing. Meanwhile there is talk that federal assistance will be extended to canwest and CTV, private media networks which are certainly more friendly to Tory interests. Shame! You don't find CBC/SRC to be something of a dinosaur?

nhfarber
Really? You don't find CBC/SRC to be something of a dinosaur? the important part of CBC is not what most people see. It's not the networks they provide in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, etc. The important service is the stations and reporting that they do in smaller communities, rural areas, northern canada. These are areas where a private media organization is less likely to exist because their sole goal is profitability. The CBC/SRC provides an essential service to these communities, both through the news they are able to provide for them, but also in providing job opportunities for people in those community.
