TheDriveFor25 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) Spacek for 3 years.. 11.5 million http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=283437 Edited July 10, 2009 by Fanpuck33 Quote
Chris Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Not the best guy out there, he is solid in all 3 zones. Pretty good shot. Decent price. I think he plays the left side. Weber Hamrlik Spacek Gorges I guess they need someone to play with Markov Quote
newf Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) :puke: shitty signing.. you all can keep the rose colored glasses on but i call it the way i see it... there were way better d-man then this donkey. habs can't get anyone decent to wanna play in montreal Edited July 1, 2009 by newf Quote
habs rule Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 good solid player got some offensive skills 3.5 mill seems reasonable. good signing Quote
redondo Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Good signing, addresses a definite need. I think Spacek will do well here, and the price is more than decent for what he brings to the table. Quote
TruthMonger Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) Here's some info on Spacek from Buffalo... http://www.diebytheblade.com/2009/6/11/905...008-2009-report http://www.diebytheblade.com/2009/5/15/875...acek-ufa-report Edited July 1, 2009 by TruthMonger Quote
TheDriveFor25 Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 It helps that he is coming from a division rival too. weakens them a bit. Why is everybody knocking this signing already? A decent dman for 3.75m. Leaves some money to be spent at other places. Gainey is making moves, improving the team, and people are never happy. Quote
newf Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 just because gainey is "making moves" doesn't mean they are good ones. lose komisarek and get spacek lol.. habs will be a small wussy team again this year. Quote
Chris Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I agree totally, drive for 25. The habs had one of the worst D cores in the league and people complain when thye get a good solid player. Quote
KEEP26 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) i really dont like this deal, but better then nothing i guess..i hope more to come and this is just for depth..... i dont think people are not happy....its just not one of the guys first on anyones less ...so more dispointment.. Edited July 1, 2009 by KEEP26 Quote
Sir_Boagalott Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Spacek is fairly decent, but he is 35, although his numbers seem to be going up with his age. Anybody know if he's ever been paired with Hammer? They are both Czechs of similar age, so maybe they've played together with the Czech team? Is Bob specifically targeting Czechs? Is Sykora next, then Jagr? Quote
Chris Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Newf, have you ever seen Spacek play, he is not soft. He'll surprise you. Quote
alexstream Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 this is not a bad move. don't forget that we lost Schneider, Bouillon and Dandenault (9M total) Spacek is replacing those guys. I'm still expecting Bob to replace Komi in another signing or from within or from a trade. Spacek replacing Schneider, Bouillon and Dandenault is very good for me. I liked Schneids, but I'm not a pro scout. Quote

Easy Ryder Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Ok upgrade over Schneider offense/defense, upgrade over Bouillon too. Good all around defense. , first pass. No problem Bad thing is the lenght of the contract In 3 years he turns 38. Quote
TheDriveFor25 Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Not a soft Dman by any stretch. He's a great 2nd pairing guy. Get somebody to play with Markova nd pair him up with Gorges or Hammer (likely Hammer as they are both from the same country I believe!) I think this may help wake up Hammer too. hmm... Markov Beauch Hammer Spacek Gorges OByrne/Schneider Seems preety decent to me! Quote
Chris Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Don't you guys think you are going a little nuts on Komi. He is a stay at home Dman. He is NOT Scott Stevens or Bobby Orr. They could sign McKee for a year, he'll block shots and take the body. Quote
BTH Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 As good a deal as you can get on the free agent market. Quote
Chris Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Hamrlik Markov and Spacek are all LD's i belibve. Quote

Nilan25 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 That is going to be a small non=physical defence. Bruins and Flyers will feast on that. Quote
newf Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 here's Darren Dregers reaction on twitter to spacek signing.. :lool: ... "Ouch!" Quote
Chris Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I agree with you habsrule. I am not sure where these guys are getting that he is soft or not physical. Quote
