JLP
Might as well centralize this. Markov left in the 3rd after awkward goalmouth tumble, could not skate/walk. Reports of possible twisted knee or cut in foot/ankle area from Price's errant skate. Nothing official so far it seems.
saskhab
http://www.habsinsideout.com/main/21909 Cut foot apparently. The team has already left for Buffalo, and left Markov behind for further examination. Might take some time for him to get a skate on, I'd think. Hopefully Hamrlik is ready for Saturday, or else they might want to stop by Yannick Weber's apartment in Hamilton on their way to Buffalo... dark_faerie87
Hopefully nothing serious, I'll be pissed if he misses the western road trip and I don't get to see him play.
jrhabs
Just great.... I had a feeling we would come out with the laffs with some kind of negative. Markov out indefinitely is an OUCH !
Habsfan
I wouldn't worry too much about this. They said this morning that he cut his ankle on Price's skate. Had it been a twisted knee or ankle, then I'd say we'd have something to worry about, but my guess is he'll sit out the game in Buffalo, and jump on the plane with the rest of the team for the western road trip! jrhabs
We are F**** , apparently the rumors are that the injury is serious and requires surgery. Did I mention that we are F**** ?
Chris
If it's that bad someone else just needs to step up. They tied the game and won the game after he left. As another poster stated they actually looked better after he left defensively. I am certainly NOT saying they are better without him but it's not the end of the world. If any other Dman went down i would say call up Weber, but Subban is a offensive Dman who skates the puck up and that's what thye need. Put him with gil, 12-15 minutes a game. The Chicoutimi Cucumber
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! Markov injured? Potential surgery? In the first game of the season?? Come ON. How about a bit of luck in Habsland, eh? This is getting ridiculous. Hopefully Hammer gets back quick and he, Spacek, Gorges, and Mara can combine for a tolerably effective puck-moving defence. If you look at our record without Markov, this is truly scary stuff. Edited October 2, 2009 by The Chicoutimi Cucumber
Chris
Totally different team, even though defensively they looked the same as last year.

Chris
Apparantly Marianaro is reporting it is tendon damage and he actually had surgery last night to fix the damage. If true, that isn't good.
jrhabs
Not good at all ... there are tendons all over the foot and if any are torn , it takes forever to get back to par, and even to get back into skates. Prime Minister Koivu
It sucks to loose Markov to a long term injury like this but what hurts much, much more is the type if injury. Tendon damage means Markov will never be the same again. It will effect his skating or movement in some way for the rest of his life :puke: I hope it isn't too bad. Get well soon Andre. Hammer must be back soon. They were talking about this virus for over a month now. What kind of virus lasts for over a month? HIV? Mono? Hey, it's the season, so it could be H1N1, who knows. Let's hope Markov's injury isn't ridiculously serious. And if it is, clearly the Habs need to force their players to have better ankle protection. Yikes, two years straight? The good news is it's WAY easier to deal with an injury like this from the get go. The bad news is, of course, that Markov is clearly the best player on this team. Chris
Bronchitis and pnuemonia lasts a long time. Hamrlik aside they still need to bring up a puck moving Dman who can skate. Adding hammer to the other 5 could be the slowest collection of dmen in the league.
huzer
Sportsnet.ca saying 2-3 months. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/2009/10/02/markov_hurt/ Edited October 2, 2009 by huzer
JoeLassister
I still can't see how Price could have hurt Markov BEHIND his foot watching the replay...
nhfarber
Looks like Weber will be getting a long term look now. He's going to have to quarterback the powerplay.

Psycing
Better now than the end of the season.... I guess. Well, we had 7 D, and now we have 6, so not biggy. I could see Weber or Carle getting a call up if the team decides they need a PP specialist though, since most of our guys are more defensive minded on the back end. KoZed
Goddamnit. I hope Price feels awful and plays the best 2-3 months of hockey of his life to make up for that. That's gonna put increased pressure on Spacek.
Chips
Is this some kind of early April FOOLS joke?<?>!Q@KJ!? WE CANNOT BE THIS UNLUCKY! I'm so pissed I need to get a coffee.. better yet.. I'll just eat some raw coffee beans! This cannot be happening. Someone wake me up and tell me that was just a dream, and Markov is going to be fine and back with our Habs asap! Ok.. breath.. breath.. nope! I need oxygen. This is too much to handle for the first game of the season. Take a Knee everyone, think only positive thoughts, He will be back with us before we knew he was gone. And in the mean time. lets bring up another smurf! rafikz
Hal Gill had more turnovers in 1 game than Breezer or Souray have had in their respective careers.
