GHT120 Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Read somewhere that their interest in Gallagher may be hoping that his work ethic and leadership could inspire/re-ignite Pettersson Quote

I guess I find it more amusing than anything. Just glad that Hughes is our GM. 1 Quote
JoeLassister Posted June 9 Posted June 9 I keep seeing a lot of talks, mock trades, signing scenarios involving McDavid and rhe the Habs and it raises questions/concerns for me. Even before we know whether it would happen via a trade or on the free-agent market, as much as I’d love to get McDavid, there’s something about it that bothers me a little. Signing McDavid means completely changing the face of the team. You don’t go after the best player in the world just to slot him into the current roster. You make him the new face of the team, the cornerstone. The team effectively gets a new identity. The team’s marketing strategy is bound to change. I don’t see how a guy like Nick Suzuki can keep the captaincy if McDavid comes to town. I strongly believe that as an elite player, you have a duty to recognize and respect a player who is better than you and hand over your C. The power play structure, ice time distribution, and the entire game plan automatically change. Acquiring a player of McDavid’s caliber must be planned months, even years, in advance. Are the Habs actually as interested as we might think? Quote
skifaster Posted June 9 Posted June 9 McDavid seems very much a team first person. He would be coming to Montreal understanding the current dynamic. Montreal would have 2 first lines. Caufield/Suziki/Slafkovsky and Demidov/McDavid/Newhook would be pretty fun to watch Quote

There's no rule that says the best player has to be the captain. While lots of teams do that, it doesn't make it right. If he decides to move on, McDavid might actually prefer going somewhere where he's not the captain. Quote

Well if Vegas can sign a rapist to play goal, as dumb of a move it is, I don’t see a surprise that a guy who shielded a sexual predator hiring Babcock. Quote

There is a rapist that plays goal for Vegas? That's awful, he should go through a trial to determine the facts and then the length of his jail term for such a heinous crime. I can't believe that the league would allow him to play, what is the world coming to? 2 Quote

I could have sworn that there was a trial that debunked the accuser's narrative as not credible, exonerating Hart (and others). Guess you missed that? Quote
GHT120 Posted June 10 Posted June 10 @hab29RETIRED @illWill @sbhatt Could we not sidetrack this thread into an endless rehash of a "dead horse" issue in which nobody is going to convince "the other side" to change their minds. 1 Quote
Prime Minister Koivu Posted June 11 Posted June 11 He is ending up in Toronto isn’t he? Would not touch with 10 foot pole 1 Quote

He has become a whipping boy in Edmonton and I don't blame him for wanting a change of scenery. Quote

Nurse for Petterson? 🤷♂️ Bad contract for bad contract with someone perhaps Quote
Commandant Posted June 11 Posted June 11 8 minutes ago, Prime Minister Koivu said: Nurse for Petterson? 🤷♂️ Bad contract for bad contract with someone perhaps I know you are saying the Oilers, but Pettersson scares the crap out of me if he's traded. The Sedins just took over. If they think Pettersson can't be rehabilitated and they need to trade him now, at his lowest value, I want no part of it. Even if the Canucks are rebuilding, he's on a very long term contract. The smartest thing the Canucks can do (if they think Pettersson can be a contributor) would be to let him play a year, have a strong season and trade him next year. If they want nothing to do with him and are willing to get rid of him for low value, in their first summer in charge, then it tells me that there is something wrong and they have no faith he can become a first line player again. 1 Quote
Prime Minister Koivu Posted June 12 Posted June 12 McTavish would be great - I would like a touch more production but he has a lot of positives Left handed centre 220lbs 23 years old signed until 2030/31 at 7 million cap hit roughly 40-50 points last 4 seasons with 15ish games missed Not my first choice but I would be happy if the price wasn’t too crazy Quote

Thats the rub - he is closer to a 3C or an in between 2-3 Habs could then spend capital on a serious winger perhaps. I can’t imagine McTavish costing grade A prospects Quote

Kapanen, Engstrom was the level I was thinking I would consider Guhle if the deal was basically a 1 for 1 Curious to see what his value is Quote
