GHT120 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Guess this is really all a rumour... Laraque claiming that Kaiden was suffering discomfort over the summer because the surgery he had for a partially torn adductor/abductor muscle last November wasn't done properly ... he had surgery to correct things in August ... apparently Guhle hopes be be back by mid-October but that "medical experts" George consulted say it could even be as late as January Quote
Commandant Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Laraque has always been hit and miss on these things. Quote

True, but the "second operation" theory would explain why Guhle has been skating in "sweats" rather than practicing with his teammates ... I don't have the same confidence about the "medical experts" ... just hope the Habs doctors/training staff are extremely cautious about allowing him back on the ice ... he returned after just less than two months from the initial surgery for what was reported as a partially torn abductor ... Google Gemini, for whatever it is worth, says that recovery is usually 3-6 months depending on the severity of the injury. Adductor or abductor surgery (often linked to core muscle injuries or "sports hernias") repairs torn hip/groin muscles to restore stability and mobility ... with the starts/stops, pivoting and physical battles I expect the only position for whom such injuries are more significant is the goaltender. Not at all Guhle's fault, obviously, unless the discomfort this summer was from not allowing enough time for a complete recovery from the November surgery ... unlike broken bones (for example) that can be x-rayed/scanned, medical training staff must depend much more on what the player tells them for soft tissue injuries ... scans can show whether the muscle has "knitted" but not whether it is actually fully healed. I will never forgive Kreider for hurting Price and given that it was the third goalie he "accidentally" ran over in one playoff run, i still say he knew exactly what he was doing. Given that the Habs may have to face the florida panthers in the playoffs and Sam Bennett/brad marchand, as well as Tampa and Buffalo both running Dobes last year, Im fine with signing Kreider for the purpose of fighting fire with fire. Much as I would prefer to repeatedly run over Kreider with a snowplow, you do have a good point there. I'm guessing HuGo won't go for him, regardless. Quote

Gorton had him with the Rangers for several years and gave him the seven-year contract he's now escaping. Safe to say he liked Kreider at that time. I expect the Habs will kick the tires if nothing else. Quote

Kreider also player with St Louis during MSL's time with the NYR ... if they got along that could be an advantage ... still expect the BBs have the best shot if Kreider makes it through waivers Quote
DON Posted September 10 Posted September 10 He could lead the celebration on Carey Price night perhaps. Quote

Jim Ramsay (Habs' Director, Sports Medicine, Performance and Head Athletic Therapist) was the Rangers Head Athletic Trainer (also Director of Sports Medicine his last 6 seasons) throughout most of Kreider's time with the Rangers ... one more thing to make Montreal feel very familiar Quote
Prime Minister Koivu Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Not sure why Winnipeg would trade him. Unless the best return for Hellebyuk is all futures and they start rebuild. Still Scheifelle would be a really tremendous addition Quote

Would he come and what is the cost? Quote
brindavis Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Saw this rumour, which of true, I’d fly the 8 hrs to drive to Edmonton myself for a 2nd. https://nhltradetalk.com/insider-oilers-drooling-over-opportunity-to-acquire-canadiens-forward/ Quote
dlbalr Posted September 26 Posted September 26 The original source on this is Frank Seravalli writing for a gambling site yesterday which is a little strange in itself given that Sportsnet just hired him yesterday. Edmonton's issue is that they don't have the money for him at this moment. They have a bunch of lingering issues that are going to carry over into the regular season, meaning they're going to be carrying 26 or 27 players to start. Bowman spoke a while back about wanting to keep cap space handy for in-season movement. Someone like Dach could be a target, especially with Bowman being the one who drafted him while his brother is on Edmonton as well. The article also mentions Calgary which is a more realistic option to do something now as they have the cap space to do it. Quote

The Chicoutimi Cucumber Posted September 26 Posted September 26 If they are 'drooling' over Dach, they need better pro scouting 1 1 Quote

He has had so many friggin injuries and he has looked great at times so I am not quite ready to give up on him. I can understand why other fans are ready to throw in the towel. Not surprised that there might be legitimate interest from other teams. 2 Quote

I wouldn’t say I’m throwing in the towel, but he’s an 8-year veteran and 8 years in, everyone is still waiting for him to ‘get healthy and put it all together.’ I agree with giving him one more year, but at some point, this becomes what he is: a fragile bottom-6 C who gives you maybe 50 games and 30 points. I really don’t like the whispers about his work ethic that have dogged him all career either. It’s possible those are unfair…but it’s equally possible that he’s one of those guys who was brought up too soon and never absorbed the lesson that you have to earn what you get. C.f. There is also the factor that Florian has looked good and a lot of fans would like to see him get a shot that isn't going to happen unless at least one of the returning veterans is moved Quote

W-T-F HuGo? They're working off the original Seravalli report posted a few posts above yours. Edmonton is believed to still have interest although, as noted, their injury situation makes that a lot more difficult right now. That might be more of a midseason thing when their players are back and they have cap room. Calgary is believed to have followed up in recent weeks. The thing is that Montreal isn't looking to move Dach for futures, according to the report. They want more of a player-player swap or to include him as part of a bigger trade (where they might need to match money). Quote
Prime Minister Koivu Posted September 27 Posted September 27 I’m indifferent to trading or keeping Dach. His problem in Montreal is the competition is biting at his ass and Dach could be replaced by Texier for example. If Dach has an injury free season then perhaps he steps ahead of the competition but I’m pessimistic Quote
