Conboy and Avtsin replied for Team B. Delmas stopped Schultz on a penalty shot in the 2nd half.
ForumGhost
I'm really hoping for Avtsin to impress. Just once, I'd like to see a Russian prospect blossom and succeed in the NHL.
dlbalr
A small injury note from rookie camp, Masse is out 5-7 days with an upper body injury. Bishop's still out as well (plus Markov, Hamrlik). 1 day into camp and 4 guys on the shelf...better not be an omen.
Dalhabs
A goalie with the name Champion? Hmmm Would love to get reports on how Engqvist is doing. A sweden on the team would most likely mean me getting to see alot more habs games.
JCPetit
I have been trying to find some videos of this year camp and rookie camp. Nothing found yet. If somebody finds anything, I hope he will share the link somewhere on this board.
dlbalr
A goalie with the name Champion? Hmmm Would love to get reports on how Engqvist is doing. A sweden on the team would most likely mean me getting to see alot more habs games. He's the odd man out in the lines for Team A, subs in periodically on the lower lines. Barring a miracle training camp, he'll be in Hamilton at least to start the season. Today's matchup is A vs C, A leads 2-0 (Desharnais, Pyatt with the goals) Team C's forward lines: Pacioretty-Boyd-Gionta Pouliot-Plekanec-White Dumont-Leblanc-Wyman Bonneau
dlbalr
Delmas stopped a penalty shot for the second straight game (White this time), bodes well for his chances of getting an entry-level deal. Plekanec and O'Byrne (with 35 seconds left in the 2nd half) tied the game, to the shootout they go. Cammalleri, Plekanec, and Engqvist scored in the SO, Team A took it 2-1. bar
Is there anything to read into whos on which squad A-C? In regards to who will have a better chance of making the big club?
Lammy
A small injury note from rookie camp, Masse is out 5-7 days with an upper body injury. That poor guy is cursed!
saskhab
Is there anything to read into whos on which squad A-C? In regards to who will have a better chance of making the big club? Not on the teams, those look like they were split to be even, but there might be something with who some of the players are playing with. Pacioretty - Boyd - Gionta Gionta is a top 6 player, Boyd a bottom 6 player with some pop. Pacioretty has to show he can play with these types of players to make the team. Dumont - Leblanc - Wyman 2 NHL games experience on this line. Guys on this line almost certainly are not making the team. Eller getting Lefebvre and Avtsin is interesting in this light... you'd think they'd want to put Eller with a NHL player. Then again, centre is the Habs' deepest position (really weird to say that), so someone was bound to get lesser linemates there.
dlbalr
The first cuts will come tomorrow, around a dozen or so will be sent home. I'd suspect the junior players (maybe with the exception of Leblanc if they want to play him in the preseason opener) will be among them. It's also probably the end for Delmas and Champion, though that doesn't mean one (or both) won't be signed either.
JoeLassister
Just realised we're trying a goaler named "Champion".

Leblanc, White scored for Team C, Henry (surpassing his goal total from last season already), Avtsin, and Gallagher replied for Team B. Cuts to come this afternoon. dlbalr
Reported lines for tomorrow vs Ottawa: Gionta-Gomez-Eller Kostitsyn-Boyd-Darche White-Desharnais-Pacioretty Wyman-Engqvist-Masse Defence lines aren't confirmed, here were the pairings in practice (3 of the 4 should be used in-game): Picard-O'Byrne Henry-Subban Nash-Carle Klubertanz-Desnoyers Auld will start tomorrow and play half, the backup has yet to be named. I wouldn't be surprised if Price got thrown right back in the fire. Pascal Leclaire and Mike Brodeur are dressing for Ottawa.
