It's a broken record, it's time for G and G to have a number #1 smash hit! 2. Better d-zone clearance of pucks along the boards. The coyotes had quite a few 2nd and 3rd kicks at the can because D failed to clear the zone. 3. PP you have some life, now you need to burst forth! This looks like a stronger lineup... but for Markov of course... than last year. It says "potential" to me. I'm sure our captain will slip into gear, although to the pros, its all about the playoffs, not the first twenty, not that they're indifferent. dlbalr
Isles' reported lineup: Bailey - Tavares - Comeau Moulson - Nielsen - Parenteau Martin - Weight - Niederreiter Sim - Konopka - Hunter Eaton - Martinek Motteau - Wisniewski Hillen - Jurcina Roloson DiPietro
saskhab
The Islanders never fail to have a player I have never heard of or seen before in their lineup. Today's entry is Matt Martin. I guess he's a brand spanking new callup, but played 5 games last year.

Never liked the guy since he refused to report to Barrie when he was traded there in junior (wouldn't waive his NTC) nixing what would've been a good deal for the Colts. He's a scrappy player, offense isn't his strong suit in the pros.

dlbalr
I've never heard of Hillen either. NYI's defense makes me appreciate MAB. Hillen I do believe was a collegiate UFA signing a couple of years back. He's actually turned into a half decent bottom pairing player with a bit of offensive upside. saskhab
I've never heard of Hillen either. NYI's defense makes me appreciate MAB. We've played Hillen previously... he was once a "who is that/never seen before" player for the Isles. Man, Hunter is now on the 4th line? HAHAHAHAHA I almost moved that in my "post of the year" thread, but I think i'm biased since i'm in a very bad day at work right now... Still a good one cuz so true. brobin
I want a win, a goal for PK, and the GG line to get on the board.
Toronthab
I like the way we'er playing out there, including the power play which is getting pretty exciting out there. Add one Markov... and VOOOM.
brobin
To be fair to Gomez, when Gionta gets rid of the yips he will start getting points. I can't fault some of the setups Gomez is making.. he is definitely trying out there (ie.. this is not kovalev syndrome).
brobin
wow.. what work by Subban to set that up.. good net presence by Darche. and two defensive plays by subban.. Great shift by the laps line too... boys are working hard so far.

Wamsley01
Gorges with his second goal of the season. As a goalie, it drives me nuts trying to block that shot from 60 feet away. If he lets that go it misses the net by 4 feet. Edited October 28, 2010 by Wamsley01
Seb
Gorges with his second goal of the season. As a goalie, it drives me nuts trying to block that shot from 60 feet away. If he lets that go it misses the net by 4 feet. As a former goalie: Tell me about it! I feel like last season, the exact thing, whether it was off the stick, skate or body, it happened a ton to Price. Ah well. Montreal's a friggen entertaining team this year! The way they barrel toward the net, it's causing the other team to collapse and take penalties. When they don't score that is.
brobin
Its interesting.. while in people have been pretty positive on Gorges, he is a minus guy. PK and Picard are leading the D in the plus minus department. Gorges has put up some points this year, but he is still struggling defensively at times. Perhaps him and Gil are not the best pairing. BTH
Awesome period. Plekanec must be one of the best passers in the league on the 2-on-1.

Toronthab
Nice shot for a puck rolling on its edge. Great shot. Yeah Pleks! These guys are working really well together That looked a pretty ugly hit by Moen.

bar
Haha I hate the lack of analysis by Pierre. "The habs just don't have a big body presence to have a successful power play" Correct me if I'm wrong wasn't the habs like top 4-5 in PP for the last three years without said big body presence?
