nhfarber
My wife bought me tickets to see the Habs this Saturday for my birthday, this will be my first Habs game ever so Im super psyched. Figured I'd throw a post up here to find out what are some of the Habs related experiences I shouldn't miss while I'm in Montreal. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. JoeLassister
The 100th anniversary place (just outside the Bell Centre) is a good place for pictures... There is a small possibility that it might not look exactly like this with the snow though...
illWill
Well just get ready for a taste of what heaven would be like. I just recently went to my first Habs game and it was so amazing to see people everywhere who are on your side. I loved wearing my jersey around town on game day and high fiving random strangers. I went for dinner at "Le Cage" near the arena, its a sports bar and it quickly got packed with fans as game time got closer, which was a great warm up for the game. Get your vocal chords ready as you will probably find yourself yelling at every little play that happens, not to mention the obligatory OLE OLE OLE. Have fun! sakiqc
Happy birthday! Have you ever visited Montreal? If you leave Ottawa early enough, you might have time to get a good smoked meat at one of the famous Jewish restaurants downtown (Schwart's or Dunn's who's closer to Bell Centre). You could find a good daily parking spot between Bell Center and the shopping malls and have time for an hour walk around before the game. It's an early afternoon game so the atmosphere won't be the same than an evening game. Usually there are a lot of kids so the crowd typically gets more excited for nothing during the game after each shot on goal. At minus 10-15 degrees, there is not much to do outside especially after the game with most shops closing at 5. So your wife might try to make you skip the last minutes of the 3rd to have time return to the mall to buy a purse.. after all she gave your the tickets so it's the least you can do for her. Hopefully the Habs lead by 5 midway through the 3rd. Have a safe and fun trip.
